  • Season 8 - Spoilers, Speculations and Yummy Green Leather!

So season 8 is what... a month or so away? And we got alot going on for season 8. We are losing Lex, Lana and Kara, but we are gaining Ollie. A slew of new villians are poping up and so much more!

So far we got this as the first episode info "Green Arrow calls upon fellow heroes Black Canary, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter to locate the missing Clark Kent, last seen in the Arctic."

Sounds interesting, glad to see Black Canary return. I hope with Ollie as a regular we'll get more of her. Seeing as the two have a great relationship in the comics - it'll be funny to see her and Los

I also have a bit of a wishlist. I really want Kara to appear in 10+ episodes. She is such an interesting character and was so jacked in season 7. We need just a really solid Kara episode! Also a Kara/Martha scene... yes, it would be perfect and you all know it!

I also hope that when Lana does pop up, its limited... very limited...

Aha! So that's how the season is going to begin. I was wondering if Clark was just going to escape by his own superpowers which would have been boring. Though the idea of it beginning on Ollie having to plot a rescue plan to save everyone has me marking my calendar and x'ing off the days!

I'm extremely excited for the new characters/villians. I heard rumors that Sam Witwer from Battlestar Galactica was going to join as someone so I'm particularly interested in seeing this if its true.

    Lydia made the punch!

My post is LITERALLY full of spoilers so don't read it if you don't wanna know certain things. I don't think that anything I say is major or life-changing or EXTREMELY spoilery but you never know.

Speaking of the Return of the Lana, the new showrunners have done interviews with the press and, when asked about Lana, said that she'll come back for a 5 episode arc and she'll show up at a very inopportune moment for Clark. One of them even went so far as to say that when Lana comes back, it's one of the most awesome moments in "Smallville" history. So now even I'M out of guesses as to how she shows up if it's one of the most awesome moments in SV history. Seriously. Does she come back as a badass bitch? Does she come back and walk in on Clark and Lois making with the babymaking? DOES SHE COME BACK AS LEX?!?! In any case, I'm very intrigued. Oh, and some reports say that she's coming back for November sweeps so, if that's true, then it MUST be a huge storyline. In any case, I'm pumped.

Also, they said that they have an idea on how to bring Martha back and have a story for her but Annette O'Toole is on Broadway so they'll just have to find a way to fit her into their schedule because both parties want Martha back on the show for some period of time.

And, as for Kara and Lex, the showrunners said that they believe Kara's story was pretty much wrapped up in season 7 since season 8 will be moving away from the Kryptonian history aspects - and that's why Kara was brought in in the first place. They said that they want to get her back for at least one episode. The same goes for Lex. They said that we have not seen the last of Lex but they're not sure if Michael Rosenbaum would be willing to come back or not. I guess we just have to wait and see if MR's career picks up (which, unfortunately, it probably won't...).

Oh, and one of the spoilers I'm really pumped about? In the season premier, there will be a scene with Clark, Lois, and...a phonebooth. AHHH!

He most certainly is! I don't know if I've ever seen Sam Witwer in an episode of BSG (I've yet to see every episode) and, if I did see him, I don't remember him. But I've read multiple times that he's an outstanding actor so THAT has me psyched.

By the way, he's going to be playing Davis Bloome - aka, the soon-to-be Doomsday. He'll be a series regular. He'll also be a love interest for Chloe, which puts her in an awkward love triangle (of course!) with Jimmy and Davis Bloome.

There are a ton of other spoilers out there but most of them I can't remember right now. OH! Except that, in 8.01, Clark will be sporting a beard and will be working on a boat of some sort up near the Arctic. I think how he escaped the fortress and what happened to Lex will be an ongoing mystery - at least for the first episode.

And, lastly, episode titles for the first four of the season?

      8.01 "Odyssey"
-The Justice League rescues Clark; Chloe gets out of jail...somehow...? And gives Jimmy her answer to his proposal; Lois gets a surprise from Clark (HIS WANKADOODLE?! Oh...nevermind, that was just my dream last night...).

