  • Wonderfalls....

    Quote from TV.COM
Set against the backdrop of Niagara Falls, Wonderfalls is a quirky one-hour family dramedy about an underachieving twenty-something souvenir shop worker named Jaye Tyler. Her life is forever changed when inanimate figures ? including toys, cartoons and anything in the form of an animal, begin to talk to her. In each episode, the creatures' cryptic messages set into motion a chain of unpredictable events that invariably lead Jaye into the lives of others in need.

Throughout the series' bizarre situations and madcap adventures, Jaye seeks advice from her best buddy Mahandra and befriends Eric, a local bartender who tries to help answer her unrequited questions. Is the universe conspiring against her? Is this real or just her imagination? Should she struggle with fate or surrender to destiny? Whatever the outcome one thing is for certain - Jaye will discover that the world around her is a magical place and that the seemingly random events in her life are actually all part of something much greater.
Though only a couple episodes aired, you can get the whole season on dvd, (even though its only 13 episodes).

At first the show didn't really get to me, Jaye, who is effected by the 'magic' of niagra falls, is to synical to like at first, but around the 5th episode it starts getting good. The romance heats up and the characters become more endeering.

The male cast is attractive, and despite not quite knowing what Eric sees in Jaye, you still route for them to get together. And I'm sure I'll become a strange shipper.

But the show seems to be a bit all over the place, and I don't know if I quite believe the characters, and the story line is kind of crazy. Jaye keeps getting the chance to redeem herself but she never seems to get that better picture...

I'll come back as I finish the series, and hope that its as good as the last three episodes when i get to the finale.

I'm not one of them. Change has a way of just walking up and punching me in the face.

You misnamed the thread. It's WONDERFALLS.

It's a good show and I have actually been meaning to give it a rewatch soon. It's zany yet heartfelt, funny yet poignant. Jaye is abrasive but endearing nevertheless. I like show but FOX never gives anything a chance.

I just recently watched this series on DVD. I really enjoyed it though Jaye Tyler is one of the hardest leading characters to like. Sure, she does do good, but she does so very begrudgingly, whining and complaining all the while. But somehow, she is SO unlikeable, she's "likable". This short-lived Tim Minear series is definitely worth a watch.

I keep doing that. (when I tried to look up the synopsis, I kept getting Oasis lyrics instead)

Now that you mention it I can see that Tim Minear had his influence in this show.

I just finished the last episode, and the thing is it felt like the last one. Which is nice because a lot of short lived series don't get to have that. So my over all opinon is it's fun to watch and I enjoyed it, but its nothing like Buffy or Angel that I will miss it when I'm done watching it.

I was thinking, if they had gone on to a second season I would have liked to see if they would have played around with why Jaye was the way she was, or maybe that is just the intention of the character. At one point in the series I think that Eric even asks, "why are you the way you are?" and they get interupted.. hmm

I like Jaye BECAUSE she is that way lol. I warmed to her immediately. Although my favorite character is Aaron, her brother.

I read something where the writers said if the show had gone on she'd have a stay in a mental institution in the beginning of season 3.
