I've been having a root through youtube for old Who stuff, and came across this clip from the Tom Baker days...of Romana regenerating. Seems timelords can take a few tries at it, sampling different bodies...

So, RTD has tweaked the method - cos there's nothing to suggest that CE had a choice to turn into anything but DT.

Or is it just that time ladies can try on outfits because that's what girls do??

I actually read a bit on this the other day.

Romana is so far the only timelord (lady?) to be shown to be able to do this so it's a little unclear as to whether it's a unique trait of something the others can do as well.

Personally i can see the doc as being the kind of guy that will take pot luck on his appearance just to see what he gets.

Unless he really tries for the ginger next time.

p.s Tom B is my favourite old skool doc. The jelly babies make it.

I actually read a bit on this the other day.

It's an interesting thought, that all the Time Lords have slightly different powers, just like people have their unique quirks and talents (eg the timelord equivalent of being able to roll your tongue is being able to choose your shape).

Yeah - he does seem to come from the Spike school of foreward planning. I like the idea that he could choose but prefers it to be a surprise.

I actually have but one request when it comes time for a change in the far flung future. May the next assistant not come from london pleeeease.

We need a regional assistant, after al we've had a regional doctor.

anyway returning to the subject of classic who. who would you want in a modern 5 doctors if you could choose from any of them.

I can't remember what accent McGann used...but he is a scouser, so if he used his normal voice, that's two regional docs!

Everyone from baker onwards is still with us. I would avtually have to go with the same choices because including baker theres only 4 docs before you get to ecclestone and i can't go for colin baker (who by the way is the only doctor to be ashamed of. That costume *shudder*)

If he was still with us though i would happily replace mcgann with troughton. He was a great doc.
