    TEASER

    OPEN ON ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    CATE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    CATE is lying on the bed. The light is off and she's lying in darkness. She is lying at an odd angle on her back with her arm laid out on the bed, staring vacantly at the half open door in front of her. She looks tired, and exhausted.

    CATE: (quietly) I don't need it... I don't need it... I don't need it...


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    MYSTIC LABS ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

    ELISE is using a mop on the various fluids that have spilt on the floor. She looks relieved as she mops the last of it and then looks around the room to see it is all tidy.

    She sighs relieved and we can see LANCE and SOFIA who are in the room with her, but she has her back to them. They're holding on to two bags of trash each.

    LANCE: (smiling) Looks like the last of it. The base is back to normal now.

    SOFIA looks at him, an eyebrow raised.

    SOFIA: (annoyed) I don't quite see how any of this is normal. Tidy yes, but not normal.

    She turns and leaves the Mystic Lab, he looks confused and follows.

    ELISE turns to face them, pleased with her tidying but seeing they're gone looks a bit disappointed.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    DANTE is walking down a corridor, when he hears...

    LANCE (O/S): Sofia...

    He hides behind a corner and listens.

    The camera cuts to SOFIA walking down the corridor with the trash bags and LANCE catches her up. His brow furrowed.

    LANCE: (wondering) Sofia, wait! Is everything ok?

    SOFIA: (bluntly) It's fine.

    LANCE: Is this one of those things where women say everything's fine but with a bitter subtext underneath it?

    SOFIA: Uh huh.

    She reaches the trash chute and opens it, placing the bags inside. She turns to him folding her arms.

    SOFIA: I know about you and Dante.

    LANCE looks confused and places his bags inside.

    LANCE: I don't know what you mean.

    SOFIA: Cut the crap Lance. I've known him for a very long time, and I've seen the way he looks at me for a lot longer.

    LANCE looks at her.

    SOFIA: But I also see the way he looks at you as well; it's exactly how it played out with Christian.

    LANCE clenches his jaw and moves closer to her.

    LANCE: I told you Sofia. I don't know what you mean...

    SOFIA: Fine, whatever. Just look at what having feelings for Dante Turnpike did to Christian.

    She gestures to the base. Everything had happened with SIN because of CHRISTIAN...

    She brushes past him now and walks away. He turns and watches her leave.

    The camera cuts to DANTE listening to what was said. He looks down.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    KAIA is still unconscious. Although she looks to be more healed, bandages are still around her neck and her arm is in a sling. Her face has more colour to it as well.

    The camera pans out to show TRAFFORD stood at the end of her bed and XAK and BROGAN stood either side of it.

    BROGAN: (to TRAFFORD) Is she going to be ok? She's been unconscious for a week now...

    TRAFFORD: She'll be fine. She lost a lot of blood, and no one matches her blood type so we've just got to let her heal the old fashioned way.

    XAK: Can't you do anything to help?

    TRAFFORD: Sorry. My healing hands can repair broken bones but I can't restore blood to the body. Her wounds are healing well though, which is a good sign.

    BROGAN still looks worried and TRAFFORD notices.

    TRAFFORD: She'll be fine, Ea. I promise.

    BROGAN gives him a weak smile and he and XAK move away from the bed to the door.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

    XAK and BROGAN emerge into the corridor from the door to the Medical Ward.

    They begin walking down the corridor and XAK sighs.

    XAK: We can't wait much longer for Kaia to recuperate. We need to launch an assault without her because god knows what has happened to Ursula and Constance.

    BROGAN doesn't say anything.

    XAK: It's been a week and we've found nothing; no surveillance...

    BROGAN: Xak I get it alright. It's a dead end and we literally have nowhere to go.

    XAK: Sorry. I know this must be tough on you.

    BROGAN nods.

    XAK: But we will find them. Sin won't harm them, she knows how precious they are to us. Once we think it through...

    BROGAN: Then what? Huh?

    XAK is lost for words.

    BROGAN: Then we do some more pointless patrols? Or perhaps going through hours of surveillance footage is the preferred method?

    XAK is unsure of how to answer. He doesn't know what to say to him to make this any easier.

    He doesn't need to answer.

    A siren blares, and a throbbing white light emanates from the walls of the corridor. XAK looks around, confused.

    XAK: Another attack?

    A smile forms on BROGAN'S face.

    BROGAN: No, not an attack...

    XAK: Then what?

    BROGAN: The Sponsor's here.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    CATE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    CATE, still in the same position as before, is silent now, begging for a distraction from her withdrawal.

    The siren sounds and the light emanates from her walls.

    She looks confused and stands quickly. She looks around at the walls.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    MYSTIC LAB ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

    ELISE looks around the room and smiles. Though she doesn't hear the siren, she can feel the warmth from the light off the walls and that is all she needs to feel.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    DANTE looks around at the walls confused and listens to the sirens sound. He moves towards the lobby.

    The camera cuts to LANCE, who is also in the corridor still, hearing the sound and feels the light. He moves down the corridor further and sees DANTE nearing the lobby. He wonders if he heard what was said before.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    INTELLIGENCE UNIT ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    SOFIA, now in her tidied Intelligence Unit, looks around at the walls as they pulsate with white. The screens on the monitors around her crackle and snow over as the presence of The Sponsor begins to grace the base.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    KAIA remains completely oblivious to what is happening in the room, but TRAFFORD doesn't. He smiles, feeling blessed.

    TRAFFORD: (quietly) She's here...

    He hurries towards the door but the camera remains on KAIA. Her finger twitches.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    LOBBY ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    One by one, everyone arrives in the lobby, where the white light is pulsating so strong that it blocks out the siren.

    XAK and BROGAN arrive first, then CATE, SOFIA, TRAFFORD, LANCE, DANTE and ELISE. They look around; CATE, DANTE and LANCE look confused. XAK does too, but his expression is more a curious one than a confused one.

    LANCE: What the hell is going on?

    XAK: It's The Sponsor...it's coming.

    The white light from the walls suddenly funnels into the central part of the ceiling and a beam of light shoots down from the ceiling to the centre of the lobby floor. Everyone steps back as a woman forms from the light. She's wearing a white suit. It's SHELTER. She smiles and looks around. ELISE beams with joy at the return of her friend.

    DANTE: (confused) What? Shelter is The Sponsor?

    TRAFFORD shakes his head.

    TRAFFORD: No...

    The light shoots down again and next to SHELTER, which forms another woman's body. It's ECHIDNA, dressed also in a white suit.

    DANTE: (to TRAFFORD) Ok... So it's Echidna?

    TRAFFORD rolls his eyes and everyone looks pleased with the return of two powerful allies.

    SHELTER and ECHIDNA move to the side to allow for the presence of the third being. The light hesitates for a moment before it produces this third form. Beaming down from the ceiling is...

    CHARLIE.

    Her hair is tied back and she, like the other two is also wearing a white suit. She looks sternly around the room.

    XAK stares at her in awe, and can't help but smile.

    XAK: You came back.

    She looks at him, but doesn't have long to gaze upon him as the light from the ceiling fills the whole room. Everyone shields their eyes, completely baffled as to what is going on.

    The light dies down and finally the last form is revealed.

    TRAFFORD nudges DANTE, and nods to the form.

    TRAFFORD: That, is The Sponsor.

    Standing in front of CHARLIE, in a pristine pearled suit and her hair waving around her shoulders is The Sponsor.

    SEPHY.

    CUT TO BLACK

    END OF TEASER

    As the screen remains black for a moment a moon begins to fade into view and then the words in bright white?SHADOW STALKER. They fade as quickly as they appeared.

    ACT ONE

    OPEN ON ? GREECE
    TERMINAL EXIT ? EXT.ATHENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ? MORNING

    The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

    The camera pans around the sweltering heat that plagues the Athens airport. Hordes of busy tourists and business men and women are swarming the exit for taxis, departures and arrivals.

    CAPTION: ATHENS - THREE WEEKS AGO

    The camera focuses on the exit as it shows CHARLIE leaving the airport. She looks around disoriented. Her bag is on her shoulder and she is still clutching the folder that URSULA gave her.

    A limousine pulls up outside the airport and stops in front of her. She looks at it surprised and a DRIVER steps out the vehicle.

    DRIVER: Charlie?

    CHARLIE: Are you Adam?

    The DRIVER/ADAM nods, and so does she, slightly embarrassed. He is played by Alan Ritchson

    ADAM: It's quite alright. You are correct to be cautious. Come, your mother is expecting you.

    He looks around.

    ADAM: We should hurry, it's not safe.

    He takes her bag off of her and opens the door. She looks around cautiously and steps inside the car.


    CUT TO ? GREECE
    PRIVATE ROAD ? EXT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? MORNING

    The limousine pulls up to a pristine white cliffside apartment. The car stops and ADAM steps out. He opens the door for CHARLIE and she steps out of the car too. She looks around amazed as ADAM retrieves her bag.

    CHARLIE: Who are you?

    ADAM: I'm one of the few who have pledged allegiance to your mother. I'm here to procure her safety, as best I can.

    CHARLIE looks confused.

    ADAM: Come, she'll be waiting.

    The area is tranquil and all that can be heard is the sound of water lapping softly at the cliffs bottom, hundreds of feet below them. ADAM, carrying CHARLIE'S bags, approaches the doorway to the apartment and CHARLIE follows, still holding on to the folder.

    He knocks on the door and after a few moments, the sound of hurrying feet inside can be heard. The door opens.

    It's SEPHY. She's wearing a white summer dress and smiles proudly, seeing her daughter.

    SEPHY: Charlie.

    Overcome with emotion she hurries to hug her daughter and CHARLIE holds on to her tightly closing her eyes. A tear falling down her cheek.

    CHARLIE: Mom, thank god...

    SEPHY breaks from the hug and smiles at her.

    SEPHY: You should come inside, it's not safe.

    She looks at ADAM.

