Okay, I wasn't sure where to put this, it was either New Shows, or here, and I went with here.

I haven't seena thread for PP yet so thought I'd start one. First of all I am most definitely prefering this to GA this season, as I really wasn't intending to like it, and more importantly I was really against liking Chris Lowell after VM, lol, yes I am that prejudiced - but the little bugger actually made me like him in this!

What I love about this series is the fact that we have a smaller cast and a tight-knit group of people, their stories can pan out more casually, and we have a lot of face time with the guest stars and their stories, it doesn't feel as crammed as GA does, I'm generally more of a lover of smaller-cast series rather than ensemble cast as I always feel we get more stories out of central characters, and more development.

More importantly, to me, the characters in PP are far more mature (okay, yes they have their immature moments!) than in GA, they are at a different point in life and have all had failed relationships that they are dealing with and moving on from. But the relationships that exist in PP, are better written than those in GA IMO. I just feel that the nature of their relationships (all forms, not just sexual) are done in a more realistic and mature manner. Maybe that's just me, but when I compare the two series, I always find that the relationships I care more about are those in PP, and it has only had 9 episodes!

I also feel the setting has a lot to do with the general mood and feel to the episodes. We have been taken out of the hospital and "clincial" setting and thrown into something far more relaxed and friendship/partner orientated, and thus our storylines, to me, feel a little more personal, and it feels like there is far moe interaction between all of our characters and guests.

I find in Grey's that there are several characters, I just don't like. Or characters that bug me to no end, or aspects of characters I don't like, etc, etc. but with PP I have been pleasantly surprised to find that I like all of the characters, and am enjoying their quirks and nuances. I think it has been cast extremely well especially with Paul Adelstien as Cooper, I absolutely love him in this role. I could be a little bias toward PP, Adison was my favourite character in Grey's and so I was glad to see her get her own series, but I was really ambivalent before watching this as to whether or not she could carry a show as a more central character, and yet I think that the whole chemistry between her and the others just works fantastically.

Which brings me to Chris Lowell. I'm sorry but any guy who can do "A Happy Pap" and do "Midwifery" and shout "Vulva" in a waiting room... you can't not love him. I often feel like Chris is out of sorts with the other characters - but I do love that about him, he's sort of on the outside, looking in to what the others have and to their jobs, and he tries to get involved, but more for Naomi's sake. But, although he is a younger character, I do like the contrast used in the show, and the constant remarks about him being a "child".

Okay, so I am done with my rambles. I just really wanted to open up some discussions on this series since I really can't remember seeing any and I've just finished re-watching it all back-to-back.

Anyone know if there's going to be any more episodes of this aired? I know GA had 11 or 12 filmed, but wasn't sure about PP. Also, anyone know if it is likely to get picked up for another season next year?

    1. There was a thread. But it probably got moves since we stopped posting in it.

    2. IA full season order was ordered so there will be more eps. But I believe what has aired is all that was completed before the strike.

    3. It's okay. Mostly, I really love the Paul Adelstein character. And Violet too. Those characters make the show for me. There so quirky in a really sweet way I probably wouldn't have decided to continue watching if it weren't for them.

slaycandy, thanks you! I thought I was the only one not liking a lot of the characters and how they act sometimes. But I love GA more than PP, although PP is very well thought out and you?re right, the characters are more mature. Addison and Pete.
What are your thoughts of the season so far?

I honestly feel like the only characters left in GA that I like are getting very little screen time and there aren't exactly any stories or plotlines building up around them - and so for me personally, season4 just hasn't been as enjoyable to be, I've been liking it less and less throughout season 3 up until now; and when I heard Addison was leaving I was really disappointed - as mentioned she was most definitely one of my favourite characters.

So I guess to me, PP has sort of filled a hole where GA used to be, I am currently loving all of the characters, and all of the inter-woven-interactions between them, the episode where they all wound up not sleeping with their intended partners and meeting with other friends instead just had me grinning, since I personally have a little Copper/Addison love, lol. I just think that they'd make a great family with little kids together, etc, lol, maybe not so good for the storylines on TV though, but I reckon they'd be cute together, lol.

