  • BuffyForums' Rules and Posting Guidelines

Hi! Welcome to BuffyForums. On behalf of the staff and members here I would like to say that we are pleased that you have found us. Before you start posting, however, there are a few things you should know.

    THE RULES
    No spamming
What is spamming? For us, it is:
    - Posts that do not pertain to the subject of the thread.
    - Posts that are less than a sentence are spam, too. Don't do it.
    - Posts that for some reason don't add anything to the ongoing discussion. We don't like posts just agreeing with someone. If you don't have anything to add then don't post it, PM it!
    - Also please note that double posting is spam, we have an edit post option if you forgot to mention something.
    - Starting duplicate threads is spamming.
    - Posting in what's known as text language (ie. 'bangel rox u no coz itz wotz ment 2 b) is horrible and is considered spamming.

While we know for some members, English is their second or even third language, this doesn't allow for really bad grammar. If you want your post to be read, I suggest using capitals in the right places, paragraphs, so your post is easier to get through; full stops and commas where appropriate. You won't be in trouble if you don't use correct punctuation, but many members will probably skip over your posts.

Look before you post. Make sure there are no existing threads about the topic you wish to discuss. If you make what we call a "duplicate thread" then we will close it and send it away without warning. BF is a big place and we need to work together to keep it as organized as possible.

    No insulting
Sounds obvious, I realize, but it needs to be said. We have had problems with this. So just respect one another.

    No bullying
Again, obvious. But intimidation through private messages where the moderators cannot see your posts is bullying. If you cannot get along with a person, do not continue interacting with them. Use the Ignore function. Also, the comment function is for brief, light responses. It isn't for involved comments, which should go in a main post. And it isn't a place to make snide remarks or personal attacks.

Listen to the moderators, do not get angry
If the moderators ask you to end an argument in a thread, then we are asking you to end completely. Do not continue in another thread or by private message. We cannot control what you do on other forums, but please try to take a breather and reassess. Your words will have more value if you focus on inspiring those people with like opinions rather than trying to convince those with opposing opinions.

    No linking other forums
This means no promoting or linking other message boards, other online stores, or shareware sites. You are allowed to post a link to your website, or put it in your profile, as long as there is no forum attached to it. Mass advertising will result in a ban.

    No unmarked spoilers
Some people don't want know what's going happen next. Don't ruin it for them. We have spoiler threads in most of the show sections where rumours can be posted and discussed.

    No talking about downloading episodes
I know you want to see them, but hey, it's illegal and we don't condone it. We like BF and don't want to see it shut down because of impatience.

Have fun. I promise we aren't as scary as we may seem. This is a great community to share your passions and obsessions with others like you. But as with most things in life, there are rules.

It's extremely important you respect these terms, as lots of work has gone into this forum by many people. These are all here for a reason. We've been around for awhile now and we have learned the hard way about negative things that can happen if we don't have some basic rules to follow.

If you have any questions please refer to our FAQs thread in the Help pages of the Forum Information and FAQs section.

That's it. We'll be seeing you around the boards. If you have any questions, you can PM (that's private message - the PM button is the speech bubble under a user's avatar in the threads or the 'private message' button on their profile page) any of us moderators/administrators and we will get back to you ASAP. There is almost always a mod online here.