    SEPHY: Adam, could you bring my daughter's luggage inside.

    He nods happily and enters.

    CHARLIE looks at SEPHY, overwhelmed. SEPHY goes to enter but senses her daughter's anxiety.

    SEPHY: I know you have a million questions.

    She turns and faces her now.

    SEPHY: And I have the answers you seek... But please, come inside. It really isn't safe...

    She holds out a hand for CHARLIE and she takes it. SEPHY quickly ushers her daughter into the apartment and stands by the door. She glares at the surroundings and then moves inside the apartment fully, shutting the door firmly behind her.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    LOBBY ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    The colours return to normal as the camera focuses on CATE'S, DANTE'S and LANCE'S faces, all in shock at seeing SEPHY in front of them.

    DANTE: (shocked) Oh...

    SEPHY looks at XAK, and he looks at her. He walks towards her and she moves out of the way revealing CHARLIE behind her. He stops in front of her and she looks unsure.

    He smiles at her and he reaches out to hug her. She lets him and as she feels his grip she feels her tension slipping away. SEPHY smiles softly.

    SEPHY: (to both of them) Go to my quarters. You need to talk.

    XAK breaks from the hug and nods at SEPHY thankfully.

    He walks away and CHARLIE follows. She passes CATE and they share a look, before CHARLIE passes her and disappears with XAK.

    ELISE takes this opportunity to hurry towards SHELTER and hug her tightly, causing ECHIDNA to smile.

    SEPHY looks upon them fondly, but then turns to BROGAN, seriously.

    SEPHY: Ea Brogan. I need a progress report of exactly what happened the day that Ursula and your cousin were taken. It's imperative we find them...

    BROGAN nods and follows her off screen.

    He passes TRAFFORD who watches ELISE and SHELTER with happiness. But it's CATE who catches his eye as she sneaks out of the lobby, running down one of the corridors.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    KITCHEN ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    DANTE is in the kitchen of the base. We've never seen it before but it's large and furnished in a modern with a long table.

    DANTE is cooking but he looks distant.

    LANCE (O/S): Hey.

    DANTE turns seeing him in the doorway. He's smiling.

    DANTE: (weakly smiling) Hey...

    LANCE: (surprised) You're cooking?

    DANTE: Thought Charlie and the others might want something seeing as they've come a long way. Well, at least I think they have.

    LANCE smiles.

    LANCE: That's nice of you.

    He moves closer and DANTE turns back to the cooking.

    LANCE: Is something wrong? You seem vacant...

    DANTE: I just...

    He turns once again to look at LANCE.

    DANTE: (beat) ...You're not Christian.

    LANCE nods.

    LANCE: I know.

    DANTE: And that, with him, was nothing like...

    He pauses.

    LANCE: Like?

    DANTE: ...This.

    The camera looks behind them to the security camera watching them from the corner of the ceiling.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    INTELLIGENCE UNIT ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    SOFIA is watching the monitor that is observing the kitchen. She sighs and reaches into her pocket and pulls out a cell phone.

    She looks at it questionably, wondering whether to make the call.

    She pockets her phone. Not now.


    CUT TO ? UNKNOWN
    DARK ROOM ? INT.UNKNOWN BUILDING ? AFTERNOON

    The camera focuses on two women tied to chairs in the middle of a dark room.

    They're breathing heavily and they're tightly bound by metal shackles. The room is dank and wet, a thin layer of water lapping their feet.

    It's URSULA and CONSTANCE.

    SIN (O/S): Oh ladies...

    She meanders on to the screen in a ripped black dress. She strokes URSULA'S face.

    SIN: You're not doing yourself any favours by resisting. Although I can't say your bravery and courage isn't admirable. You'd do well to stand by my side Mrs. Lake.

    She lifts up URSULA'S chin to reveal her beaten face and her tiresome eyes.

    URSULA: (with spite) I would never join you. Do your worst young one.

    SIN smirks.

    SIN: I always do.

    She moves around to CONSTANCE now and kneels down before her.

    SIN: How about you? You're always living in the shadows... Would you like to walk in mine?

    CONSTANCE: (seething) Never.

    SIN'S smile soon fades. She shoves CONSTANCE'S head back and then stands.

    SIN: That was the last time I ask you. I'm not dancing to your tune anymore. Next time, I'm taking blood from one of you till the other spills...

    She moves towards the door and URSULA looks at her.

    URSULA: It doesn't have to be this way.

    SIN laughs.

    SIN: Right, because my parents could learn to love me as the little girl they wish they had?

    URSULA is silent now.

    SIN goes to leave now but she is distracted. She looks down at the water. Her reflection is staring at her pleading.

    SIN'S REFLECTION: (whispering) She's right...you can stop...

    SIN glares at her reflection; her humanity begging her to stop.

    SIN'S REFLECTION/SIN'S HUMANITY: (entreating) Please, stop!

    SIN: (worried) Shut up. You're nothing anymore.

    She goes to leave now, disrupting her reflection and causing the image to be fractured and disappear.

    As she leaves the area, URSULA and CONSTANCE look at her confused. Who was she talking to?


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    SEPHY'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    XAK is stood in SEPHY'S room, and CHARLIE is walking towards the window looking out on to the depths of the ocean. There is a deafening silence where he watches her and she can feel his eyes.

    She sighs.

    CHARLIE: I don't hate you Xak.

    XAK smiles weakly.

    XAK: Well I guess that answers one of my questions.

    He pauses and she looks down.

    XAK: Kaia wasn't...

    CHARLIE turns now.

    CHARLIE: It was partly my fault to think that there would be no unresolved feelings for her.

    XAK: There's nothing between us Charlie, I can promise you that.

    She moves him towards and places both her hands on his chest.

    CHARLIE: (quietly) It's fine. It's in the past. Bigger and badder stuff is going on right now than to worry about some pointless kiss.

    She looks down. He knows this goes deeper than KAIA.

    XAK: Charlie, where did you go?

    She pauses.

    CHARLIE: To find my mom. I needed space from everything, but it just...

    XAK looks worried.

    XAK: What happened?

    She looks down, haunted...


    FLASH TO ? GREECE
    BALCONY ? EXT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? AFTERNOON

    The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

    CHARLIE and SEPHY are sat on the balcony of SEPHY'S apartment. SEPHY pours her daughter a glass of juice.

    CHARLIE: Where have you been? All I've heard of you is through cryptic messages.

    SEPHY avoids the question, she looks up to her daughter, knowing what will distract her...

    SEPHY: I heard about Kaia.

    CHARLIE looks shocked.

    CHARLIE: You knew about her?

    SEPHY: I've known for a while.

    CHARLIE looks shocked.

    CHARLIE: How could you not say anything to me about it?

    SEPHY: Because I could see any feelings between the two of them was completely one sided ? he loves you now. Besides, being "The Sponsor" came with responsibilities that meant I had to hide the truth from you. I'm sorry Charlie. I wish this pain had never come to you.

    CHARLIE knows her mother. She knows she did it for a reason...

    CHARLIE: You're The Sponsor?

    SEPHY nods.

    SEPHY: When The Kalipso Syndicate came to this reality, they needed guidance. They were strong, but they wouldn't have survived in this world without knowing the laws of the Earth.

    CHARLIE: So you contacted them?

    SEPHY: Actually, they contacted me. They'd been watching out for you all for a while, and realised I could help them. I agreed, as long as they agreed to my anonymity.

    CHARLIE: Why?

    SEPHY: I wanted to protect myself and everyone else. So, I pulled some strings with our family, and the rest is history...

    CHARLIE: (cautiously) Ursula said the creation of the base was down to your Uncle.

    SEPHY pauses.

    SEPHY: He helped.

    She looks out over the edge of the balcony.

    SEPHY: He was one of the few who would.

    CHARLIE: (confused) What do you mean?

    SEPHY pauses, then smiles at CHARLIE, evasively.

    SEPHY: We should focus on the problem at hand. There's time to discuss which paths must be walked once we have stopped Sin.

    ECHIDNA (O/S): Persephone, we've tracked him down...

    CHARLIE and SEPHY turn to ECHIDNA who rushes towards the balcony with SHELTER behind her.

    ECHIDNA sees CHARLIE and smiles.

    ECHIDNA: I'm pleased you made it safely.

    CHARLIE: It's good to see you again.

    SHELTER smiles at her.

    ECHIDNA: Likewise. (pausing) I apologise for what happened with Kaia.

    CHARLIE smiles gratefully, but SEPHY looks urgent.

    SEPHY: (to ECHIDNA) I think this best be handled later. This isn't the time.

    CHARLIE looks at her mother and then to ECHIDNA.

    CHARLIE: Who have you tracked down?

    SEPHY: Charlie, please.

    CHARLIE: (defiantly) I deserve to know.

    ECHIDNA: A man named Miles Anderson.

    SEPHY: (angrily) Echidna, know your place!

    ECHIDNA looks down apologetically. CHARLIE looks to SEPHY.

    CHARLIE: What is it? Who's this Miles Anderson guy?

    SEPHY sighs and pauses contemplating.

    SEPHY: (quietly) This is what I've been dealing with. It's bad.

    CHARLIE: (worried) Why? Who is this man?

    SEPHY: It's more than likely he's planning an attack on my mother's temple.

    CHARLIE: Demeter.

    SEPHY: Yes, but Charlie I don't want you involved. This is a project I've been working on for some time and it's dangerous. Right now I need you to focus on recuperating, because we are fighting two wars and I can't be on the frontline of both...

    CHARLIE: You honestly think I can do that with what you've just told me?

    SEPHY looks to ECHIDNA and ECHIDNA looks at her in return.

    SEPHY: Charlie...

    CHARLIE: No. Look I want to take Sin down as much as the next guy and I know I need some space before I go back, but if someone is trying to kill my grandmother don't you think I deserve to know what's going on?

    SEPHY looks at her, knowing that what she is about to tell her will exceed anything she expected.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

    The colours return to normal as we return to the present. The camera focuses on the doorway and TRAFFORD hurries in with BROGAN in tow.

