  • 3.13 "The Verdict In The Story"

So, what do y'all think of last night's episode? I do not want to give a long review, but let me just say:

IT WAS FU*KING AMAZING! IMHO, the last five minutes had me shocked and heartbroken. How far Brennan would go to save her father was so amazing and that song when the verdict was revealed? Amazing! I feel that everything going on was so great. I loved the return of the anthropologist from the premiere, and everyone being against Max, and Angela going to jail, etc. I loved it all. One of "Bones" best episodes!

Yeah, F*CKING AMAZING seems to be the only way to describe it! And it took me until the middle of the epp to figure out that the defense forensics anthropologist was the guy from the season premiere, lol....

    Here's my review:

Wow, what an episode! Such a beautiful and touching ending, and such a wonderful balance of humor, drama, and emotion throughout, with excellent performances all around! A top 5 episode for sure, and especially perfect for someone like me who watches only for the character development/plots and storylines, since there was literally NO mystery--all stuff about her father and the murder from "Judas on a Pole" (another fantastic top-5 episode, which this episode really made me want to watch again, especially with all the flashbacks to it here)! Though I am kind of curious now as to how that guy in the beginning ended up in that position....:P

But yeah, I loved the emotion and suspense, and the way the defense was finally able to win, against all odds--substituting Brennan into all those scenes was so creepy and cool! And Booth and Brennan were just too damn adorable in this episode, and so wonderful sweet and NATURAL--thank you writers! Like when they kept whispering to each other in the courtroom (lol! and awww! Like little kids almost), and kept having coffee together between breaks, and Booth's "heart" speech, when they're teasing Sweets on the bench, saying, "I think he likes us...." lol! They're such a unit, it's beautiful......and yeah, I thought he might kiss her for a second there at the end (though I knew rationally the mean producers wouldn't let them yet) when I saw the lean, but the hug was almost as good, it just felt so real and full of emotion, and was so appropriate in that moment. It was also so poignant when he insisted Bones would never murder someone, the way he looked on the verge of tears and was all choked up....oh man! You can just see how much he loves her there.....very well done, and great acting on DB's part! My friends and I cheered and clapped when her father comes out in the end.....man, I was so worried he'd be convicted and executed when I heard someone might die next week, but I guess not.....but yeah, I was constantly squeeing during this episode, as well as laughing and wanting to cry....and Angela and Hodgins (the look he gives Angela!) and Zach were all great too, and Caroline (hilarious and amazing as always, though I was pissed she put Angela on the stand when she told Caroline up front she wouldn't testify!).....And that guy who worked for the defense, who I didn't recognize until half-way through as being the one who almost replaced Zack in the beginning--I loved how he knew a trick Zack didn't!

This actually would have made a good season finale! I hope next week's epp can match it, though from the promos it doesn't look like it....I feel disgusted that they're going to mention/promote American Idiot on Bones after all the crap that AI has put Bones through over the years.....> It makes me sick, and would only be okay if, in response to Brennan's, 'What's American Idol?" (seen in the promo), Booth candidly replied, "It's that stupid show that's always pre-empting us!" :P
Promise that you'll return to me.

I know, American Idiot on Bones?! It's going to die!

Anyways, sorry for the incoherent review before. I'm so gonna watch it again so I'll get a good one in there soon. But Sherr, you about said everything!

I forgot to say one obvious thing: Booth's mini-speech about how he knew Brennan and how much they went to was so beautiful Plus, I love this one little gesture of love in the last scene. Brennan and Max sees each other. Max smiles and kind of shakes his arms to show how excited and happy he is that she did it and then they hug. I don't know why, but that one motion is my favorite part in the whole episode. And that last scene? Favorite scene in the history of...well, "Bones"!

Promise to have a full review soon.

I have changed the title of the thread because Parker is right, this week's episode was eppy 3.13.

As for the episode itself, sherrilina has pretty much said it all and I completely agree with her review. Definitely one of the best, most touching and poignant Bones episodes ever, I enjoyed every second of it! I laughed plenty of times while watching this ep and the last scene made me cry with its sheer beauty!

And can I just add how much I love Angela right now! She is my new hero! I have always liked her because she is so warm and loving but in this week's episode she truly shined. I love that Angela's friendship with Brennan is so important to her that she puts it above her job and her professional pride, that she even goes to jail for her beliefs. I love the scene when Angela is handcuffed in the courtroom and says to all her friends that this is one of these instances where she knows she is right and they are wrong (or something along these lines). Angela rocks!