      8.02 "Plastique"
-Clark's first day at the Daily Planet; Chloe bonds with a young girl who has explosive powers.

      8.03 "Toxic"
-Ollie is poisoned at a charity benefit while Clark and Chloe are there.

      8.04 "Instinct"
-Clark can't resist a seductress who is being cast as "Melissa" but is reportedly the DC Comics character Maxima.

Ok, now I have a question. Spoilers for 8.04 say that Jimmy and Clark both learn about some letter that Chloe wrote to Clark WAYYYY back in episode 2.16 "Fever" - the one where Clark and Martha are literally on death's door when they get some Kryptonian disease and Emmanuelle Vaugier's wonderful, but short-lived, character discovers that Clark's blood is very, very different. Does anybody remember what was said in that letter and have any ideas as to why it would be significant?

        Chloe's Letter:
I want to let you in on a secret. I'm not who you think I am. In fact, my disguise is so thin I'm surprised you haven't seen right through me. I'm the girl of your dreams masquerading as your best friend. Sometimes I want to rip off the facade like I did at the spring formal. But I can't because you'll get scared and you'll run away again. So I decided that it's better to live with the lie than expose my true feelings. My dad said there are two types of girls -- the ones you grow out of and the ones you grow into. I really hope I'm the latter. I may not be the one you love today, but I'll let you go for now, hoping one day you'll fly back to me. Because I think you're worth the wait.
She's surprised Clark hasn't seen through her "disguise?" Has she not met him? He's Captain Oblivious!

            Woooooooooo!

We are finally going to get to the Lois and Clark working together/getting together storyline.

I'm sorry to hear we are losing Lex but glad we are losing Lana. As much as I rooted for her and Clark to begin with I much prefer Lois and her sassyness. I think the dynamic between her and Clark is going to be really fun and after all of the sadness with Lana it will be alot more fun to watch.

I think with Lex as sad as I am he is going they had exhausted him as a vilain. It should be really fun to see what they do with the new vilains.

I wonder what the big Lana 5 episode arc will be? I can't wait now and we are still on season 7 over here.

              Episode #8-9: "Legion"

Oh great v.v Thats all Smallville needs is the freaks from the future. For those who do not know, The Legion of Super Heroes is the future Justice League (in a sense). The comics are kinda cruddy and I really don't understand the appeal.

It will be interesting to seem them try to fit it into the story, but the character are not as intersting as The Justice League.

Reply is EONS late. But I can't believe you forgot that letter either! The scene of her reading it and running out of the room is forever burned in my brain.

Anyway. I'm curious as to how they find out about it. Because I'm still ridiculously holding out hope for my wishes to come true, and I wonder about these things. Does she tell them (inadvertently or not), or do they find it buried in random papers somewhere. Does it somehow relate to Lana (even if she doesn't actually appear), since she's actually read the letter...

Or are they being cruel to me by building up my hopes over something that will turn out to be so tiny and insignificant, once again.

I'm very sad about Lex going. I'm not sure I can quite bear to watch without him...but I do enjoy Ollie, so perhaps?

Maybe Lana come back as the Black Canary? Or dressed as Wonder Woman, a la thingie (Rachel Bislon) in the OC.

I have no clue who these people really are, honestly, but in the interviews with the new showrunners, they are saying that the Legion's appearence will be a huge step towards Clark becoming Superman because the Legion idolizes Superman in the future. They became superheroes because of him. And if Clark knows that he's going to become Superman and that people, like the Legion, will look up to him and follow in suit, then he'll embrace his destiny even more.

Personally, I think it could be really awesome and crucial to the story development of this season.

Well, seasons 1-3 are kinda...gone from my mind recently. I haven't watched those seasons in FOREVER. But I, too, am curious as to how they both find out about it. Maybe Chloe is wounded and Clark and Jimmy scour her apartment for a clue and stumble upon the letter? That's a very "Smallville"-esque situation that I can see happening.

