  • Season 2 DVD info--Player Under Pressure not included!

Yay, they've finally released the cover art for the Bones season 2 DVD--and it looks great! (Much better than the first one!) I was so hoping they'd use the gurney pic, and they did! Very sexy....and Booth's funky sox are visible!

It doesn't come out until 9/11 though...argh, by then "Player Under Pressure" BETTER be on it!

Season 2 DVD info--Player Under Pressure not included!

Here's the article saying what's on the DVD, what the format will be, and more importantly what's not--aka the pulled epp PLAYER UNDER PRESSURE!

DVD Calendar - Metacritic Feature Articles on Video Games, Movies, Music, and TV

Now warning, a rant will follow:

God does that piss me off SO much--I mean, HODGINS FREAKING PROPOSES IN 2.19, IT CAN'T BE PASSED OFF AS PART OF SEASON 3!!!!!! It's ridiculous for them to do that--it's not going to air as part of season 3, it's going to air as a season 2 epp waay too late! Great, now season 2 won't be complete--they better charge less money for it! I notice they're going with a more traditional DVD format as well, unlike with season 1 (though usually there's one disc with 3, instead of one with 2--or 1 in this case, thanks to the dum.basses at Fox)....

Honestly, I recently watched V for Vendetta and found otu it's release was delayed a year b/c it was to be released after the London train bombing, when a big scene features an Underground train being used to blow up Parliament. Now that's well and good and understandable--but would you delay a film for a year b/c it includes a guy being stabbed on a London Underground train? B/c that's pretty much what happened with PUP....stupid Fox....

I mean gee, if they're so concerned, why are they releasing the DVD on September 11? Maybe they should wait until October, to be sensitive....

If it's not going to have PUP on it, I wish they'd release it earlier....can't wait all the same!
Promise that you'll return to me.

So it wasn't just me missing an episode? (I knew it! ) They actually did not air the episode where Hodgins proposes? *jawdrops* What kind of reasoning was that?!!!

I watch Bones for Angela and Hodgins separately and have at least enjoyed their romance. So I was waiting on the dvd release to catch the few episodes I unfortunately missed this year due to real life conflicts. Now knowing that I won't get to see what I'm sure was beautifully awkward, sweet, and hilarious and probably one of the more unique moments of the season. Unbelievable.

Fox just has some of the oddest programming decisions. Do you know when this episode will be aired?

I could have sworn I saw the episode where he proposes. I guess not though. So why wasn't aired? And it's not going to be on the box set either?

Ain't that the truth!! I was flipping through the other night and noticed they were playing new episodes of The Loop (I don't watch it) but they were airing them out of order.

They did that with Firefly I know too. And a few other shows, if I am not mistaken.

Not to mention how they cancel everything that doesn't get huge ratings in like its first two weeks. wtf?! Give a show a chance! *coughFireflycough* *coughWonderfallscough* *coughTheLoneGunmencough* *coughDrivecough* I could cough a long ass time.

lol! A lot of times it is hard to know if they aired shows out of order because they cancel them so quickly! I know Sliders was aired out of order but that was 10 years ago. I usually cough at all the shows they canceled that I loved. They give the show a full season of excellent episodes (or eps with a lot of promise) and then bam! canceled. I was so shocked when Tru Calling was renewed for a second season. And then just baffled when it was canceled after filming 6 episodes but before any of those aired. (?!!!)

But Bones has been a show Fox has put a lot of effort behind. Bones gets a lot of notable mentions and/or articles in Entertainment Weekly and TVGuide Magazine as well as other blips elsewhere. So obviously Fox has put a lot of money in getting the show out there and there is some type of fanbase. Why pull silly things like not showing an important arc episode that builds up to most of the events of the finale?

Fox has like 4 scripted shows that return next year 24, Prison Break, House, and Bones. Four shows out of 13 hours of programming! And they pull this with one of them. Fox has truly never cared much about a show and its creative process. It has always been bottom line ratings or critical praise. If they don't have a hit immediately with either they cancel it.

Tru Calling! Yes. I forgot. It is odd how they cancelled it before they aired those last six eps. It's like "oops, nevermind. We put all this money into production but screw it!" *scratches head*

I'm not an avid Bones watcher myself (I've seen a few eps)--there's too many damn poilce/crime/law procedurals on the air already--but you can tell it is a success for the network because I have noticed all the press it gets.

