Random Questions - Although Winchesters never get lost & ask for directions, you can!
They may hug and cry, but you'll never see a Winchester get lost and have to ask for directions. Though that could make it onto my S3 wishlist. So if you need help finding something or can't figure out why they took that left turn past the old graveyard, this is the place to ask.
I was curious what you all thought was the reason why John didn't see Dean when he was dying in Episode- Faith. I assume he was wrapped up with the YED, hiding or whatever, but even so- with Dean dying, I would have thought John would have been there. OR perhaps, not agree with Dean/Sam seeing Roy.
Well, I guess it depends on how you see John Winchester. I want to give him credit and say that there was some important reason on why he didn't answer Sam's call, but even if he was wrapped up in serious business in regard to the YED, there is no reason to not call Dean & Sam at least some time later and ask for Dean's wellfare. As far as 'Salvation' indicates, John did never show any reaction to the call, although he knew about it, so the call did reach him. There is no excuse whatsoever for me to accept John's behaviour on this and it's one of the most severe accusations I have against him.
On a good day I think that John was feeling too guilty that he couldn't be there for Dean and Sam at that time and preferred to sweep it under the rug instead of bringing up the painful memory with his sons. Obviously Sam came through for Dean and that may have been enough for him, to simply repress it. On a bad day, I think John was too wrapped up on his vengeance trip and later forgot about it, not caring enough to apologise for not being there.
Let's face it .. his sons called him two times on a lead for the demon and both times he showed up instantly. They call him for help and he remains absent. Let that speak for itself. *is mad again*
I always thought it was out of character of John not to be there for Dean. I mean, I know storyline wise- they arranged for John to show up later to make it more emotional, I guess. Yet it still bugged me. What could have possibly been the reason for not being there? I wondered what other SN fans thought about it thus why I asked. I wasn't sure if I was the only one. Is too...
Well, personally I think it is futile to ponder reasons on why exactly John didn't react to Sam's call, since firstly we just can't know and have no hints in the show as to what the reasons were and secondly as far as I am concerned, there is no reason that is acceptable. No matter what John was doing, thinking, feeling, bottom line is, his kid was dying. Period! Even if he was tied up and knocked out somewhere when Sam's call actually came in, there's no reason to not call later. Since it's also no problem to incorporate such a call without actually engaging the actor to play a scene, I think it was a deliberate decision from the writers to picture John that way and it concurs with how John is depicted in the finale.
I don't consider it out of character for John at all, actually. I always considered John to be someone who was consumed by his need to avenge Mary's death and to a certain extent emotionally closed off from his children. Especially in that year when he finally tracks that demon down, after 22 years of fruitless searching. Statements like 'I don't care what it takes, I'm gonna end it.' or 'Killing this demon comes first, before me, before everything.' show exactly how single minded he is when it comes to his life long quest. It takes Dean dying right in front of his own two eyes in IMTOD, for him to finally come to his senses. That's something he just can't ignore anymore and he takes action.
John loves Dean and Sam no two thoughts about it, but he isn't able to communicate that very well and he has troubles prioritizing, always quick to dismiss or delay urgently needed emotional confrontations with his sons, until it is too late. Not being able to take care of a crying Sam after Mary's death, not able to talk to Dean after the Shtriga, not able to take a step towards his younger son after he threw him out of the house, not able to react to Dean dying, not even able to talk to him at his hospital bed, just staring at him silently. Closed off, hurting, repressing, that's John Winchester for me and so his behaviour in 'Faith' kind of falls into a consistent character trait.
Question: What is the name that Dean and Sam use when checking into Motels if they get lost from each other? I can't remember... Can someone help?
In The Usual Suspects
DEAN: "Go to the first motel listed in the Yellow Pages. Look for Jim Rockford, it's how we find each other when we're separated."
Hey folks, I didn't know where else to post this and I didn't want to open a new thread for it, so here it goes: Some store accidentally sold copies of the S2 DVDs and some people got a hold on it and kindly enough ripped some of the bloopers. Not all of them (only 1,5 minutes or so from 9 minutes alltogether) but it's so funny and if you are like me and starving for something new from the boys, you probably don't want to miss it.
I didn't know where to post this, The music thread or here...since I'm asking a question on the music. But then I thought...meh...it's a question, post it here. So my question is:
What Metallica song is Dean humming in Phantom Traveller, to which Dean says it calms him down. (Humming Metallica that is, not the song itself.) But I want the song itself, but I don't know what the name is.

The Metallica song Dean is humming is 'Some Kind of Monster'.
I have a question that has been bugging me. Was Ash Ellen's son? Or any relation to Ellen at all? Or did he just...live in the Roadhouse? I don't think it was ever brought up at SN...and was wondering if anyone knew...

As I could figure it when watching, there was no relation to Ellen in anyway, more than that he lived there, and was the local computerwhizz..
(but maybe I'm wrong? Chris? Lyn? Jo? *grins* )

Keep a look out for Chosen Art, Roadhouse and the others
As far as ever said or linked, there was no blood relation between Ash and Ellen. Ellen called them family just because they were close trusted friends.
In addition, the S1 dvds multimedia allowed you to read Jo's Hunter diaries which can be found transcribed at Superwiki and they all seem to be from the view of her as a single child. Also her email was given and if you emailed it before the show started ( ), you got a reply email that asked "Aren't you a friend of Ash?" rather than a friend of her brother or whatever.
lol, I guess I now see why the SN Origins Comic called her Josephine rather than Joanna Beth. I had forgotten her email was josephine spelled backwards.
