  • Do you like Sylar?

I've been surprised by trawling LJ to notice that a lot of people like Sylar. Personally I despise him and wanted him written out :-/ Or kept captured or something. I know there needs to be villians, but I think he's creepy, uncharismatic and a horrible character. Jessica on the other hand is a great villian. I guess I just don't see the likeable side to Sylar

I almost prefer Sylar to Jessica. Mostly because I don't really get Jessica's superpower: she body steals and then has super-powers... huh? Is she supposed to be good or evil? I mean, not that it's that black or white, but...

The answer is I dont really like Syler at all he really gets on my nerves its just somthing about him that rubs me the wrong way. He's just evil and I dont really like evil people on tv besides Faith. But Syler is just so annoying he lingers. He's like an annoying fly that just wont go away. I really dont like his character so thats why I dont like him.

Sylar is most definitely not a charismatic villain that your heart secretly roots for or finds any real attachment and understanding. However, I think that type persona is kind of interesting because often times in movies/tv, evilness is glamorized. And the creepy bottomfeeder nature goes well with his power of slithering along feeding off of whatever he can find. I do think another villain is

C'mon, he's nowhere as near as lame as Adam. He had a floppy drive!!! The military should have technology more advanced or at least on par with the consumer technology and at that time dvd/zip drives were available to the public. But excellent insult though! hi5!

Actually, I never saw Jessica as a villain. I always just saw her as used and manipulated. Yet, still somewhere within herself what she did was always for her son and Nikki. I wonder if Nikki/Jessica's super power is her strength and agility. I'm always amazed at how strong and powerful she is.

        Lydia made the punch!

I'm loving Sylar. I think Zachary Quinto managed to create a deliciously sexy character and the last episodes of the season gave a lot of interesting hidden pathways to develop the character.

Sylar is captivating by the simple fact he's the carbon copy of Peter, to me. It's almost like his reflect. It's what would have happened to Peter, had he never been so compassionate with everyone. It's a twist that help us to understand both characters.

I can't wait to see season 2 to see more of his character

I like him, but not as a regular. Eventually, I think they're going to have to do two thing, 1.) kill him or 2.) make him good. He's too much of a threat to the Heroes to stay evil/alive. Of course, they could just give him a break and then have him pop up every now and then for an episode or two.

So, I guess I'm on the fence. With the right storyline, that isn't making him good, I'd be happy to see him stay.

In season two, I'd be interested in seeing him going after the "bigger boogieman." Maybe teaming up with the Heroes, but still remaining just as evil and willing to let them die, to stop him (the "bigger boogieman.") aka giving Sylar the chance to eat his brain.

I must be in the minority, I think Sylar is amazing. I can't remember a villain being introduced better on a TV show basically ever, except possibly the Mayor. He was much more compelling than Linderman, to me.

I don't see how it is possible to like Sylar I think the acting is appalling and he is bland.

I never thought about whether I liked Sylar or not. He was just always there, being the bad guy that the 'good guys' had to stop. I tend to automatically not like the bad guys thought so I guess I'm leaning more towards not liking him. I must say though, that the few Sylar-centered episodes has made me understand his actions better in some way and I actually found myself feeling a bit sorry for him, in the episode with his mum. I know feeling sorry isn't the same as liking but it's coming close.....

Eventually, I think they're going to have to do two thing, 1.) kill him or 2.) make him good.
I agree with this, he can't stay in the periphery (sp) and just occasionally kill someone off, if there's a new better villain around. Well, that's my opinion anyway I think it'd be too much.
I would personally love it if he became good-ish. I love that he's almost the same as Peter except for the fact that he's evil and has to kill to get a power
I think he'd definitely be an asset to the "team" whichever team he ends up on.....

Speaking of having to kill... ok, I feel stupid but I really don't know what it is he does. I mean, I know he has to get to their brain to get the power and I know that he says he has a talent for knowing how "things work" but seriously, what? Does he eat their brains or what? HOW exactly does he get their power....? Does he take the part of their brain who controls it and inserts it into his own?

Personally I'm not a fan, there's nothing wrong with his character per say, I just find him really boring. However if enough people like him I can definitely see him becoming one of those grey-side characters, an almost green goblin if you will, either trying to be good and failing, or not bothering to be fully good.

I always got the impression he ate or ingested the brain some other way. It definitely seems to have something to do with the brain but maybe that's just a trademark way to kill them. Ew, anyway I haven't seen the complete first season yet (Australia just aired 5 Years Gone), so maybe I haven't seen the answer yet.

Again a communal Ew for brain eatage discussion.
