Boiler Room Rules (Read & Post Acceptance)

Welcome to the Boiler Room.

This is BuffyForums one place where discussion of controversial, political, religious, and other highly debatable issues can be freely discussed. A civil and open attitude is required in here.

This section and threads are a privilege, not a right. BuffyForums is about the discussion of tv shows and creative outlets such as fanfic and fanart. However, we understand that some of our members want to discuss these topics. A post count of 25 is necessary before you are able to post in here.

Warnings will be given out to anyone who offends in the smallest way.

We will ban people from the section if needed to avoid any of the drama we've experienced in the past. These same rules apply everywhere on the board, but strict adherence is absolutely necessary in here.

- Respect each other. You are discussing topics not other members.
- No swearing.
- No name calling.
- Do not take things personally.
- Do not make personal attacks on other members.
- Do not go into a thread unless you are able to handle heavy material.
- Respect other people's opinion, even if you totally disagree.
- Discussions need to be well thought out and written.
- No spamming or venting anger.
- There is zero tolerance for any talk of advocating violence, murder, or other illegal activity.
- Stick to the subject being debated. Start a new thread if a new subject arises.

If you feel any of these rules have been broken, report the post to a moderator immediately using the 'flag' option in the bottom right of the post you want to report.

All members wishing to post in the Boiler Room will need to post here that they accept and understand these terms. We will double check to make sure everyone posting in the Boiler Room has posted their acceptance, so we would appreciate your initiative to do this without a reminder. Thank you.

I accept! Actually, there's one thing I don't understand...or rather, want to set my mind at rest about...when you say "Warnings will be given out to anyone who offends in the smallest way," do you mean offends as in breaks the rules, rather than gives offense? I'm a little worried that someone might get offended unintentionally!


EDIT: I think I'll go ahead and post in the Boiler room...cos I reckon the rules probably mean "don't offend by breaking the rules" rather than "don't cause unintentional offense to someone touchy"! But let me know if it doesn't!

i don't know why anyone would want to get mean anyway; it's not the end of the world if someone disagrees with you. you never know, they might change your opinion or make you look at the situation differently, and therefore help you grow as a person.
that is why this sort of thread is available after all