APPARENTLY, Kristin Kreuk has chopped her hair off so that it's like...really, really short (all for the movie she's currently filming). So that's one big thing about her arrival - it won't be the same Lana. This'll be an all grow'd up Lana. But I'm still at a loss as to how she shows up at an inopportune moment for Clark and how it'll be one of the most awesome moments in SV history...

08/13 - Someone is abducting young couples (including Chloe and Jimmy), and Lois and Clark pose as a couple themselves to investigate. Clark and Lois will be "forced" to make like lovebirds as they investigate some strange goings-on involving a crazy guy and a Moment of Truth-esque lie detector "game." In the course of this, Lois and Clark find themselves engaged in a smooch. Lois proves herself to be a supporter of a Chloe & Clark pairing.
This tickles me way too much! I love that Lois is a huge Chlark fan! I wonder if she makes icons and wallpapers from photos she takes of them

I find many things wrong with that first statement.

BUT OMG YES at the spoiler part. When I saw that at Kryptonsite, I pretty much flailed, died and came back to haunt your asses. (Of course, Lois shipping them almost as much as I do makes Lois/Clark even more wrong to me )

I also hate that spoiler. Because they are TOYING with me. They're giving me hope that I will finally get my vindication, and then they're just going to take my Chlark away from me. Just you watch.

I love Lois, she's one of my favorite characters. But I know who my REAL Intrepid Reporter is, and Clark/Chloe will always mean more to me than Lois/Clark in any incarnation

Holy crab-bats I fail at all things!!! Totally meant Lois instead of Lana *facedesk* I blame my fail on watching smallville as I wrote that and Lana destroying the screen with her presence!

They totally need to not go the Lois/Clark route because now it will just feel weird that Lois wants her COUSIN to date Clark... and then go and have the secks with him... though I guess some mints may enjoy that. *shrugs*

They really are just toying with us, and I find it VERY VERY annoying! LIKE SERIOUS WHOA! Just either give it to us or don't! ...but plz do kthx... Stop cockteasing us and make up your minds! Kill Jimmy and Lois if you have to, just give us some SERIOUS Chlark!!

Though I too love me some Lois and would hate for her death....almost as much as Chloes... but not AS much because Chloe is the reason I even still bother with the show, totally not gonna lie.

I'm all for Lois/Clark but in my heart of hearts I am a HUGE ENORMOUS Chlark shipper

I like Clois purely for the comic relief, I think they are hilarious together. In an awkward kind of way. Anyway, not the time to get into that now

I'm scared for the spoiler because, like you I am scared that it wont lead to anything or maybe it will a little bit, but then they'll decide their friendship is more important (but will both be torn because they do have feelings etc)... oh we've been there already... 7 years ago

I hope that the fact that Lois and Clark are 'forced' together, only means that they are undercover or something. I HOPE it will lead to lots of lulz and awkwardness between them because I love that

Oooh maybe Clark is all "oh hai Lois wanna have my vircoo?" and Lois will be all "dude noway,my cousin's been waiting for 7 years it's her turn now"

These spoilers were posted at Smallville PH after the Comic Con sometime around July 30. Some we've heard, some are new, so I'll just post the whole comments (there are video and audio interviews you can watch/listen to here - the links will not work in the quote)

Exec producer Brian Peterson says that the show will hold to its original "no tights" rule, but he would not comment on the "no flights" restriction.

Newsrama on Legion of Super-Heroes coming to Smallville

Geoff Johns, writer of next month's Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds mini-series for DC Comics, will also be writing the Legion's introduction to the Smallville television show. As announced Sunday at San Diego Comic-Con, Johns will be writing "Legion," the ninth episode in this year's season 8 of Smallville.

"I've known the Smallville writing team ? Todd [Slavkin], Darren [Swimmer], Brian [Wayne Peterson] and Kelly [Souders] ? for a long time," Johns told Newsarama. "I had an idea for an episode, so we all had lunch. And I pitched them the idea of bringing the Legion of Super-Heroes to Smallville. And we're off and running."

In comics, the Legion of Super-Heroes is a group of super-powered teenagers from 1,000 years in the future who are inspired by the legend of Superman. The Legion story, which saw the young heroes time-traveling back to visit a young Clark Kent, recently inspired a Warner Bros. animated TV series.

