  • SciFi's 'Tin Man'

The premiere of the serial, 'Tin Man' was tonight at 9pm. Did anyone see it? What did you think? Thoughts? Questions? Anything else you'd like to add?

    My two cents:

    Spoiler:
Awesome! Glitch is my favorite (I just love Alan Cumming) and I just love the way they twisted the story of the Wizard of Oz into this great scifi story. I'll have more to say after I watch a little more, but I really want to know if Glitch gets his brain back or if poor Tin Man is alive!

I thought it was pretty entertaining. A lot of pretty cookie cutter adventure story elements, but there were a lot of cool aesthetic things going on that I thought were neat.

    Spoiler:
By virtue of the Cain character alone, the flow took on a "Dark Tower" like quality more than a Wizard of Oz quality, because his character appears to be very much modeled after the idea of gunslingers.

I agree with "Entertainment Weekly" in that... I don't see how they settled on this title -- the "Tin Man" is not the central character. It feels like they just took the most science fiction/actiony sounding reference in the story and called the mini-series that.

      Tin Man

      WHO WATCHED IT!

Well I just got done watching the mini - series Tin Man on scfi. As I was watching it I realized it is a very different idea and I like. I think the story line is a little cliché but I liked how they incorporated a lot from the Wizard of Oz in. So if any of you guys watched this good mini-series tell me you views on it, please! Just follow the yellow brick road!

Well Kevin I haven't seen it yet but it's on in 2 minutes and I was planning on checking it out. I hope it's as good as you say it is.

Okay Kevin it's finally over. After 6 hours it's done. I missed a few parts here and there because like I said it was 6 hours. I was mildly entertained. The beginning half was pretty slow. It's understandable because a lot of it was getting the background of the characters and such. The 2nd half was better. Things started to actually happen. The part where I started to laugh was somewhere towards the middle when they're stealing the guys truck. They're trying to start it and the guys like "you can't steal my truck" then Kain's like "how do you start it?" and the guy tells him how and then goes back to complaining that they're stealing his truck. The most amusing character was probably Glitch. Anything Alan Cumming does is good and interesting so no surprise there. I didn't understand why they didn't take his brain out of the tank and just put it back in his head but maybe that wouldn't have worked. IDK. We found out the cattle prod, always a useful weapon in any situation. Hmmm..... can't think of anything else to say. At least you now have someone to talk about the show with Kevin.

I TIVO'd it, but haven't watched it yet - but you said the magic words, Dan - "Dark Tower" and "gunslinger". I'll now be watching it at the FIRST opportunity!

Oh well I answered Kevins thread with all of my thoughts so far. I sat through all of the 6 hours today leaving every so often to do other things. I also though Glitch was the best character and since you guys haven't seen all of it I won't say anything else.
