  • "Player Under Pressure" -- reworked for S3

I meant to post this earlier but forgot...

    From Kristin:

The Missing Episode: According to executive producer Stephen Nathan, "Player Under Pressure," the ep that was pulled in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings, will be reworked. The new version preserves the mystery elements and will bring the romantic storyline up to date. He expects it might air Dec. 7, and the old material (wherein Jack proposed to Angela) will hopefully appear on a DVD...sometime somewhere.
So good news, it's no longer going to be a totally out of place episode. Bad news, fans will miss that Jack/Angela proposal.

Thanks for posting--that is good and bad news! I guess they can include the proposal as a but scene perhaps? Why can't they include that scene in the special features of the season 2 DVD though, where it'd make the most sense? And I hope that means we'll get 23 episodes this season, including the one from last season, since we only got a 21 epp season unfairly last time. I don't liek being jipped twice!

I too can't wait until season 3--what do you guys think about them changing the day to Tuesday nights on Fox before House? I'm kind of glad, that sounds like a better slot than at 9 pm on Wed--it'll not be competing with Lost (I think), and it'll have the pre-show tune-in from people watching the popular House which could boost the number of fans watching Bones!

Still, Sept 26 seems sooo far away!

Well, I am hoping to be able to catch up and get the s2 dvds when they come out on Tuesday. But I am getting Supernatural first since I haven't seen that either. SO I don't know how much money I will have. Especially since I have my daughter's first bday coming in month. But I will probably DVR it so that when I can afford to get s2 then I can get in on s3!

I think the Tuesday move is a great idea for Fox. I think it's a good match up with House, both being procedural shows focused heavily on character.

Yes, again, I like this plan much better than the proposed date earlier in the summer!

And you should watch season 2! It's soooo good--like unbelievably so! There's a stretch where literally each epp is better than the last, and it's all just such an improvement from last season for the most part, much stronger with as lot fewer weak spots, especially when it gets into its stride. The writers and actors and such were on a roll this season, getting down the rhythm of the show pat. I can't wait for the DVD, so many great epps...including the amazing "Judas on a Pole" (#10) directed by the guy who plaed Mulder on X-Files....and also "Aliens on a Spaceship," "Girl with a Curl" (which has Beaver, Halfrek, and Mrs. Kane guest-starring, lol!), "The Headless Witch in the Woods," "The Woman in the Sand"....lots of excellent stuff! SO please do watch if you can before season 3 starts--you still have some time! (Last time it began Aug 31!)

Well, I tell you, I was surprised that I enjoyed s1 as much as I did. I had seen parts of a few eps here and there and it didn't do much for me but when I watched it straight through...it was good. I really do like it. And if I can find both SN and Bones for pretty good prices, I will try and pick them both up next Tuesday. I've been keeping my eyes open for what different retailers are offering them for. Best Buy FINALLY put slapped some sale prices on them but I was kind of hoping to find an even better deal. I hope to find one soon! I have no doubt s2 will be good too. Typically, I tend to like first seasons of series less than the others. The second seasons and beyond seem to be when the shows find their niche.

To answer question about the amount of episode for season three, it's not 23. Apparently, FOX ordered 28 episodes.

Also, this episode wasn't aired because of what happened at Virginia Tech? I was reading spoilers from SpoilerFix and I don't really see any similarities...

True, except for Veronica Mars, sadly--which I guess was the indication that the show was doomed right there...

Yeah, I read that elsewhere after I asked the question--good! Should be awesome, that's so cool that they'll have so many epps--I mean, it's unreal they've already ordered so many epps, more even than a usual full season! Hopefully this is a good indication of the show being picked up again next year!

That's because there AREN'T any similarities whatsoever, except that the murder happens to take place at a school in that epp, and VT involved murders taking place at a school--and I think the person was shot in the murder, which obviously is how the people died at VT. But that's it--the actual murder presented was nothing like the VT shootings, it's just the location--so in a show where there's a murder each week, it was just Bones' misfortune that the murder that week had taken place at a school. The whole thing was so stupid though, since the murder didn't really have any similarities to the shooting, it should not have been pulled, or it should have aired last season with a week's delay--it was just Fox being overly cautious. I mean, the nature of these shows is that murders happen each week--that's just how it is, why should the location of any one murder make a difference? The key thign is whether the murder that week resembles the murder that happened in real life--like Earshot being pulled when it involved an implied school shooting--now THAT was just like Colombine, and it was perfectly fien that that was pulled. This epp, on the otherhand, was not similar enough to justify it--the murder was no more upsetting than any of the other murders that happen every week on the show, it was just in the wrong location for that week.

And if that wasn't bad enough, Fox decided to eb their usual a-hole selves and fail to really promote this decision to pull the epp--like you know, LEAVING A FREAKING EXPLANATORY NOTE ON THE OFFICIAL FOX BONES SITE so that those of us who don't read online TV news sites had some clue as to what was going on when we saw a repeat airing instead of the promised new epp! [/rant]

Sorry, but that whole thing, especially the last part, really pissed me off. B/c you're right--there really aren't many similarities at all--it was silly that it was pulled.