    We're back in the base; the present day.

    TRAFFORD: I know Sephy asked you to get a report but I thought you'd want to know.

    He stops and lets BROGAN moves past him.

    BROGAN: Of course, thank you.

    He moves towards the camera as it pulls back to show KAIA stirring in her bed. She's waking up.

    BROGAN: When did this happen?

    TRAFFORD: About five minutes ago. I came to check on her and she was calling out.

    BROGAN: For who?

    TRAFFORD: I don't know, it was hard to tell...

    BROGAN feels a shiver run through him as he turns to KAIA, her eyes open slowly.

    KAIA: (quietly) Ea?

    BROGAN smiles.

    BROGAN: I'm here.

    She looks confused.

    KAIA: Where am I?

    BROGAN: Medical Ward. You've been out for a week.

    She looks worried.

    KAIA: Did we win?

    BROGAN is silent, TRAFFORD looks at him.

    TRAFFORD: (to BROGAN) I'll give you some time to explain.

    BROGAN nods and TRAFFORD moves to the door, exiting the Medical Ward.

    KAIA looks confused and looks at BROGAN.

    KAIA: Time to explain what?

    BROGAN looks down, clenching his jaw.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    ELISE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

    ELISE and SHELTER are in ELISE'S room; SHELTER admiring the drawings of her stuck on the wall, smiling softly at them.

    ELISE is writing down messages on paper so that SHELTER can understand her.

    ELISE: (writing) Where did you...

    She stops as something catches her eye.

    SHELTER is signing.

    SHELTER: (signing) There's no need to write Elise.

    ELISE looks stunned.

    ELISE: (signing) How are you doing this?

    SHELTER: (signing) I've watched you, for years. Am I doing it right?

    ELISE nods happily, then lunges at her friend and hugs her. SHELTER hugs her back appreciatively.


    CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    CATE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

    CATE is pacing her room, almost literally climbing the walls. She's breathing heavily when she hears a knock at the door. She looks at it.

    CATE: (blunt) What?

    The door opens and TRAFFORD enters.

    TRAFFORD: Wow, you're welcoming.

    CATE: I said, what?

    TRAFFORD: Thought you might like to know Charlie's going to come down soon, the meeting's gonna start.

    CATE: Why would I want to know that?

    TRAFFORD: (incredulous) Maybe because you haven't seen your best friend in weeks? And who knows what she's been through with Sephy. Besides you're finding it tough anyone can see that...

    She glares at him.

    CATE: You know what Trafford, you know jack about Jill. I'm doing fine by myself. I don't need Charlie, I don't need Sephy and I don't need your after school specials. So just get out of my face!

    He looks beat, and turns heading towards the door. He's about to leave but he turns his head back slightly.

    TRAFFORD: You know Cate, one day you're going to have to face the fact that he's dead. I just hope you don't push every one of us away in the process.

    With this he leaves and CATE watches him exit.

    She clenches her fist and unclenches it; repeating this motion as she whispers...

    CATE: (quietly) I don't need it... I don't need it... I don't need it...


    FADE TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
    MEETING ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

    She is now stood at the back of the Meeting Room. TRAFFORD, who is sat with his sister and SHELTER keeps CATE in his peripheral vision.

    DANTE and LANCE sit apart and SOFIA sits separately from them.

    XAK and CHARLIE sit near the front with ECHIDNA and BROGAN, and CHARLIE looks around for someone else. She's not there.

    SEPHY is stood in front of them all, ready to address.

    SEPHY: This is a very difficult time for you all, and as your Sponsor I am here to rectify this problem. My granddaughter has taken lives that I wish I could have saved, and in time you will all realise why I could not attend to her sooner.

    She looks at CHARLIE who is looking down.

    SEPHY: But time has come for me to restore order. I cannot let her destroy our world any longer. After looking through your research it would appear Sin's stronghold is Sirens. Though you haven't managed to locate Constance and Ursula on your patrols or through your surveillance methods, I feel positive that we will locate them in that establishment. Therefore, I propose an assault. Every able bodied fighter or wicca will attack Sirens at sundown. We must be careful due to the law's search for some of you, but remember, due to your strong defence in the base, Sin's army is considerably depleted.

    She smiles and nods at them all.

    SEPHY: We can win, but we must stand united, confident and most of all... We must never lose faith in those who cannot be here, and each other.

    The camera moves away to BROGAN who looks down. Then, the camera moves to DANTE and LANCE.

    SEPHY: Understood?

    Everyone nods.

    SEPHY: Good. Then I will begin preparations for our departure. You may all leave, I will let you know within the hour what your tasks will be...

    Everyone stands, and SEPHY looks relieved to be finished but then looks at them again.

    SEPHY: Oh, and one more thing that I must tell you.

    CATE looks at her.

    SEPHY: I was hoping to avoid any negative words, but I feel I must mention it: The Aperture. You must all promise that when you are threatened you use this failsafe. You all know where it is located and how to use it, correct?

    She looks at BROGAN for clarification. He nods. The camera briefly cuts to CATE, before cutting back to SEPHY.

    SEPHY: Good. I know some of you don't know me as well as others, but the truth is I can't risk any one of you being hurt again. (quietly) It would hurt me too much to see that happen. (sincere, and resolute) So please... be safe.

    She looks at her extended family and then looks down...


    FLASH TO ? GREECE
    LOUNGE ? INT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? AFTERNOON

    The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

    CHARLIE, SEPHY, ECHIDNA and SHELTER are all sat in the pristine white lounge in the apartment in Greece.

    SEPHY: (to CHARLIE) Miles Anderson is a British diplomat in Athens. He's lived in Greece for nearly five years and in that time he's managed to negotiate some of the most peaceful agreements the country has ever seen.

    CHARLIE: Sounds too good to be true.

    ECHIDNA: According to our research, he is.

    CHARLIE: Why, what has he done?

    SEPHY: We have our suspicions that he may be trying to assassinate my mother.

    CHARLIE: That's a pretty big suspicion.

    ECHIDNA throws a pile of photos on the table. CHARLIE looks at them. They show MILES ANDERSON conversing with two winged demons and placing money in their hands.

    He looks familiar. He's the man CHARLIE is going to kill...

    ECHIDNA (O/S): We have our reasons.

    CHARLIE: A demon?

    SEPHY: As soon as Adam retrieved these photographs I arranged for swift travel of Echidna and Shelter so they could be here to assist me.

    CHARLIE: Of course. If you wanna know more about monsters, it helps to have a sister who is the goddess of them.

    She looks at ECHIDNA then to the picture of the demons.

    CHARLIE: So, what are they?

    ECHIDA: They're Sirens. Winged beasts with the heads of women, once loyal to me and Persephone...

    CHARLIE: They're not loyal to you now?

    ECHIDNA: Not anymore.

    SEPHY reaches out to CHARLIE and places a hand on hers.

    SEPHY: You have to understand Charlie that because of everything that has happened with you, Xak, your father and Sin, ripples of anger and doubt had spread throughout the higher realms. Many of the gods are aiming to destroy us, and they have many followers who would gladly murder and maim to ensure that the gods' reputation is not damaged any further.

    CHARLIE gulps.

    CHARLIE: What about the others?

    SEPHY: (sighing) Our allies are few, but strong. However, we will not survive long if men like Miles Anderson, who are aligned with the opposition, get their way.

    CHARLIE: What was this deal they made with the Sirens?

    ECHIDNA points to one picture where it shows the sirens passing MILES a scroll.

    ECHIDNA: It would appear he was purchasing a summoning spell.

    CHARLIE: To summon what?

    SEPHY: My mother. Once she is summoned at her temple she could be vulnerable to an attack.

    CHARLIE: (shocked) Oh god, we have to do something.

    ECHIDNA: Don't worry. Shelter and I managed to find his accommodation and did some research into his schedule. He's planning on giving a conference at Demeter's temple tonight on conserving ancient architecture. For years he's pledged an interest in us and has striven to protect our landmarks, but I suspect a different reason for his interest...

    SEPHY: (to CHARLIE) If you're as ready as you say you are, perhaps you could accompany Echidna on a reconnaissance mission tonight to see how much danger my mother truly is in.

    CHARLIE considers this for a moment and then looks at a picture of MILES where he's smiling.

    CHARLIE: Are you kidding? I'm so in.

      OPEN ON ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      MEETING ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

      We are back in the Meeting Room now and the colours have returned to normal, but it is empty now and only DANTE and SOFIA remain. They're tidying up the chairs and she specifically seems to be avoiding conversation with him.

      DANTE: Think you'll be in the fight?

      SOFIA: (sarcastically) Because of my exceptional skills the last time? I doubt it.

      DANTE: You know you can be a right bitch sometimes.

      SOFIA looks at him shocked.

      SOFIA: I beg your pardon?

      DANTE: What? You think I'm gonna dance around your delicate lady feelings.

      SOFIA: Well clearly not.

      DANTE: Good, so why don't you come right out with what's eating you?

      SOFIA: Well for one you kiss me, then you go chasing Lance. But then again, why should I be surprised. It's all a little too d?j? for my vu.

      DANTE: Lance is nothing like Christian.

      SOFIA: Ok Dante, you keep telling yourself that. But I'm not gonna wait around for you to realise how much of a mistake you're making.

      She turns now and leaves him alone in the meeting room. He picks up a chair and smashes it against the wall, breathing heavily as the wood breaks against the hard stone.


      CUT TO - UNKNOWN
      DARK ROOM ? INT.UNKNOWN BUILDING ? AFTERNOON

      CONSTANCE is struggling in her restraints. She's trying to break loose from them. URSULA hears and turns her head in CONSTANCE'S direction as much as she can.

      URSULA: Constance, my dear, save your strength.

      CONSTANCE sighs, angrily.

      CONSTANCE: We have to try something.

      URSULA: They will find us. I'm sure of it.

