Okay, I am bored and one of my favourite distractions when I am bored is making lists. I took that cue from Nick Hornby's protagonist in 'High Fidelity' who always made lists about everything to simplify things in his life and although lists are always inadequate and you usually forget the most important things, it's just fun!

Faith: the last conversation between Dean and Layla! I loved their chemistry and the depth of emotion that Dean conveyed in this scene.

Nightshifter: the entire episode! Dean is so self-confident and in charge in this episode, which makes him even sexier than usual!

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things: the last scene of the episode where Dean confesses his feelings of guilt over John's death to Sam! Angsty crying Dean just breaks my heart!

Heart: Dean flinching at the sound of the gun shot and spilling tears for Sammy! So sad!

What Is And What Should Never Be: The very last scene of the episode where Dean looks so heartbroken at having lost so much in his life. That scene just breaks my heart!

Okay, I really tried to not pick what other people had for these next few, but I adore all the moments already listed.

Dean Moments only five? this is going to be tough to figure only five per episode. what? for the series?!!! *thud*Impossible!

Hookman - "You don't have to go to college to be a genius" after explaining about rock salt in shotgun shells. CHOSEN BECAUSE I love how Dean has his own sense of smarts and is so proud of himself even though he basically has an appearance of being not bright.

Pilot - The bridge defending mom. CHOSEN BECAUSE it's very endearing that a young man still has so much respect for his mom (and therefore women).

Salvation - His remaining calm while Sam tries to provoke him about going after the demon. (heck if I can remember that actual quote while Sam's holding him against the wall). CHOSEN BECAUSE I love how Dean gets choked up when telling how much he loves his family.

Crossroad Blues - the entire scene with the demoness CHOSEN BECAUSE I love Dean's cockiness, Dean's Impala, Dean's easy lying and deception, but most of all that Dean is grossed out by the hot chick because she's a demoness. Way to go Dean not being enticed by the dark side.

IMTOD - Final scenes with the Reaper. I love his entire speech about having to be there to save Sammy. I love the ambiguity on whether he was going to peacefully chose to move on or be hardheaded and stick around to hell with the consequences.

Sam Moments
ELAC - "We don't want normal. We want this"
Hellhouse- The glue on the beer bottle. "I did"
Nightshifter- Taking out the two swat members with only his bare hands.
Scarecrow - Rescuing Dean and telling him he stole a car to get there.
IMTOD - At the salvage yard, checking out the Impala and telling Bobby they were saving it.

Brotherly Moments
ELAC - Dean leaving the clown chair for Sam
Phantom Traveler - investigating the plane and dean and his homemade emf
Heart - rock, paper, scissors "Dean, always with the scissors."
Tall Tales - Can I say all of Dean's tales about Sammy? Well what about when Bobby lectures them at the table telling them they're blind and they should have known it was a trickster.

Crossroad blues - love the way he kinda hesitates when talking to the demon, only to trap it later... leaving you wondering if he ever hesitated at all!

Deadwater - love the way Dean tries to achieve Lucas confidence and succeeds!!

Nightmare - Dean gets all protective and tells Sam that as long as hes around, nothing bad is gonna happen to him!

In my time of dying - the fear in Sam?s eyes when he feels hes loosing Dean...

Children shouldnt play with dead things - loved the fact Sam was watching porn while Dean was away!! Laughed my ass off!

Nightshifter - Taking the swat guys down all alone... he seemed a hero!

Hunted - Liked the perception Sam had when talking to Ava, but basically the whole Sam-centred episode!

Scarecrow - Sam telling Dean that if they are gonna find dad, they are gonna do it together

In my time of dying - The ouija board thing.

Children shouldnt play with dead things - Dean opening his feelings to Sam.

Honorable Mention: All Hell Breaks Loose Part II

I find it funny that although I am a sucker for the relationship between Sam and Dean, four of my favourite episodes are dealing with Sam and Dean being apart (well, or at least not with their real versions). Probably because there is nothing that highlightens their love for each other more than being forced apart.

To add to my Top 5 Dean moments:
AHBL II: Dean's monologue at the bed of his dead brother. This is just beyond words, one of Ackles finest performances!
WIAWSNB: Dean's speech at John's grave. Heartbreaking!

To add to my Top 5 Sam moments:
WIAWSNB: Sam telling Dean that he is glad that they are close, even if it meant painful sacrifices for them both.

To add to my Top 5 Brother moments:
AHBL II: Sam confronting Dean with his suspicion about the deal and trying to hammer it into Dean that he reciprocates his protectiveness!

Okay I have been rewatching many s2 eps these last few days so I feel I should update my lists. My top s2 eps have changed a bit:

I honestly cannot do a ranking because even picking 5 was just so hard. Just goes to show what an awesome season season 2 was!

I have also compiled my top 5 Sam moments although these might change again:

Top 5 Sam moments

- Sam rebelling against John in various episodes in season 1: I couldn't choose an ep, there are too many. I just love that Sam does not simply obey John but has a mind of his own and is not afraid to stick up for his views. I'm not saying that Dean is but I was always a bit disturbed by Dean's blind obediance towards John, I could relate to Sam much better in this respect.

- Bloodlust: Sam's actions, views and behaviour throughout the episode struck a chord with me.

- CSPWDT: Sam burying John's tags at Mary's grave. I just watched that scene and the emotion of it gets me every time.

- Nightshifter: Sam kicking the ass of two SWAT guys, so damn cool!

- Heart: Sam stepping up and assuming responsibility re Madison. I was so proud of him that he did not take the easy way out and let his older brother handle the situation.