I can understand pulling an episode because of a recent news event--much like Buffy with "Earshot"--but to not include it where it belongs is plain silly. They could still re-air it during season three, but at least include it in the s2 set where it belongs, if only for the fans, the CONSUMER's, sake. Fox is stupid.

                AMEN!
It's actually the only one I watch. Well I do watch the original L&O whenever I'm with my dad as its his show though I never watch that on my own. And I guess Medium falls under that category, but I watch it only because it is supernatural related.

I find Bones enjoyable since it has the anthropolical and culture angle. It doesn't try to glorify violence but really ramps up the human angle of all stories. Angela really is the most empathic character and you get attached while watching her get tied up in trying to find a voice for these victims who had their identity stripped from them. My other fave part of the show is all the squints and how mismatched each of them are and their interrelations with each other and outsider Booth. I'm not a big Bones/Booth fan.

I can understand pulling an episode because of a recent news event--much like Buffy with "Earshot"--but to not include it where it belongs is plain silly.
Yeah, that was my first reaction when I heard the episode was pulled. There was the Virginia Tech shooting. But even Medium who the episode previous had a character shoot up a main characters place of work showed their followup episodes. (??) And Bones doesn't show the crime, its just about finding the bones and figuring out the identity of the person and then the killer.

They could still re-air it during season three, but at least include it in the s2 set where it belongs, if only for the fans, the CONSUMER's, sake. Fox is stupid.
That is baffling that it isn't on the dvd set being advertised as "BONUS EPISODE". Lol, that's what they did with Tru Calling's S2 where they specifically just didn't show the last one for that selling point reason. Can't believe Fox is passing up this marketing chance.

I love L&O!!! It's so good. I have several seasons on DVD and I usually watch at least an episode a day on tv. I Jerry Orbach. Anyway, it's one of the first things I watched and it's nice to be able to watch one episode and see the whole stry wrapped up. But my god! There's all those CSIs, Numb3rs, Bones, Boston Legal, Shark, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc. It's half the network shows, these procedurals!!!!

That's a good point though. The actual violence isn't shown so what's the big deal.

Poor Hodgins actually proposes twice, not to mention his shrimp "Will you be my love" proposal, and you get to see the second one, but not the first, and it's so annoying....you only know about the first proposal in 2.19 because Hodgins freaking tells Booth about it in 2.20!

It wasn't aired b/c the murder that week *happened* to take place at a college--of all the weekly murders, it just so happened that the murder took place in a college rather than in a river or whatever. If it had been scheduled to air the week before, we would have had a full season, no problems. Yes, maybe I could understand it being pulled that week (and of course they can't show it the next week--b/c we must have 4 hours of AI! ), but not showing it until next year, and even worse not includingit on the DVD?! The murder has nothing to do with a serial shooting, just a run-of-the mill murder with only the type of location (a college) in common--it'd be like pulling Spit and Eggs if it were to air that week b/c Dean O'Dell gets killed at the end of the epp (with a bullet in his head!)! It's just so outrageous and ridiculous....and Fox was also really terrible about publicizing the page, they didn't have ANYTHING on their main page saying what was happening and why--I had to go to the boards to figure out what the hell was going on when I saw a rerun instead of an original epp (at least it was a season 2 one)!

Of course it's not the first time Fox has shown it doesn't care much for Bones--Bones gets pushed back by American Idiot all the time, sometimes with no warning (the first epp after winter hiatus was advertised for weeks as coming back on a certain date, Jan 24, only for a few days before then it to say on the Fox website that it wasn't airing until Jan 30--b/c AI had to air! And of course they would never push back AI though...not their golden idol they worship.... They really are bad at marketing their shows though--did you see that the plan right now is for Bones to air at 9 pm Wed he fall, then to air on FRIDAY NIGHT after AI comes on?! Apparently this is the third year in a row Fox has threatened to do this, and nothing's happened yet, so I hope it's the same this year (some of their new shows are bound to fail), but it does send a signal about their regard for Bones....

I'm just so angry at Fox right now....

But Bones isn't your average procedural show....as reviews say, it's CSI with chemistry! Seriously though, it may technically be a procedural, but it's more of a dramedy or comedy than a drama, in spite of the focus on death, and though the mysteries aren't bad I only watch it for the characters and character drama anyway, especially Brooth!