      CONSTANCE: We've been rotting in this room for god knows how long now Ursula... and Sin's starting to lose it...

      URSULA: It's ok to be afraid Constance. Fear is natural...

      CONSTANCE: That's all right for you to say; you don't feel it.

      URSULA: Oh, I do.

      CONSTANCE looks surprised.

      URSULA: I'm just better at hiding things than you are.


      CUT TO ? NEW YORK
      THRONE ROOM ? INT.SIRENS ? AFTERNOON

      SIN'S throne room, aka the bar in Sirens, is empty. SIN herself is stood at the bar at the background, looking at all the drinks bottles lined up on the back wall.

      BLACK appears behind her.

      BLACK: I can ask someone to make you a beverage if you'd like?

      SIN: (bluntly) I can handle it. It's just a drink.

      BLACK: Of course you can.

      She reaches for a bottle of whiskey and as she removes it she catches a look at her reflection in the mirrored surface behind where the bottle was stood.

      She stares at her reflection, fear mixed with hate. SIN'S REFLECTION looks back at her.

      SIN'S REFLECTION: Are you ready?

      SIN: Shut up!

      BLACK looks up sharply, only hearing SIN...

      BLACK: Is everything alright?

      SIN turns to face him, startled.

      SIN: I'm fine, don't dare question me again.

      BLACK: I'm just concerned.

      SIN: You should be. Now, get out of my sight...

      With this he turns and leaves, walking away towards a corridor.

      SIN pulls the bottle top off the whiskey and places it to her lips drinking deeply and continuously.


      CUT TO ? NEW YORK
      CORRIDOR ? INT.SIRENS ? AFTERNOON

      BLACK enters into the corridor. He closes the door and turns to every single vampire left in his army. They're stood waiting for him.

      BLACK: My concerns are correct.

      The vampires look shifty.

      BLACK: Her humanity is fighting back. We must be prepared...


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

      XAK, CHARLIE, BROGAN, SEPHY and TRAFFORD are walking down one of the corridors.

      TRAFFORD: (to SEPHY, boldly) You're not using Elise in this fight, she's been through enough for one week.

      SEPHY: Don't worry Trafford, I have no intention of endangering your sister. Besides, if you're both with us who else is going to attend to Kaia's needs should she need it?

      TRAFFORD: What do you mean both of us? You mean I'm coming?

      SEPHY: That is the implication yes. Sin will need a healer once I'm through with her...

      XAK: (surprised) You're planning on taking her alive?

      SEPHY: I am.

      XAK: Since when did you want to save her? It wasn't that long ago you were ready to shoot her dead...

      SEPHY: Because Xak, at that time I saw what you see now. A woman destined to commit horrendous crimes on this world and to all people living in it. However, I see her greatness exceeding that, and I wish to help her realise that.

      XAK: You know about her humanity?

      SEPHY: It wanes and waxes like the moon, but it is there and it is strong, and I refuse to give up on it.

      XAK looks at BROGAN doubtful, and he looks at him in return, reciprocating the varying faith they have in SEPHY'S hope...

      CHARLIE looks at XAK.

      CHARLIE: She's right.

      XAK looks at her questionably. SEPHY notices...

      SEPHY: (changing the subject) Anyway, we can converse about this another time. Right now, we have more pressing matters to attend to. While I attend to Sin, I will need everyone else to attend to the Lord Chancellor's army and to find Ursula and Constance.

      BROGAN: Who do you need?

      SEPHY: Everyone, minus Kaia and Elise. Oh and Sofia.

      BROGAN: Why Sofia?

      SEPHY smiles at him.

      SEPHY: We need a guardian angel.

      TRAFFORD looks confused, and XAK begins looking around.

      CHARLIE'S gone. SEPHY knows it and looks to him.

      SEPHY: Don't worry, she has things to attend to.

      XAK looks at her worried. He motions to the others.

      XAK: Go find the others, tell them what to do.

      BROGAN nods.

      BROGAN: Sure.

      SEPHY looks down as BROGAN and TRAFFORD move away. BROGAN looks back at XAK before disappearing with TRAFFORD.

      XAK waits till they're out of earshot before turning to SEPHY.

      XAK: Ok, what happened?

      SEPHY: How do you mean?

      XAK: When she left, what happened? Something's up...

      SEPHY sighs.

      SEPHY: When she is ready, she will be ready. Right now, let her go through the motions. She'll find her way back to you... I know she will...

      She smiles at him and puts a hand on his reassuringly, before turning and walking away. He feels SEPHY'S warmth and then watches her as she walks away.


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

      KAIA sits up in bed, straining through the pain. She attempts to sidle off the bed.

      CHARLIE (O/S): Sure you should be up?

      KAIA looks up in shock to see CHARLIE stood in the Medical Ward.

      KAIA: (hesitant) Well I've been lying down for like two weeks, so...

      CHARLIE walks closer to her now.

      KAIA: Look, I didn't get a chance to say anything before...

      CHARLIE: No you were too busy. I did actually notice.

      KAIA: I am so sorry for what you saw. And it was all me and not him. It was a moment of weakness which I needed. I need it to realise that there is nothing between us anymore... I know it, he knows it.

      CHARLIE: Good. Because If I even see your lips pout in his direction, I'll make the time you lived in hell seem like your honeymoon.

      KAIA looks her dead on in the eyes.

      KAIA: Fine.

      CHARLIE turns now and leaves the Medical Ward, KAIA watches her leave throughout...


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      MYSTIC LABS ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

      SHELTER is wandering around the Mystic Labs looking around noticing the difference. ELISE is with her.

      ELISE: (signing) I tried to put things back best I could.

      SHELTER smiles.

      SHELTER: (signing) You did well, thank you.

      ELISE now moves towards the filing cabinets. SHELTER follows her confused.

      SHELTER: (signing) What are we doing here though? Shouldn't we be preparing for what Persephone wishes us to do?

      ELISE: (signing) When Lance and I were tidying up I saw him moving some confidential files. Ursula's handwriting was on the cover.

      SHELTER: (signing) So?

      ELISE looks hesitant and sighs softly.

      ELISE: (signing) There's something you need to know... About Ursula...

      SHELTER'S confusion turns to curiosity as ELISE begins signing everything she knows, or to be more precise, doesn't know, about URSULA'S secret...


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      CATE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

      CATE is sat on her bed once again hugging a cushion tightly. There is a knock at the door.

      CATE: (blankly) It's open... (quietly) As always...

      The door open and CHARLIE fills its frame. CATE looks at her briefly before looking away. CHARLIE looks unsure.

      CHARLIE: I thought I'd come see you, seeing as it's quite clear you're not actively seeking company...

      CATE: Well I wasn't sure if you were still running away, or too busy talking to Kaia or whatever, so...

      CHARLIE walks in and closes the door.

      CHARLIE: (quietly) That's not fair. You have no idea what I'm going through... what I've been through...

      CATE: Yeah well I guess finally me and you have something in common again.

      CHARLIE looks at her beat.

      CHARLIE: What happened to you Cate? The drink, the partying, the vampires, and now this attitude... It's not you.

      CATE: It is now.

      CHARLIE sighs.

      CHARLIE: (annoyed) Well you better snap out of it. Because we have all lost someone and if we were all doing what you're doing, this will world would end in a matter of days.

      CATE looks up at her infuriated.

      CATE: Screw you...

      CHARLIE looks at her angry, then turns and leaves CATE'S room.


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - AFTERNOON

      The door to CATE'S room bursts open and CHARLIE storms into the corridor. She hurries down the corridor so quickly she doesn't even see that XAK and SEPHY are walking behind her.

      They look confused and they hurry to CATE'S door.

      SEPHY: Charlie...

      XAK: I'll go.

      He looks in CATE'S room to see her half in shadow, half out, on her bed.

      XAK: (quietly) Maybe you can talk some sense into her...

      As XAK hurries after CHARLIE while SEPHY looks at CATE'S room.

      She moves towards the door as the camera cuts away to XAK catching up with CHARLIE.

      XAK: Charlie... wait...

      CHARLIE: (without turning around) I cannot believe her...

      XAK grabs her arm and turns her around.

      XAK: Charlie! We all know Cate's less than herself right now...

      CHARLIE: (avoiding eye contact) If she even knew a fraction of...

      She stops herself.

      XAK: (curiously) Of what? What happened while you were gone...?

      CHARLIE looks away at the point where the wall meets the floor, a flood of tears welling in her mind, which she won't show... not to him...


      FLASH TO ? GREECE
      LOUNGE ? INT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? EVENING

      The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

      CHARLIE and ECHIDNA are stood in the lounge, both of them looking out on to the balcony. It's doors are shut and SEPHY is in deep conversation with SHELTER.

      We cannot hear what is being said.

      CHARLIE: So I know why you're here, but why Shelter?

      ECHIDNA: I have no idea. All I know is when Persephone arranged for my travel she said she must see Shelter immediately.

      CHARLIE: What's her deal anyway?

      ECHIDNA: She's a mystery, even to The Kalipso Syndicate. They took pity on her in war and gave her accommodation. That is the extent of their knowledge on her from what I know. She has no past, and she hasn't spoken a word since meeting them...

      CHARLIE looks at SHELTER. She's talking to SEPHY...

      CHARLIE: Well, she is now...

      ECHIDNA looks at CHARLIE now.

      ECHIDNA: Are you sure you're ready?

      CHARLIE: No.

      ECHIDNA: Ok.

      CHARLIE: Come on. Let's go...

      They both turn and walk off screen towards the door. The sound of the door opening and closing behind them is ignored by SEPHY...


      CUT TO ? GREECE
      PRAYER ROOM ? INT.DEMETER'S TEMPLE - EVENING

      We cut to the elaborately ornate prayer room of DEMETER. A large statue of her can be seen and candles and pews can be seen running throughout the room. There are pillars holding up small balconies with holes behind them, allowing the early moonlight to flood into the room.

