Lost: Season Four discussion

I thought we should just ahve a thread for an ongoing thing to discuss as the episodes air.


How is everyone enjoying the newest season? I think it is awesome. You can really sense a new pace being established int he series now that the showrunners now have an end date in sight. Questions are getting answered. And, of course (in true Lost form) more questions are being brought up.

I have to say I have loved the first three eps that have aired so far. All stellar and chock full of goodness. Lots of neat reveals and twists.

As for "The Economist"....I have always really liked Sayid but he's been sort of set to the sidelines for the last few seasons, it seems. And sadly, his flashback episode tended to bore me some. But last night? Awesomeness. Sayid rules, dude. And he's been getting a lot of good stuff to work with this season thus far. So that's cool. On the other hand, lots of the other regulars have already been shuffled to the back. Sun, Jin, Claire....but I am sure we will see them soon.

I live in the UK were season four started 2/3 weeks ago, so we're only three days behind the US with fresh episodes, making it a lot easier to stay spoiler free!!! I have seen the first two episodes so far and I have to say that this season is off to a fantastic start, I thought that the third season was a great improvement after the 2nd season so I'm glad that the new episodes continue to be great stuff.

I just got around to watching this episode yesterday (thank you sky plus) and I have to say it left me with more questions, not to mention more theories about the show as a whole... I liked the introduction of the ''not penny's boat'' people, some of them I like, others I found mildly annoying (not nikki & paulo annoying, but annoying just the same) but at the same time not enough to let it ruin the episode.

The flashbacks in this episode were again like the new characters themselves some I found a little boring and others had me fixed to the screen, I'm a little unsure at this point.

Daniel Faraday: I like he seems awkward and unsure of himself, but seems to be a nice guy, but his flashback didn't interest me at all.

Miles Straume: who you gonna call? haven't really made my mind up about him yet.

Frank Lapidus: Thought he was alright I thought his flashback was great, I like that he was supposed to be the pilot, a great connection to flight 815.

Charlotte Staples Lewis: Her character I found quiet annoying, yet her flashback was fantastic!!!! The skeleton of the polar bear and the dharma collar!!!

Was it just me or did everybody call sawyer by James in this episode, not a single mention of the name Sawyer.

I think that there is a danger of your head exploding after each new episode so many questions...

-Does time run slower on the island than in the real world?
-They found Oceanic 815 at the bottom of the ocean... what year?
-The Dharma polar bear... did they try these experiments ect before discovering the island?

Oceanic 6:

Kate, Jack, Hurley....

I have a feeling that Sayid may be one of the Oceanic 6, I wouldn't like to say I was a hundred percent certain but it was just a feeling I got from the scene where Jack, Kate and the others rushed to the top of the hill to find the helicopter. The camera closed in on Kate, jack and sayid's faces, I loved the expressions on their faces and how the music became louder at that point, love this moment so much.

I also think that Locke could be one of the O6... because after thinking about the possibilities of each character and how they could leave the island I decided that Locke is the last person you would think of... I also believe that he could have been the person in the coffin at the end of season 3 flash forward.

I think the thing I am most looking forward to with Miles is what will happen with the whispers. I think he is goig to be able to really listen to them

Well, I think everyone pretty much knows that's not his name. But I really find it is only Kate and Locke who refer to him by that name. Everyone else stills uses Sawyer.

Well there is something very interesting regarding the first question in the next episode. But it's still far from a definitive answer.

And I have no idea when the flashbacks took place or when the wreckage was found.

As for the polar bear...methinks it maybe some time until we really know. My first inclination was that Dharma had some sort of test site there. One of their experiments was to try and adapt species to survive outside their natural habitats. On the other hand, I have also read some theories that suggest some sort of time paradox at work. I'm not sure what's going on. This is Lost, after all!

I don't think so personally. I also don't think it is Locke in the coffin. It seems too obvious, imo. But after the next ep, there's one or two more characters who could fall into the running as the one in the coffin as well.

My first thought and probably still my most likely guess is that it is Michael. It makes sense on so many levels.

I still got questions about the show but it's not gonna turn me away, btw why in TV Week is the next episode have DOMINC AND IAN credited? (On Thursday Page, there's no summary but just as the actors and both of them are credited), it's th Ecnomist episode I believe.

I thought it was mentioned on the first episode that John was still on the island in the future?

No. Neither are credited nor do they appear in "The Economist." I've already watched it twice. They also are not listed as appearing the upcoming eps either. Perhaps it was a goof of the magazine's. :/

No, it wasn't. Hurley did mention Locke but he mentioned him in regards to what happened on the island. Not after.

Yeah it was a mistake since neither were in it (Plus it was Sayid's flashfoward, unless they were risen from the dead then there's no way they could be there).

I trhought The Encomist was a good episode, so Sayid is the fourth or fifth survivor of Oceanic 06? (So saying that Locke is the fourth survivor, althought I dunno why Locke would even leave). The promo said next week we will find out who the next survivor is.
And why do I have a feeling it's Sawyer? Perhaps it's because Locke/Kate/Jack/Sawyer seemed to be the main characters (Aside from Charlie) for the past seasons. Sayid/Hurley haven't exactly been showing until this season alot.

So what will happen to Claire, the baby, Sun, Jin, Benalrd (SP?), Rosie, Juliet, Desmond and all the others?

Yeah, he was the fourth. And you will find out someone else who made it off the island next ep.

So there's two more (Next episode is a Kate entric episode....OMG it's Sawyer! Think about it, it's Kate centeric and if Sawyer got off that Island...I bet it's him, he would be the only other survivour that would appear in her flashforward and we already seen Jack.)

So I am guessing the show ends in 2010 like they said it would, in matter of those seasons, who will die and how will they die.