                              General Q&A Session

                              Highlights of Audio Interviews:

-Chloe will be back at the DP to visit, however her direction is changing. Her main focus will become Isis and running it. She will find that her passion is for helping the meteor affected of society, and will devote herself to that and become a mentor of sorts. She mentions taking in the Plastique character and other people will need her help. Chloe will be primarily busy with Jimmy, Davis and Isis.
-Chloe will attempt to "cut the apron strings with Clark". She will take a step back from Clark, and helping him, being his shadow.

-In regards to Clark, CF says Tess wants to know "Who he is and what goes on with him." Tess will know Clark was close to Lex, and she desperately wants to find Lex, and tries to get Clark to help her find Lex.
-SW was asked about his appearance later in the season, if they might add prosphetics, and he makes it sound like it's possible DB's physical appearance could be changed. He just reiterates that the character will come to resemble the Doomsday from the comics more.
-Davis Bloome (Doomsday) meets all the characters at once, and he and Clark will have a "unique, buddy-buddy friendship", but sounds vague and like there will be a lot of twists with it, basically saying he can't say much.
-The two villains so far aren't planned to work together.

-Tess will be a formidable opponent for everyone on the cast at some point.
-The new showrunners wanted to reinvigorate the show in all aspects - characters, relationships, dynamics, and bring more of the iconic into it.
-There will be one episode where they will address/touch on the "sexual tension" and love feelings between the Chlark relationship. However:
-The characters will mainly be moving on to the next phase of their lives. There will be a sense of leaving the past behind.
-When asked if this possibly being the last season, was there a drive to really push Clark forward, they mention up till now they haven't done a lot with Clark and pursuing a double identity, so Clark will be learning how to balance that. They mention Clark will be the same CK, but closer to Superman.
-They mention there's an option for Lois to do more than 13 episodes. Lois will be more front and center this season.
-Clark's secret identity will be the main thrust. Moving around the crowds in Metropolis will prove more difficult for Clark in comparison to what he has been used to be able to do more easily when being heroic in SV. He will also be accountable to Lois.

-They mention they wanted to mix things up more this year after the last few seasons. They want to honor the fans and love to hear what we say (though they follow what their own vision is). This year will have their own spin. They mention Clark and Lois together at the DP, and how AG/MM were always wanting to hold off on it, but they now want to "let the fun begin".
-"Clark, up till now, has basically denied that there's anything going on with a super hero, in SV or Metropolis. The question hasn't really been asked that much. This season there's going to come a point where Clark can't deny that there's someone out there saving people. That's a key change in the mythology of Clark Kent, that he actually is saying, "Yes, there's this other person." We're not going all the way with it. There will be this red and blue blur that will happen, that people are like, "What is that?". It's a big change for him to actually say "yes, that's not me, but there's something out there". That's the beginning of his double identity. The red and blue blur will be his street clothes. Jimmy Olsen does have a camera, and Lois is very curious. If they're working side by side, those worlds are going to collide."
-"Clark has always been reactive in the show, he's always been "Oh, something's happening". Clark's decision to go to the DP is his way of saying "I can't 'stick it out' (?) at the farm anymore, I've got to use my powers to help people." He's going out there. He's looking for them."

As for Lana Lang? A roundtable discussion with Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer reveals that:

One call-back to the show's earlier times comes with the return of Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang for five episodes of the series, most likely airing during November sweeps. "We can't wait. It's going to come at a very bad time for Clark," Slavkin reveals. "She will look different. Visually, it will not be the Lana Lang that we're used to seeing. We're very excited," he says.

"Of course, she'll be just as beautiful as always," Darren Swimmer adds. [Reports say Kristin Kreuk has cut her hair to be very short].

"She's grown up," Todd reveals. "She's left Smallville and she's going to come back a woman. Obviously, she was a woman since she got married, but she's [still] a kid. She was living in the same town her whole life. This is her chance to come back with a stronger point of view than she ever has [had]," he says.