      A man, MILES, is stood in front of the statue and various business people are sat in the pews listening to his speech. He's smiling and looking at them confidently.

      MILES: Throughout my years as a diplomat for this country I have striven to uphold to the future of the security of our countries. However I was wrong...

      The camera moves to one of the balconies. CHARLIE and ECHIDNA are lying flat on it peering through the gaps in the balcony to see MILES. ECHIDNA motions CHARLIE to keep quiet and the camera moves back to MILES.

      MILES: ...While the future is important, we would be foolish to forget and discard the rich heritage of this great nation.

      He gestures to the temple.

      MILES: This, my friends, is the richest of the heritage. This temple to the goddess Demeter is just one example of the many links we have here in Greece to the Ancient Greek world...

      His smile turns slightly sinister and he unbuttons the top three buttons of his shirt to reveal the necklace around his neck.

      The necklace CHARLIE stole from his dead body.

      Briefly we see CHARLIE'S eyes widen, before cutting back to MILES. Everyone sat in the pews look confused.

      MILES: ...And it is time I was foolish.

      He tilts his head backwards and begins talking in an ancient language. The camera cuts to CHARLIE and ECHIDNA.

      CHARLIE: (panicked, whispering) What's he doing?!

      ECHIDNA: No... He can't be...

      The camera cuts to the crowd as they begin whispering, confused. An ELDERLY MAN stands up, outraged.

      ELDERLY MAN: (shouting) Mr. Anderson! What are you doing?! This is highly...

      The ELDERLY MAN stops as a blinding green light fills the area and an aura of a beautiful woman hovers proudly above MILES.

      The camera cuts to ECHIDNA, dumbstruck.

      ECHIDNA: By the gods... Demeter...

      CHARLIE looks shocked, and too scared to move.

      The camera cuts back to MILES, who's eyes have turned maniacal and he glares deeply at the crowd who are looking in awe at the woman above him.

      DEMETER: (ethereally) Welcome...

      MILES necklace begins to burn brightly. A lightning bolt emblazed on it...

      MILES: (shouting) Bear witness mortals. You are about to watch one of the Ancient Goddesses of the Greek world die...

      CHARLIE: (screaming) NO!

      Her screams fall on deaf ears as his head tilts his head back. A giant bolt of lightning shoots down, crumbling and destroying a hole in the roof of the temple.

      It strikes DEMETER causing her to scream in agony and it anchors on the necklace of MILES who laughs.

      The people in the pews scream as the lightning reflects off his necklace and burns them all to cinders.

      Tears stream down both CHARLIE'S and ECHIDNA'S faces as they watch the scene helplessly.

      The people die...and gradually the form of CHARLIE'S grandmother implodes...dying in deathly agony...

      The lightning stops. DEMETER is dead; gone. Piles of ash lie where the business people were sat and MILES too has disappeared. The faint smell of burning and the crumbling of the rocks is all that can be heard as CHARLIE is cradled in the arms of ECHIDNA.

      CHARLIE: (crying) No...

      ECHIDNA: (crying) We could have done nothing... that was Ancient magic... It precedes even my extent.

      CHARLIE glares angrily over the shoulder of ECHIDNA at the empty spot where MILES stood.

      CHARLIE: He'll pay...


      FADE TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

      The colours on the screen return to normal as the camera shows CHARLIE still staring at the spot where the wall meets the floor, contemplating.

      XAK: Charlie?

      She looks to him now.

      CHARLIE: There's no time. Not now.

      XAK nods, understanding the exigency.

      XAK: Ok... but later? We'll talk?

      CHARLIE looks indifferent.

      CHARLIE: Perhaps...

      She looks away and then to him again briefly before turning and walking away. He watches her leave helplessly, wishing things could return to how they were...


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      CATE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? AFTERNOON

      SEPHY enters CATE'S room, and although the Slayer knows she is there, she does not acknowledge her presence. SEPHY leaves the door open and moves silently to the edge of CATE'S bed and sits down. She looks to her.

      SEPHY: I am very sorry about Toole.

      CATE remains silent, staring down at her hands.

      SEPHY: He was a wonderful man, one who helped me more than he could have ever known.

      She looks to CATE expectantly but she remains silent.

      SEPHY: You know, I do know what it is like to lose people; it's one of the downsides of being immortal...

      CATE: You have no idea what it's like.

      SEPHY listens now.

      CATE: I just wish...

      SEPHY: (cutting her off) You're not coming tonight.

      CATE looks at her surprised.

      SEPHY: I'm sorry but I feel it is the best for everyone if you remain here tonight. You're not in the correct mind frame to be up against your fianc?'s murderess.

      CATE doesn't protest but she clearly feels upset. SEPHY stands now and walks towards the door.

      SEPHY: Do whatever it takes to take you past this point Cate. You have the base at your disposal and its many commodities. Please... come back to us my dear...

      She leaves the room now, and the camera closes in on CATE'S face as she contemplates what SEPHY has told her.

      SEPHY (O/S): ...Stop destroying yourself...


      CUT TO ? NEW YORK
      STOCK IMAGES ? EXT.SKYLINE ? AFTERNOON/EVENING

      The camera shows the New York City skyline, the afternoon sun begins to wane and sinks behind the skyscrapers as the eerie half moon takes its place to form early evening.


      CUT TO ? NEW YORK
      UPSTAIRS ? INT.SIRENS ? EVENING

      BLACK is talking to the remainder of his vampire army silently as SIN walks aimlessly below them, behind the tinted glass in her throne room...

      BLACK: (quietly) We must launch an attack. It is imperative we drive away any impurities of humanity from within her.

      The vampires nod, agreeing.

      BLACK: Good...

      The camera moves away from BLACK, as him and the vampires move away, through the window, down into the throne room, to SIN...

      She looks to be looking around the empty room, searching for someone.

      SIN'S HUMANITY (O/S): Looking for me?

      SIN turns startled to see herself ? her humanity ? sat in the throne in a white dress.

      SIN'S HUMANITY: Because you know, you don't have far to look...

      She taps her temple.

      SIN'S HUMANITY: ...I'm all in here.

      SIN: And that's where you'll stay.

      SIN'S HUMANITY: I existed before you did my dear. You're just some parasite who leeched on to me and took me away from myself and my family... You shall perish as quickly as you destroyed me...

      SIN rushes forwards now and grabs her humanity by its neck. SIN'S HUMANITY does not falter in her confidence.

      SIN: You cannot win against me. You're mortal... I am everything you're not.

      SIN'S HUMANITY: That is why I shall succeed.

      SIN'S HUMANITY eyes her curiously, and SIN does the same, still not removing her hand from the throat...


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? EVENING

      KAIA is stood by the medical cabinet and she's attempting to open a nearly empty bottle of painkillers but with her arm in a sling she seems to be finding it difficult.

      She slams the painkillers on the counter in frustration and sighs.

      BROGAN (O/S): Let me...

      He moves on screen and smiles at her reassuringly. He reaches out and opens the painkillers and hands two to her.

      KAIA: I hate not being able to come tonight. I owe those vampires a whole can of magical pain...

      BROGAN: It's for the best.

      KAIA: No, what's for the best is me out in the field.

      BROGAN: Speaking for myself and your arm... I can say that is not the best solution right now.

      KAIA: So what, I can't handle myself anymore because of one spell?

      BROGAN sighs.

      BROGAN: Ok, I can see whatever I say is not gonna go through so I'm just gonna go...

      KAIA: Fine. Go. Kick ass.

      BROGAN: We'll talk when I'm back though?

      KAIA: Whatever.

      She looks away now and he nods before turning and leaving the Medical Ward and the torn KAIA THORN behind.


      CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      MYSTIC LABS ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? EVENING

      ELISE and SHELTER are sat on the floor of the Mystic Labs going through some of the files. Eventually ELISE stops looking through the files and looks at SHELTER.

      SHELTER can feel her friend's eyes on her and looks up to her.

      ELISE: (signing) Where did you go?

      SHELTER pauses.

      SHELTER: (signing) You know where I went, with Echidna to find Persephone...

      ELISE: (signing) Ok... Well why did you go?

      SHELTER pauses again, unsure of how to answer... but wanting, with every fibre of her being, to do so...

      SHELTER: (signing) I...

      The door opens and SEPHY enters. Her timing is almost too accurate to be a coincidence, but as ever she maintains her calm.

      SEPHY looks at them both.

      SEPHY: I trust you too have been acquainted once again?

      SHELTER nods but ELISE looks at SEPHY, slightly dwarfed at her presence.

      SEPHY: (smiling) Good, but Shelter... It is time to go now.

      SHELTER nods and then turns to her friend.

      SHELTER: (signing) It's time...

      ELISE nods.

      ELISE: (signing) Be careful, please?

      SHELTER: (signing) Of course. We'll continue this later...

      ELISE: (signing) Thanks, oh and look out for Trafford too? He's hopeless.

      SHELTER smiles again and stands, moving towards the exit. She moves out of the room into the corridor and ELISE looks at SEPHY who remains looking at ELISE also.

      Their eyes share a few seconds meeting before SEPHY turns and leaves the room, leaving ELISE'S mind reeling with wonder.


      FADE TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
      LOBBY ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - EVENING

      The scene opens on SEPHY stood in the middle of the room with XAK, CHARLIE, DANTE, LANCE, BROGAN, ECHIDNA, SHELTER stood in front of her as her army.

      SEPHY: I am extremely gifted in these shaken ages to be attributed with an army of people such as you.

      The camera scans them all, each one determined in their own way to succeed.

      SEPHY (O/S): Tonight will be hard for you all. We will face my granddaughter and I promise success. I cannot stress enough that I wish for her to be alive, but you can salt the ground with the dust of her army.

      The camera moves back to SEPHY now.

      SEPHY: I, and I alone, will face Sin. Her powers are on par with mine and mine only. The rest of you are there solely to destroy the Lord Chancellor's army and to find Ursula and Constance. Understood?