I've really liked the way PP has begun, and at the end of the day it is only 9 episodes into the season, and so a lot of the relationships, and basic plot-lines are just being built up, and we still have a lot of back-story to catch up on. I feel like this series has more potential to get better and be more entertaining, while GA just feels like it's on a downward slope IMO.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but each week I was comparing the episodes, and I always found the PP ones to be more enjoyable than the GA ones. I hate Meredith, Derek, and Gizzie and between them they've had a lot of screen time and so I've found myself not enjoying those eps as much. But hey.

I'm just going to have to wait until more episodes appear, whenevr that may be, to see how the two turn out, who knows I may wind up being swayed back to GA!

        *hugs*

One thing I like about both shows is the way how all of the characters are all screwed up, trying to deal with life and trying to deal with their own mistakes.
About GA, Am I the only one that thinks Meredith is boring? And I don?t really like Callie but I think Izzie/George in season 3 is kind of boring too? What do you think?

No. I think the consensus is that most of us who watch don't care a great deal about Meredith. I certainly don't.

But I am not highly invested in most of the characters on PP either. Even Addison seems different than she did on GA. I do love Cooper tons though!!

I like Cooper too. And I don?t know why, but I find Violet very interesting and complicated.

Again on GA, what do you think of season 4 so far? I mean, I think George/Izzie is boring. They hang out, then they don?t. What?s the deal?
And I think the Grey sisters are drama queens. They act like their problems are the end of the world and that no else knows how they feel. I still like Cristina very much, Bailey and I?m liking Callie more.
But I don?t know, it seems that in this season, there?s something missing.

I'm not really a fan of GA but I caught the season premier for s4 over here in Australia on Sunday night. And must admit I laughed out loud a few times, and was generally compelled to keep watching. I was doing other things but would stop and stare at the screen everyone once in a while. Which is an accomplishment because these kind of shows usually don't appeal to me. But since I'm not a big fan like yourselves I'm probably not the best to judge on how it compares to past seasons?

I don't get the Meredith hate either you people! From what I've seen most people don't like her! From bits I've seen I've always found her character to have a very charming quality about herself, and she's beautiful but not in the traditional sense.. I just think she's great.

Looks like my post of yesterday is gone so I'm gonna say it again. This thread is for discussing Private Practice so please stick to that. If you want to talk about GA, you can start a general season 4 thread or post in the existing episode thread. Just making sure things do not get too much off-topic. Thank you!

Oh sorry Cori. I just saw the post above mine and didn't even realise that this wasn't the G/A thread. I should pay more attention, won't happen again.

Let me ask some questions about PP:

What do you think of the episodes so far?

Don?t you think Pete/Addison relationship would be great?

Does anyone know when PP is gonna come back? Or even Grey?s anatomy? I?m starting to miss Addison!

Um, Grey's has been back for a few eeks. And the two hour finale airs tonight. Addison even popped up in one the eps a couple weeks ago.

And PP will be back in the fall with its second season.

Okay, I'm eight out of nine in, and actually, I'm surprised- I really like this show!!! You know, the way I thought it was billed was as a light fluffy "sunshiney" variation on Grey's- I thought the whole zen finding thing would be a focus. Instead, I think of the eight eps I've seen so far, I'm yet to not tear up at least once in every episode!!!

Violet... amuses me, but in real life I would want to keep far away from her... she's way damaged! Except, of course, who can't relate to the whole insane-never-gonna-happen-past-love-obsession-thing??? So I can't hate her.

I enjoy Addison, but I wonder about the whole "I need a baby storyline". Seems to me that if that was canon to GA, it's a criticism of GA that there was never time to bring anything about that up...

I'm so all for Naomi and husband to get back together and I do like the idea of Pete and Addison but I like that they're not jumping into it too quickly after all.