Speaking of which, Lyn, how on earth can you not be a B/B fan? I think they have to be the most uncontroversial ship ever, they're so amazing....

I know. I have watched it. And enjoyed it at that. I saw the s1 DVD for like $20 and almost bought it. But I watch so much stuff. I think it might be something I watch down the road.

It's definitely more dramedy for sure. If there's one thing DB is pretty good at it's that funny serious type. I do love the kind of character he plays in this though. Real cocky. It works.

OH! I wondered why a rerun was on that week. I was so sure it was new, set my vcr, and when I rewound it that evening I saw it was old. That is so retarded. No offense to those involved with the shooting, but imo, showing a rerun instead of a new episode is not showing any more honor or respect to the tragedy. And what's the point of holding an episode back if they were fearful of ratings. Never showing it means no ratings at all! :

Fox could launch a new hit show every night if they were savvy about showing American Idol in one time slot a night and pairing it with a scripted show. But no, they create absurdly inflated numbers with House and talk about it being a hit. When if they were to put it in a competitive slot without the aid of AI it would bomb.

Don't worry Fox slaughters shows left and right so there will be openings come AI time. However, the Terminator based Sarah Connor Chronicles is supposed to be midseason and I'm hoping that will be a good show and a hit. That may very well steal Bones place. As I said, House can't survive moving and Fox needs it to remain a high rated show so I don't see that moving. And 24 and Prison Break have been fixtures on Mondays for so long. Fox really needs to spread it's seasons out into the early fall to get a few months before baseball rather than have everything come after the new year.

I guess I resist anything that is inevitably going to happen. I know they really like each other and care about each other and are just working through their personality differences until they meet on the same level. I feel a lot of love, but sparks of attraction, no. They feel like the married parents with all the squints being their kids. It's a great big happy family! lol, Cam messed with that this year, and I didn't really enjoy her very much. I need to rewatch the season as I didn't see every episode or all of the episodes I did see just to give her a fair shot.

lol, my favorite Bones/Booth moments are when Bones wants a gun or to get into the action and Booth wisely has to rein her in and remind her the danger is deadly. They obviously belong so much together that I sometimes want to smack some sense into them!

I absolutely agree it's not like other procedural shows. There's more emphasis on people and preciousness of humanity rather than on the voyeuristic desire of seeing the darker side of nature. It's positive nature is what makes watching it each week not be draining and despairing in what our world has come to.

Fox really doesn't take advantage of the late summer. I remember what a hugh hit the OC was in its first season because they began its run during summer before new fall programming began. You'd think they would try that again in the fours years since but whatever.

Oh! And I just bought Bones s1 today!! Target had it for $17.99 and I couldn't resist.....now...when will I watch it? No idea! I'm still only half way through Supernatural and I stating watching that in January. (It just hasn't grabbed me the way it seems to have gotten every one else. I am hoping the mythological arc will help out with that. /off-topic)

Oooh I absolutely agree! If they would have some shows return in August and premiere a few new ones, they would have 8 solid weeks before baseball preemptions. That's comparable to how other networks start in mid to late September and go until breaking until about Thanksgiving through New Years. Since it is early fall, the shows won't have the stigmata of being summer filler programming. Fox could get everyone hooked on their shows before the other channels even had a chance. Yet another reason why we should be studio execs!

lol! that's the deal I got on Bones! That's great the sale was still going! I was majorly impressed as it is well worth that price. I've have not had a chance to rewatch it, but the first time through the episodes that made the love the show and really care about the characters are on the last two discs.

(And I think I one of the very few people around here that adored the beginning of SN. Almost everyone complained until the mytharc kicked in at 1x11.)

Well last season Bones began August 30, which was good...I wouldn't want it to start much earlier than that or I wouldn't be able to see it! (Since I'll be on vacation in August...as are many others--so not good for ratings!).

Wow, maybe I should have waited until now to buy my season 1 of Bones...*thinks about how much I've watched it already, and says "nah*

But that is the deal I got on season 1 of VM...and it came while I was still watching it! What a windfall!

Jenni maybe you should alternate with Supernatural....have some more normal mysteries to solve!

Yeah, you may be right...I've still only seen the first SN epp (on YT, but still...), and I haven't exactly been desperate to see more thus far...though I have a SN-loving friend who is interested in Bones, maybe she coudl show me more SN and I could show her more Bones!