      Everyone in their own time nods.

      SEPHY: Good... (firmly) Because I refuse to have a renegade in the midst. The sun is set. You have half an hour. The call of Sirens is already deafening to my ears...

      Everyone disperses to get ready, CHARLIE lingers somewhat and captures her mother's glance. They break eye contact as she too leaves.

      SEPHY alone in the lobby sighs softly. She looks up at the roof, her eyes subtly glazed with a tear.


      FLASH TO - GREECE
      PATH ? EXT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? NIGHT

      The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

      CHARLIE and ECHIDNA are stood at the foot of the path leading up to SEPHY'S apartment. The flowers and grass softly sway from side to side in the sea breeze that has elevated.

      CHARLIE sighs, both their faces red with tear scars.

      CHARLIE: How do I tell her?

      ECHIDNA: I have no idea. I never thought we'd have to...

      CHARLIE looks at her helplessly and ECHIDNA reaches out to grip her tightly. Slowly they move towards the apartment.

      As they open the door and move inside, the camera stays outside and moves down to look at a bed of Iris flowers at the foot of the path.

      There is silence for a moment and then the sound of women talking. There's another pause, then an almighty deafening cry of grief.

      Instantaneously the grass turns brown and dies and the Iris wilt and tilt their dying heads to the unforgiving earth.

        OPEN ON ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        DANTE AND LANCE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - EVENING

        DANTE and LANCE are standing back to back as they remove their shirts and stare straight ahead as they strap on their battle gear. Neither one talks to the other and neither one of them turns around...


        CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        SEPHY'S QUARTERS ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - EVENING

        SEPHY is sat on the edge of her bed. Her hair is tied up tightly and she is wearing a black battle suit. She stares aimlessly ahead as ECHIDNA, who is in soft focus in the background changing.

        SEPHY: Do you think I have made bad decisions?

        ECHIDNA: Hm?

        SEPHY: In my time. Do you think I'll look back on it one day, when they're all gone and I continue to exist, and be plagued with regret?

        ECHIDNA moves closer to her now and kneels down in front of the doubting goddess.

        ECHIDNA: It's natural to be feeling this way Persephone. Our brothers and sisters have faced dilemmas like this for centuries, and they continue to strive.

        SEPHY: But how do we exist for a world that has waning belief in our reign?

        ECHIDNA: We're not fighting for that anymore.

        SEPHY: I know... But it still doesn't stop the pangs of regret for my actions...

        ECHIDNA reaches up and strokes her sister's hair.

        ECHIDNA: We'll get through this, together ? just like we once did.

        SEPHY smiles thankfully at her, and then ECHIDNA stands moving towards the doorway. SEPHY sighs and eventually stands, following her out.


        CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        XAK AND CHARLIE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - EVENING

        XAK and CHARLIE are stood in their room, they're both getting ready and suiting up with various weaponry and armour.

        XAK: You ready?

        She pauses.

        CHARLIE: Almost.

        XAK: I didn't mean the attire. I meant the big rescue and intervention thing.

        CHARLIE: Well, a few months back I wouldn't have imagined myself under the ocean fighting alongside Mrs Thorn in an organisation sponsored by my mother. But hey, things change...

        He looks beat slightly.

        XAK: (quietly) But Sin, this whole thing with saving her...

        She looks exasperated and now finally ready she looks at him.

        CHARLIE: I don't know why you want her dead.

        XAK: (probing) I agree that with her humanity fighting back it makes things more problematic but, I don't know why you don't want her dead considering what she's done. Maybe it has something to do with what happened while you went away?

        CHARLIE: Or maybe, I've had enough of death, and enough of playing the executioner. I thought out of everyone, you'd feel the same...

        She walks past him and once again he watches her leave, and once again he watches her avoid letting him in.

        He stands in the room for a moment longer and stares down, before turning and leaving the room also.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        STREET ? EXT.HIGH STREET ? EVENING

        SEPHY, with CHARLIE and ECHIDNA either side of her are now marching down the blacking streets of New York. SEPHY has an earpiece in her ear. They eventually move off screen to show XAK, DANTE, LANCE, BROGAN, TRAFFORD and SHELTER walking behind them.

        BROGAN: (turning to XAK) So what's up with Charlie? She seems, different.

        XAK: I don't know. She won't let me in, but I deserve that...

        BROGAN: What because of Kaia?

        XAK: Kinda, yeah.

        BROGAN: You can't keep beating yourself up over that.

        XAK: I know, but...

        BROGAN: No but. Everyone's moved on now, stop being a girl.

        XAK: What do you mean everyone's moved on?

        BROGAN: Uh, nothing... Let's just concentrate on the mission.

        XAK nods.

        XAK: Sure ok.

        He looks at BROGAN for a moment longer, wondering what he actually meant.

        They move off screen, and so do TRAFFORD and SHELTER who are walking behind them, leaving DANTE and LANCE again. DANTE is looking around cautiously at the streets in case of another manhunt attack, but the streets are oddly quiet.

        LANCE: So are we avoiding talking or are we just being cautious?

        DANTE: I dunno, you tell me.

        LANCE: Fine, whatever. Let's just stick to what's important...

        They all move off screen and the camera moves back to SEPHY once again. She touches her ear and looks up.

        SEPHY: How's it looking from up there?


        CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        INTELLIGENCE UNIT ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? EVENING

        SOFIA is sat in front of various monitors looking at streaming satellite video of the gang walking down the high street.

        SEPHY'S voice comes out of a loudspeaker on the desk.

        SOFIA: All looking good from up here. No presences to note within your location. Safe to proceed. Guardian angel over and out.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        STREET ? EXT.HIGH STREET - EVENING

        SEPHY nods and turns to the others.

        SEPHY: We are close. Come...

        She turns and walks determined towards Sirens.


        FLASH TO ? GREECE
        SEPHY'S ROOM ? INT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? EVENING

        The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

        SEPHY is lying on her bed, her head resting on CHARLIE'S lap as she dotingly caresses her mother's hair. The light is off and both of them lie in darkness.

        CHARLIE: Echidna says there's nothing we could have done.

        SEPHY: (quietly) She's probably right.

        CHARLIE glares deeply into the darkness.

        CHARLIE: I swear to you... I'll kill that bastard...

        SEPHY: You mustn't.

        CHARLIE: You can't talk me out of this. I will end him for what he has done...

        SEPHY sighs.

        SEPHY: (reflectively) So much death... All because of me...

        CHARLIE doesn't know how to answer...

        BREE, SKYE, RACK, CHARLIE, ASHBY, TOOLE, CHRISTIAN, MELODY, MACIE, DEMETER...

        Had they all died because of her?


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        THRONE ROOM ? INT.SIRENS - EVENING

        The colours return to normal as we sharply cut to SIN as she continues to grip on to the neck of her humanity, attempting to squeeze the life from it with her strength. SIN'S HUMANITY however, looks to be unfaltering.

        SIN'S HUMANITY: (raising an eyebrow) It would be easier if you could just kill me wouldn't it?

        SIN looks scared.

        SIN'S HUMANITY raises her fist and punches SIN backwards so she falls to the floor.

        Briefly the camera cuts to BLACK watching curiously from a door, which is half open ? he can only see SIN falling backwards.

        The camera cuts back to SIN lying on the floor looking at her humanity.

        SIN'S HUMANITY: The sooner you realise that I am here to stay, and the sooner you accept that, the quicker this can be over.

        She hurries to SIN and looks into her eyes, causing the deadly murderess' eyes to open and flash white briefly before turning to their normal colour.


        CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        INTELLIGENCE UNIT ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ - EVENING

        SOFIA continues to keep an eye on the screens as the door opens and KAIA enters. SOFIA looks up.

        SOFIA: Hi.

        KAIA: It's quiet.

        SOFIA: Welcome to the wonderful world of staying behind.

        KAIA walks towards her looking around. SOFIA watches her.

        SOFIA: You ok?

        KAIA: Yeah, it's just weird without Con. It's weird how quickly people adjust.

        SOFIA: She'll be fine, she's tough.

        KAIA doesn't reply...

        SOFIA doesn't ask another question.

        KAIA: I think I'm just gonna go watch some boring reality television programme.

        SOFIA: (smiling) Reality my ass.

        KAIA: (smiling back) Tell me about it.

        She begins walking towards the door.

        KAIA: Just, let me know if I can do anything, or if there's any news...

        SOFIA: Will do...

        She watches KAIA leave, and looks a bit confused as to what the purpose of her coming in the Intelligence Unit was. She looks back to the screens.


        CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        CATE'S ROOM ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? EVENING

        CATE is going through deep withdrawal symptoms. Her body is convulsing, she's sweating and she's bitten her once perfectly manicured nails down to the cuticle revealing raw bloody skin underneath.

        Random specks of tears stream her face as she pants for breath.

        CATE: (crying, intermittent through breaths) I need it... I need it... I need it...

        She slowly moves out of the bed and she staggers towards the door...


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        THRONE ROOM ? INT.SIRENS ? EVENING

        SIN is sat on the floor still. Her eyes stare ahead blankly. Gradually, around her the remainder of her vampire army approach, wondering. Also, all the children approach now... curious. BLACK walks up to her and kneels.

        BLACK: My dear?

        SIN looks at him startled, snapping out of her daydream.

        SIN: (softly) Black?

        BLACK: Yes? Is there something you need.

        SIN: Help me up...

        BLACK: Do you feel weak?

        SIN: I feel different.

        He offers her a hand and she takes it standing. She looks around at the other vampires who look at her cautiously.

        BLACK: (wondering) How do you mean?

        SIN: My humanity was fighting against me. Ever since I took those women hostage... It's been fighting against me.

        BLACK: Have you exiled it now?

        SIN snaps her head back at him.

        SIN: (angrily) No.

        She holds out both her hands and all the vampires except BLACK clutch their chests in pain, including the children. She concentrates closely on them and her hands begin to shake.

