  • Favourite Non-Joss show

I was wondering what is this forum's favourite show that wasn't dreamt up by Joss Whedon - i.e. Buffy, Angel and Firefly. All of these shows have been finished for some time now and we've moved onto other ones, so what's your favourite? Any of these a worthy replacement for Buffy or Angel? What is it about these that you enjoy?

Come on lets discuss what makes a good show....

I voted for Bones - it was a toss up between that and Supernatural, but in the end I prefer more ensemble shows than Supernatural offers, and loving the romantic angle of it.

I can't say I have found any new shows that are going to take top spot in my TV charts over Buffy/Angel, so I wouldn't say any are a worthy replacement, but time will tell....

Oooh...its hard to decided between Lost and Supernatural. I love them both...acctually my list could go on to include most of the shows on the list. lol

Lost: Mainly i just loved the idea of the whole concept of it. Plus Matthew Fox is just lush!!! I like all the action, yet the softer side of some of the romances. Plus all the flash backs make for a intersting watch.

Supernatural: Dean....yum, yum yum...lol Plus its semi like Angel and Buffy 2 shows which i love and i miss. Supernatural is brill, kinda scary too.

I also like Bones. The chemestry between Bones and Brennen is just fanstastic.

I voted for Heroes because my current favourite, Prison Break is not on your list. But Heroes comes second to Prison Break for me, so no problem.

I never thought I will even like Prison Break and I was prepared to be disappointed. Now I am so annoyed I will have to wait so long for S3. The concept is brilliant and I do enjoy conspiracies, and I particularly enjoy anticipating Michael's next brilliant plan. I am also at the edge of my seat in fear of who will betray who next. Oh how stressful

I love Heroes because in a strange way, it reminds me of Btvs. It's not the same, but somehow it feels familiar.

I like Bones but it just started its first season here last month but so far so good for all the episodes and characters. Brennan is fun, she reminds me of Anya sometimes. I think you know in what way.

          I voted for Lost.
I don't think any show will ever replace a Jossverse show for me, but I love Lost. The flashbacks are great, and the show is pretty well-written.

I like Bones too, I love the chemestry between Booth and Bones is great.

LOST LOST LOST!!!! I LOVE LOST.

SO that's what I voted for. Some people just don't like the show, I realize but I find it fascinating. When it's on the air I spend tons of time on the Lost forum I frequent and listening to a few different podcasts.

I just watched s1 of Bones and was surprised by how much I liked it!!

I also just watched s1 of Supernatural and was finally getting into it when it was over. SO I totally need to watch s2.

I watch a few other shows on the list, but am not going to go into here.

Humm I had to vote 'Other' I love the Gilmore Girls so much. Ever since I discovered it at the end of season 5 it's been the show I love in any mood I'm in.

I think my second favourite other show is 24 and then Supernatural and One Tree Hill. I love so many shows, but Gilmore Girls is definitely number 1 for me!

Yep it's a complete guilty pleasure, and I love their soundtracks so much. I've discovered so many great albums from that show. Plus Lucas and Nathan are cute eye candy!

Although I haven't seen an episode in a while, now I'm done with GG season 6 it might be time to start that again!

At the moment it has to be Heroes, I'm literally having to gather together all self control I have not to finish the rest of the first season in one sitting, it's a show that never ceases to shock and surprise, the plot is fast paced and just gripping. Excluding Alias I've never seen a show that has so many cliffhangers. I love the mystery of the show and so many of the characters have just won me over - Hiro, Claire, Niki (my favourite).

I'm also a recent One Tree Hill fan as well as The OC and recently Grey's Anatomy. The latter is just thoroughly addictive - I have no idea why, the plot's not exactly ingenious, I suppose it's the characters I'm quite drawn to.

I voted for Supernatural. A year ago or so it would probably have been Veronica Mars but since the third season annoyed and pissed me off so much, I can no longer call VM my favourite non-Joss show. While I was not a huge fan of the first season (especially of the first half of the first season) of Supernatural, the second season was simply fantastic, it gripped me and moved me immensely and turned me into a hardcore fan of the show. There is no other show at the moment that I like to obsess about more than Supernatural and no other character that I adore more than Dean.

Other favourite non-Joss shows include Gilmore Girls, 24, Veronica Mars (at least seasons 1 and 2), Six Feet Under, occaisonally Smallville and my latest addiction Prison Break!

I voted Other, just because I have so many that I would consider favorites at the moment. A lot of them are on that list, so voting for just one felt unfair

But right now, my favorite show is Psych- a comedy about a guy who poses as a psychic, has mad detective skills, and loves pineapples? It's awesome, it is. I'm really loving comedy right now. I've become absolutely obsessed with The Office (US). And Burn Notice is my favorite new show of the moment

From shows in the poll, I love Smallville, Veronica Mars, Heroes, and Charmed. I watch Supernatural when I get a chance. And I've been trying to catch up with season 3 of LOST. And I love Gilmore Girls, but that wasn't on the poll

Don't we have a similar thread on which our favourite shows are, and why?
Oh, well! Always fun! In the poll I voted for Lost, which may have stumbled on some problems in the course of the seasons (but every show does), but that for me remains the most intelligent show ever created..it always amazes me how complicated it is, like a puzzle in which you have to put the pieces together. Not suited to those people who want just an hour of entertainment....but great for those willing to get aboard and enjoy the run!

Together with Lost, my other favourite show is probably Nip/Tuck, even though I'm sorry to say that the last 2 seasons were not that satisfying. I hope they'll do better, even though I'm worried..they seem to be collecting famous guest stars (Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock) instead of concentrating on the storylines....oh, well!

Others favourite of mine are Prison Break (just ended my marathon), Grey's Anatomy and, at the moment, Deadwood (I'm watching the third season), Rome, Friends, Six Feet Under, Desperate Housewives, Smallville when it doesn't suck (which happens very often LOL )

And I'm lost on what we are talking about...if I had to list all my favourite shows, it would take hours! Let's just say there are millions...

I voted for Smallville, though it was a really big toss-up with Supernatural...both are great, but Smallville has had me for longer, so I gave it my allegiance...

But besides SV & SN, I am also a junkie of 24, Grey's Anatomy, and Lost (of shows that are currently playing.

Some past shows include my ALL-TIME fave La Femme Nikita, Alias, Charmed, Felicity, & Dawson's Creek...

In general it'd be Alias and X-files, but in this list it's Smallville and Lost. I've seen a tiny bit of Supernatural and it's great too.

Technically Doctor Who and Battlestar Galactica are tied for my favorite but I just voted DW since it was up there. Also coming in a very very close second is Friday Night Lights.

I have got to say Charmed. I LOVE everything about it.

Yes! Of course, The X-Files. And Alias is good too. Someone mentioned Felicity and another mentioned Battlestar Galactica. I also quite love those two. And what I said in the other kind of similar thread...Sex and the City and Seinfeld as well!! Seinfeld is never-ending hilarity. And Roswell too.

I love tv way too much. Or as Obsessed's user title says: "born with a remote." Love that title!!

Thanks, Jenni! That's what I had forgot..Sex & The City! How could I!
I am also fond of Ally McBeal for its sillyness. And I adore The Nanny, I never get tired of the endless reruns! I'm sure I'm still forgetting something huge. Is it bad that I can't remember my favourite shows, and I need to check lists on sites? Old age is an ugly thing LOL...
