Well the new season has finall begun!

I definitely enjoyed it--not bad for the start of the season, it wasn't the best epp ever, but definitely above average, and better than those awful Georgina episodes at the end of last season--it shows promise. It's nice that Dan and Serena are back together (in record time!), and I loved the Jenny and Eric part, but I'm a little depressed about the Chuck/Blair part. I wanted to strangle Chuck when he couldn't tell Blair that he loved her--dammit, you know you do!!! Chuck messes up again.....they better get together at some point! At least there was some hope this epp, with them both so clearly not over each other yet, though James's new revelation is worrisome. He seems like such a nice guy (and the British accent is sexy!), but....I want her with Chuck! I don't want to want her with James....ack!

So a good start to the new season overall, though the B/C irked me, Nate's affair seems a little lame, and I think the real CeeCee was abducted by aliens--the one tonight seemed pretty OOC! Though that part was still cute all the same....
Promise that you'll return to me.

I was surprised how fast the episode went! Before I knew it there was only 10 minutes left. It was a good ep. I, like you Doppel, was pissed that Chuck just couldn't say he loved her. It broke my heart just watching her get all teary eyed when he didn't say it and then having to put on a smile to hop into James' car. I'm not liking the whole James being a lord nonsense. For some reason that's screams THE PRINCE AND ME!!!!! Anyone else seen that movie?! As soon as he said it I just rolled my eyes. He better turn out to be an awesome character or I'm gonna be highly irritated by wasting what could be Chair time. I also still think Nate and Serena would be a good couple so having that be just a cover for Nate made me sad. Anyhoo, we'll see what happens next week.

Well I got pissed off at Chuck messing up again as well but then I got to thinking that they can't just have them be together as a happy couple from the first ep of the season. Apparently, Josh Schwartz & co. are determined to draw out the pre-dating Chuck/Blair for as long as they can and I can't say I blame them. The constant bickering and banter between those two is a joy to watch! Of course I want them to become a couple sooner or later as well but I thought it was rather typical and in character for Chuck not to be able to say I love you to Blair. Chuck will have to grow a bit more, become more mature and get over his fear of being vulnerable with Blair. I'm guessing it's not gonna be an easy process for him but I'm sure in the end those two crazy kids will make it.

So a good start to the new season overall, though the B/C irked me, Nate's affair seems a little lame
I actually thought it was the complete opposite of lame. For the first time ever, I thought Nate was attractive and sexy and I think he and M?dchen Amick have great chemistry together. Their affair is deliciously naughty and that's always something I enjoy. At first, I thought it was just a little summer fling for Nate, just sex, but the way he was moping at the party, it seems that he really cares for Catherine. I can't wait to see what happens next.

What else? Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the Jenny/Eric bits, which surprised me because I didn't use to care for either character very much. I'm glad that Jenny is over her bitchy phase, it did not suit her and unlike with Blair it did not make me like her very much.

And can I just say how gorgeous the Hamptons looked to me? I wouldn't mind spending my summer there at all.

So all in all, I thought this was a good and very enjoyable start to the new season, which made me glad the show is back!

I agree with both of you actually. I swear, the whole teenage boy has an affair with a teacher/mother of friend/married woman has been done to death and I have seen it happen on almost every teen soap! So yeah, that is lame. But Cori has a point because the chemistry was definitely there. I felt the heat.

Agreed. Don't have much more to add then that.

Yeah. I definitely prefer that pairing to that Serena/Dan. Boring! Then again, it's mostly just Dan that bores me.

Um..yeah! That shot in the garden when Blair chases Chuck from the brunch table....exquisite! Gorgeous. So green and blissful. The most beautiful shot in the episode!

OMG i loved this episode, Some of the good Quality dialouge that I loved from GG S1. Plus I think that they should let Nate and Serena be a couple because they are so good together. I loved Serena's Gram new Attitude. Didnt like James all that much though

For some reason the whole James being a Lord sounds like a lie haha I don't know I guess it was just the way he brought it up haha.

I'm so happy Dan/Serena are back together! It's cute how Penn/Blake are really a couple in RL

The Chuck/Blair thing upset me a bit. For some reason though I think they'll get back together at a later time...

So I watched this last night and yeah good solid start to the season. I like the way they killed all the ships off at the end of last season as a kinda mislead, and they're not all over after all.

              So some general views:-

Chair (sounds so much nicer than Bluck!)
Am I the only one that's a bit fed up with lovesick Chuck? I loved his nasty womanising ways, being mean to Blair and everyone else, now he just doesn't seem to have as much spice - he's got a bit boring. Hmm I'm gonna hold my judgement on how I want this ship to pan out. I loved Blair in this ep. Not sure about James like the rest of you. Last season it was obvious that the girls are used to being around royalty (a prince was going to take Blair to the cotillion at one point and it didn't seem a big deal) so it seems a bit odd that she would go all googly eyed and stammery when he said he was a lord (lord compared to a prince is a nobody after all)

              Darena
Well, it was kinda obvious that this is the ship that would weather some serious storms, so to split up over the summer and them both be pining after each other was always going to happen I suppose. I'm pleased that they're back together, because apart Dan wouldn't have much reason to be the "fish out of water/stranger to this world" character that is the bridge between us the TV audience and the rarified world of the rich, priveledged kids and it would lose it's appeal to me. Fantasy is OK if you have a way to ground it, and Dan and Rufus do that, without Dan having to be in that world because of Serena I don't see a place for them. However... Dan! What were you up to all summer? Making out with loads of girls and not doing your homework - bad, bad, naughty boy!

              Natherine
Catherine is some bimbo who's married and doesn't even seem to be very intereseting, and Nate seems to have forgotten all about trying to get out and relate to the real world that he was doing with Vanessa last year. I loved the comparison between Jenny desperate to be in, and Nate's desperate to be out, so it's a real shame that they seemed to have changed Nate to someone who just accepts what's around him rather than trying to be his own person. Disappointing.

              Jenny and Eric
Interesting.... last year she was all about trying to social climb any which way she could and now she seems to have really learnt from it and is using her contacts wisely. I would like to see Jenny and Eric have more screentime together. They seem like they could be really good friends, and what else does an aspiring fashion designer need other than a gay friend? I hope Eric gets a few more stories this year - he was so sidelined last year, and he seems like he could be more than just Serena's little brother who happens to be gay.

              CeeCee
Uhm? What? A woman like that doesn't just change her opinion of the past 70 odd years in just a few months? I like this person, but it's not the schemeing backstabbing grandmother she was in S1. Be strange to see how she'll fit into this season. Did anyone else notice that she's actually William Pratt's mother, so maybe that would explain it? Actually, I'm worried that Lily was missing entirely. I hope that's not because the actress has moved onto something else and they've drafted CeeCee in to replace her - it would explain the need to change the grandmother's attitude.

Also notably absent was Vanessa. I liked her, I hope she is still around this season.

ROFL, yes I have! And I thought of it as well....though I also thought of that epp of Veronica Mars in season 1 where VM investigates the boyfriend and it turns out he was hiding his wealth to be loved for whom he was, etc.

Nah, it just makes me want to give him a hug! His watching Blair making out with Nate in TTLBCAN mournfully is one of my favorite scenes of the show, and I think it adds character--though it's weird when he's so lovesick, but can't even admit love!

I do hate his new hair though--it's disgusting!

Lol great quote--and so true! And I agree about CeeCee, that was absurd.....and I hope Lily returns as well, she's one of my fave characters! (Not to mention L/R is my second favorite ship!)
Promise that you'll return to me.