        All of a sudden each of the vampire's dead hearts burst through their chests and they instantaneously dust and fall to the floor.

        BLACK looks horrified as every member of his family, (man, woman and child), dies, leaving behind only the echo of their screams.

        HUMANE SIN stares at all the dead non-beating hearts which are floating in front of her. She glares deeply at them and her eyes burn angrily causing the hearts to combust and fall to the floor as ash and dust.

        BLACK stares aghast at the ashes of his family lying around him. He looks up at SIN, enraged.

        BLACK: (seething) You... You...

        HUMANE SIN turns to him as he goes to punch her. She backhands him before he gets the chance to touch her.

        He flies back and he hits the wall, falling to the floor. He groans and coughs, looking up at her.

        BLACK: How... How could you? You were my queen...

        HUMANE SIN looks at him disgusted. Her humanity had won...

        HUMANE SIN: Your queen has left the building, "Lord Chancellor"...

        She moves closer to him.

        HUMANE SIN: You sicken me.

        She kneels down in front of him.

        HUMANE SIN: Did you honestly think my endgame would have been a bunch of vampires?

        She holds her hand over his chest and BLACK begins to feel his chest vibrate... She was tearing out his heart.

        He looks dead on in her eyes as his heart is removed from his chest and she looks into his as well.

        The camera shows an extreme close up of his eyes as their desperate aged glare turns into dust...

        The camera then shows an extreme close up of HUMANE SIN'S eyes. They turn from anger into surprise...

        SIN had managed to fight back against her humanity. She was back again.

        She clutches her head and then tilts her head back. The struggle between the two opposing SIN'S is neck and neck.

        SIN: (screaming) NO!

        Her humanity might have won that round... But now SIN was back.

        She looks around horrified at what her humanity has done. She falls to her knees and claws at the dust that was once LORD CHANCELLOR BLACK.

        SIN: (horrified) No... No... No...

        The camera rotates around her panicked expression. Her empire was crumbling around her.

        SIN: What have I done...?

        The camera stops and shows SIN'S HUMANITY standing behind her again, smiling.

        SIN'S HUMANITY: I think you'll find it's what "I" did actually. You're fading girl... I'm winning.

        SIN turns around and goes to open her mouth.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        ENTRANCE ? EXT. SIRENS ? EVENING

        The gang approach the doorway to Sirens, and SEPHY marches up to the door without stopping.

        SEPHY glares deeply at the door and holds out her hand. The door bursts off its hinges and she storms into the club, closely followed by everyone.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        THRONE ROOM ? INT.SIRENS ? EVENING

        The camera shows SIN at the other end of the room. She's kneeling on the floor clutching at dust...

        SIN: What have I done...?

        There's a pause, but there's no one else in the room ? it's like someone is replying to her.

        Suddenly she turns around and opens her mouth.

        SIN: (shouting) Get out!

        She looks surprised when she turns around to see her grandmother staring at her. Either side of her is XAK and CHARLIE. Behind them is everyone else who looks slightly nervous.

        SIN smiles evily at them.

        SIN: Hey granny.

        SEPHY stares at her and then motions to the others.

        SEPHY: Find them...

        XAK looks at her.

        XAK: You sure you're gonna be ok?

        CHARLIE nods.

        CHARLIE: She'll be fine. Come on...

        XAK hates leaving SEPHY but he moves away with DANTE, BROGAN and TRAFFORD.

        CHARLIE moves in the opposite direction with LANCE, ECHIDNA and SHELTER.

        SIN watches them disperse and then stands. XAK and CHARLIE both watch her before leaving the area.

        SIN: (to XAK and CHARLIE) Good luck. You'll need it.

        She looks back to SEPHY.

        SIN: Well, we finally meet. I mean properly.

        SEPHY looks at the dust on the floor and moves closer, kicking the dust aside.

        SEPHY: Problems in the ranks? Is this what you've resorted to? How desperate...

        SIN: It was momentary insanity that made me think vampires could be of any use to me. I don't need them.

        SEPHY: Is that so...

        SIN: I've got to say. I've been looking forward to this for a long time.

        SEPHY: Oh?

        SIN: Well once you're scattered around this club... I'll have nothing standing in my way.

        SEPHY: We'll see.

        SEPHY holds her hand by her side and green energy draws to her hand forming green energy. SIN notices and does the same... her energy is a darker shade.

        Slowly the energy builds up and simultaneously as SIN and SEPHY begin circling one another and then together they blast a beam of energy directly at one another. They both attempt to hold their own but it is obvious they are both struggling. The energy in the middle suddenly explodes and both SIN and SEPHY are sent flying backwards. SIN causes a dent in the wall and SEPHY breaks the bar in two.

        SIN looks at SEPHY smirking as she removes herself from the wall.

        SIN: Getting tired old woman?

        SEPHY looks at her angrily and then moving with super speed appears behind her. She grabs SIN in a headlock.

        SEPHY: Not even close.

        SIN struggles to free herself from SEPHY'S grasp.

        SIN: I will exile your kind to the farthest reaches.

        SEPHY: Please...

        SIN suddenly disappears and appears behind SEPHY. SEPHY looks genuinely shocked, unaware of this ability. She turns to look at her.

        SIN: What? Oh the teleportation? Right, I've learnt a whole host of new tricks...

        SEPHY slaps her around the face and SIN retaliates with a punch around the face causing SEPHY'S lip to bleed. SEPHY grabs her granddaughter's head and drives it firmly into her forehead, which causes SIN'S nose to bleed. She blinks, dazed...

        SIN: (slowly) Bitch.

        She's breathing heavily. As well as being physically tired she's mentally exhausted; her humanity was making it hard for her. Despite this, she punches her grandmother causing SEPHY to fall backwards.

        SEPHY: Didn't anyone teach you to respect your elders?

        SIN: (weakly) No. I was taught to kill them...

        SEPHY flips to her feet and round house kicks SIN to the floor. SIN looks exhausted now and lies on the floor looking around confused. SEPHY rams her foot against SIN'S neck, pinning her to the ground.

        SIN looks at her.

        SIN: Kill me then...

        SEPHY looks upset that this is what it has come down to.

        SEPHY: No.

        She pauses.

        SEPHY: Where are they? Ursula and Constance?

        SIN looks at her and then smirks...


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        UPSTAIRS ? INT.SIRENS ? EVENING

        XAK, DANTE, BROGAN and TRAFFORD appear in the upstairs area of Sirens. The room is empty and void of any life. They look around helplessly.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        ALLEY ? EXT.SIRENS ? EVENING

        CHARLIE, LANCE, ECHIDNA and SHELTER all burst into the alleyway outside the back of Sirens. The one where CATE killed FARAH and LEO...

        CHARLIE looks around the alleyway.

        LANCE: They're not in the club. There's no where they could hide.

        ECHIDNA: They could be anywhere...

        She looks to ECHIDNA worried.

        CHARLIE: ...Mom.

        They turn and hurry back into the club.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        THRONE ROOM ? INT.SIRENS ? EVENING

        SIN begins laughing.

        SEPHY: What?

        SIN: You think I'd honestly keep them here?

        SEPHY: You stupid girl. Where are they?

        Just as she says this everyone arrives back in the room and looks in shock at SEPHY having the upper hand. She'd done it...

        SEPHY looks at them and as she does SIN teleports away from underneath her and disappears.

        Her deathly laughter echoes throughout the room. Everyone looks around not seeing her.

        CHARLIE: Where is she?

        SIN (O/S): (echoing) Did you think it would be this easy? This is only the beginning...

        Suddenly the walls of the club and SIN'S throne room burst into flames and the whole club blazes into a burning inferno. Everyone looks shocked.

        SEPHY: Everyone! Out now!

        ECHIDNA grabs SHELTER and TRAFFORD. DANTE rushes towards the exit with LANCE and SEPHY and BROGAN are next. CHARLIE stands looking around at the flames.

        XAK: Charlie! Come on!

        CHARLIE: No... It wasn't supposed to be like this. We have to stop her...

        XAK: Charlie we'll die if we stay.

        He grabs a hold of her hand and pulls her away.


        CUT TO ? NEW YORK
        ENTRANCE ? EXT. SIRENS ? EVENING

        Everyone jumps through the burning doorway and they hurry to the other side of the street just in time for the club to explode. Everyone is blown to the floor and they look back at what is left of Sirens in amazement.

        TRAFFORD: Oh god...

        BROGAN looks horrified.

        BROGAN: No...

        XAK: We were so close.

        CHARLIE looks at SEPHY, desperately.

        CHARLIE: Mom, what do we do...

        The camera closes in on SEPHY'S helpless face.

        CHARLIE: Mom?


        CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
        MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? NIGHT

        The camera shows the Medical Ward in disarray. Black puddles are all over the room and a quivering CATE is stood in front of a mixing bowl full of her home made Onyx Tonic. The liquid twists and turns with discord and passion. It reflects in her eyes and she looks at it hopefully. She grabs a syringe and fills it with the liquid. She holds it up to her eyes and stares at it longingly.

        She doesn't even hear the door open and ELISE enter.

        ELISE looks at her horrified realising what she's done...

        CATE turns and sees her there.

        CATE: (panicked) Elise... I just...

        ELISE hurries towards her and begins wrestling with her over the syringe desperately trying to help her.

        CATE: (angrily) No!

        She punches ELISE and she flies into one of the beds. She falls to the floor.

        CATE gasps and clutches her mouth.

        The camera pans down to show ELISE lying unconscious on the floor, blood seeping from a cut on her head...

        CUT TO BLACK

          KAIA is lying on her bed watching television. She looks bored and her arm is hurting, she cringes at the pain.

          She reaches for her pills but they're empty. She looks at them and sighs. She stands, walking towards the door.


          CUT TO ? NEW YORK
          ALLEY ? EXT.STREETS - NIGHT

          Everyone is stood in an alleyway, torn. The sound of fire engines rushing to Sirens in the distance can be heard.

