a tribute to western
imperialism that supermarket was like
a bad trip
with the shaking and paranoia
and too many trolleys
all running astray their drivers
equally drug ****ed
and we loved this place
we loved it so much
it was the adventure we craved
and yes it was a supermarket
just a supermarket but
dammit it was cool
those shop girls
on the roller blades
pineapple in chocolate
and the fish splashing
and the beer in that caf?
olive oil and the shelves stocked from floor to ceiling
all those hard earned crowns turning
into exotic danish cheese and
tomatoes red fresh and bright.
the tram trip home
jolting perilously to and fro was
so real.