          BROGAN: What do we do? They could be anywhere; she could have done anything to them...

          ECHIDNA: She wouldn't.

          BROGAN: Why not Echidna? She dusted her own army... What makes you think there's exemplary treatment for them?

          SEPHY: Enough.

          Everyone looks to her.

          SEPHY: Tonight was not a success. We did not get them back and I failed to capture Sin. However, her army are dead... She's seriously damaged now, and extremely vulnerable.

          XAK: What do we do?

          SEPHY: Go back to the base, see if Sofia spotted any clues as to where she went. We'll take our next move from there.

          CHARLIE: What about you?

          SEPHY looks to ECHIDNA.

          SEPHY: We'll do a sweep of the state...

          ECHIDNA nods. SEPHY looks to CHARLIE momentarily and then in a blink of an eye both her and ECHIDNA disappear. Everyone looks at one another beat.

          XAK: Come on then. You heard the lady.

          TRAFFORD pats BROGAN on the shoulder supportively and they, along with SHELTER begin heading back towards the base. DANTE looks at LANCE and they too walk silently behind them.

          XAK moves towards CHARLIE.

          XAK: I'm sorry...

          She looks at him and nods.

          CHARLIE: Me too.

          XAK: Come on. There's nothing we could do here.

          CHARLIE: There should be...

          XAK: I know.

          He puts an arm around her and they walk towards the camera. The camera moves in on CHARLIE'S face...


          FLASH TO ? GREECE
          BALLROOM ? INT.HOTEL ? NIGHT

          The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

          The camera shows a masquerade ball. Women and men in haunting masks and costumes dance elegantly around the room to some beautiful music.

          The music stops and the camera closes in on a woman in a red dress dancing with another man. She stops and he bows to her. She curtseys and walks away.

          She walks away from the dance floor to the bar. As she walks she notices that all of the men in the room are wearing necklaces like MILES. He wasn't the only one...

          As she arrives at the bar she lifts her mask up.

          It's CHARLIE.

          CHARLIE: (to the barman) Champagne please.

          He nods and turns to pour her a glass.

          MILES (O/S): You know, you shouldn't remove your mask during the ball.

          CHARLIE turns to see MILES stood next to her. He smiles, and he isn't wearing his mask either. CHARLIE reciprocates despite wishing to wring his neck.

          CHARLIE: What's your excuse?

          MILES: Touch?.

          The barman places a glass champagne in front of CHARLIE along with the bottle.

          MILES: I'm Miles.

          CHARLIE holds out her hand.

          CHARLIE: Pleasure to meet you Miles.

          He kisses it and she feels a shiver of repulsion run through her. She remains composed however and smiles flirtatiously.

          MILES: You know this party's kind of dull. Want to go somewhere more private?

          CHARLIE smiles.

          CHARLIE: I thought you'd never ask.

          They turn and leave the bar, CHARLIE taking with her the bottle of champagne.


          CUT TO ? GREECE
          MILES' ROOM ? INT.HOTEL ? NIGHT

          The door opens and MILES enters, followed by CHARLIE. She subtly locks the door.

          MILES: The view from the balcony is amazing. You should see...

          He is cut off as CHARLIE sharply brings the bottle of champagne over his head, knocking him out cold.

          CHARLIE: No thanks.

          She stares at his unconscious body and lifts her dress up to reveal a handgun strapped to her thigh.


          CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
          MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? NIGHT

          CATE is pacing the room unsure of what to do. ELISE is still out for the count...

          CATE: Oh god...

          The door opens and KAIA enters. She looks confused at CATE.

          KAIA: Cate? Are you...

          Before she can finish her sentence she notices the mess and ELISE on the floor. CATE looks at her.

          KAIA: ...Oh god. What have you done?

          She moves towards ELISE but CATE hurries forward and pushes KAIA into the wall. She hits her head and she falls to the floor. The camera stays ground level on KAIA as we see CATE in the background hurrying to the door and breezing out into the corridor.


          CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
          CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? NIGHT

          CATE walks down one of the corridors of the base. Her face tired and worn. She stops all of a sudden and looks at something.

          The doorway. The Aperture...

          She knocks three times... The door opens...

          She moves inside and the door closes behind her.


          CUT TO - THE APERTURE
          DARK SPACE ? INT.ENTRANCE - UNKNOWN

          CATE stands in the darkness, breathing softly and irregularly.

          CATE (V/O): (echoing) Forget yourself.

          CATE: I want...

          CATE (V/O): (echoing) Forget yourself.

          She stops.

          CATE: I "need"... to be forgotten...

          The room fills with a blinding white light...

          CATE (V/O): (echoing) Forget yourself.


          CUT TO ? NEW YORK
          BRIDGE ? EXT.CENTRAL PARK ? NIGHT

          From separate directions SEPHY and ECHIDNA meet in the middle of the bridge. They look around, breathless and desperately.

          SEPHY: Anything?

          ECHIDNA shakes her head.

          ECHIDNA: You?

          SEPHY declines.

          ECHIDNA: If they're not in the state, they could be anywhere. And so could Sin...

          SEPHY: Then I have failed... I failed them...

          She looks around the empty park in shock..

          She's lost...


          FLASH TO ? GREECE
          BALCONY ? EXT.CLIFFSIDE APARTMENT ? AFTERNOON

          The colours on the screen are blurred, as is the whole image, it looks static.

          SEPHY is wrapped in a blanket and is sat on the balcony. A phone is on the table and she picks it up.

          SEPHY: Hello?

          The faint sound of CHARLIE on the other end can be heard.

          SEPHY: Is it done?

          She pauses.

          SEPHY: I see.

          She pauses again.

          SEPHY: If there are more like him we need to leave. It's not safe here anymore...

          She listens to her daughter's final remarks.

          SEPHY: Ok. I love you.

          She places the phone back on the table and sighs softly, staring out at the sea which laps slowly at the shore below her.


          CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
          LOBBY ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? NIGHT

          The door to the base opens and everyone minus SEPHY and ECHIDNA return to the base. They're all silent and all move away alone or in pairs.

          XAK with CHARLIE.

          DANTE with LANCE.

          SHELTER with BROGAN.

          TRAFFORD moves away on his own towards the Medical Ward...


          CUT TO - UNKNOWN
          DARK ROOM ? INT.UNKNOWN BUILDING ? NIGHT

          The camera focuses on the chairs that URSULA and CONSTANCE were sat in. The chains have been torn of the chairs.

          The chairs are empty.


          CUT TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
          MEDICAL WARD ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? NIGHT

          The camera focuses on the door as it opens and TRAFFORD enters.

          His eyes widen as he enters and his mouth opens, aghast...

          SONG: MIKA ? OVER MY SHOULDER

          The piano begins to play as...


          FLASH TO ? THE APERTURE
          BEACH ? EXT.UNKNOWN ? UNKNOWN

          The light dies down as CATE arrives on a beach. It is dark and around her she is washed with the glow of a small moon. She looks around her surroundings and then down at the Onyx Tonic in her hand.

          Slowly she moves forwards and we can see where she is.

          L'Azura.

          She walks towards the tower... (The music below plays throughout)

          "Over my shoulder, running away
          Feels like I'm falling, losing my way
          Cold and dry
          Cold and dry...
          "


          FADE TO ? ATLANTIC OCEAN
          CORRIDOR ? INT.KALIPSO SYNDICATE HQ ? NIGHT

          The camera shows XAK and CHARLIE moving down the corridor in slow motion. They walk together but they are stood with a gap between them and they look beaten... (The music below plays throughout)

          "Fog out my daylight, torture my night.
          Feels like I'm falling, far out of sight...
          "


          FADE TO ? THE APERTURE
          CORRIDOR ? INT.TOWER ? UNKNOWN

          CATE walks through the tower's corridors. It's not the same island where MELODY and LANCE were. It's a different one. The corridor is different and the room doors are open. The rooms aren't cells, but they're dark and the eyes of the creatures inside can be seen, piercing the black...

          As she moves past each room, it's occupant moves towards the door to watch her. She moves instinctively staring blankly ahead. (The music below plays throughout)

          "Cold
          Drunk
          Tired
          Lost...
          "


          FADE TO ? THE APERTURE
          THE ROOM ? INT.TOWER ? UNKNOWN

          CATE arrives at a room and all that is inside is a lonely bed.

          She knows: This is her room...

          The piano interlude plays as she moves inside the room. She sits on the bed and looks down, staring at the syringe in her hand.


          FLASH TO ?

          CHARLIE and CATE as children, playing in slow motion.


          FLASH TO ?

          CATE in high school laughing with The Clique, their laughs are seen in slow motion.


          FLASH TO ?

          CATE dancing in slow motion in The Bronze.


          FLASH TO ?

          CATE in bed with TOOLE on top of her. Kissing her, making love to her...

          Everything just moves slowly.

          (The music below plays throughout)

          "Over my shoulder, running away,

          FLASH TO ? THE APERTURE
          THE ROOM ? INT.TOWER ? UNKNOWN

          CATE looks at the syringe one final time, before turning it on herself and piercing her arm with the needle. She presses down and all the liquid injects into her veins...

          The black void pumps through her, tainting her entirely. (The music below plays throughout)

          " Cold, dry,
          Cold and dry.
          Fog out my daylight, torture my night.
          Feels like I'm falling, far out of sight...
          "

          She breathes softly as she lies back on the bed. Her eyes stare at the ceiling as she stops breathing.

          Her eyes just stare. No breaths are made... (The music below plays throughout)

          "Cold
          Drunk...
          "


          FADE TO ? THE APERTURE
          CORRIDOR ? INT.TOWER ? UNKNOWN

          The camera shows the corridor outside the room CATE is in. We can see her body lying on the bed through the doorway as dozens of creatures begin moving towards the doorway curious to see what is inside... (The music below plays throughout)

          "Cold and drunk..."

          FADE TO BLACK

          CATE (V/O): This is the end...
