That was...something all right. Of course, it doesn't help that I was going back and forth between this and the wonderful Office episode on at the same time, but still: something.

Finally Gizzie receives the consequences to their actions! Loved "I'm embarassed for you" and "I will never forgive you you traitorous bitch" I would've liked to see George face the music more, but this is the show that always has women being punished for their actions harshly (not to say that Izzie didn't deserve what she got) while the men get to shine on and be dreamy while acting like douches, which brings me to...

Oh, Derek. I had his back with regards to Cristina because she was being ridiculous (more on that later). I dug the part of the speech where he announced his intentions of getting married and settling down because the S&M stuff is really not a healthy relationship. Surely, I thought, this can't go wrong, right?

As Shonda tries to instill in us repeatedly, you really can't have it all.

So...Meredith's still a green intern? (Color me surprised) And you want to keep with the S&M? But want to find someone to marry in the process? Call me crazy, but would that not be like the prostitue-client relationship? Way to treat someone who has trust issues, McDouchey. That was an even worse ultimatum than "put me out of my misery" These two need to seriously get over their issues (because this relationship isn't flailing solely because of Meredith's emotional inadequacies) and either get together or break it off. Run, Meredith, run!

Yay for Callie getting her spine back! I knew she had it in her!

Less yay for Cristina being a Nazi without the helpfulness. She really shouldn't complain about Lexie using the family name to gain a leg up on the other interns as she was the one who dated and slept with an attending. To be fair, Lexie's not completely without fault - as dismissive as Mere and Cristina have been towards her, they've at least tried to teach her, both times being me with her whining. I'd also like to see some character growth of Lexie independent of Mere, so that it wouldn't be so obvious that she's a plot device *sigh*

NTWOI is not bugging me as much as I thought. Liked his plot, strangely.

Rounding out the emotionally manipulative was Adele trying to guilt Richard into saving New!Camille. Even considering his work and the affair, there would still have been plenty of time for them to have a child - as seen in last season, sometimes Richard really does need a strong push in the right directions, so I don't doubt that if she wanted a child, she could've gotten him to do the deed.

Next week: My god. Meredith dies again? And Alex and Ava? After all the (correct) comments to Izzie this episode? Please, please no.

As an aside - I'm really tired of all the inappropriate sex. Given the life and death nature of their profession in addition to the natural competition between interns, residents and attendings and the various doctors' backgrounds which will provide conflicts with regard to patient care, there's plenty of drama that can be utilized without resorting to adultery or having sex with your higher-ups or Kick the Meredith/Callie.

    Okay....

    1. I absolutely detest when characters--however minor--are recast. I was actually confused for a moment with Richard's niece. Couldn't they find a better storyline that didn't involve recasting the character? I think so. So whatevs, Shonda!

    2. LOVED Alex in this episode! He speaks his mind--sometimes to his detriment--but what he said to Izzie was right and what we all been saying all along! She told him she wasn't ready after Denny and then she moves onto George is "in love." Way to call her out, Karev! Also loved that later he was pissed because she told him she slept with George as if he was "one of her girlfriends." He doesn't appreciate the way she treats him because she knows that he has feelings for her still, Ava/Rebecca notwithstanding. He just does. And those two had a few sweet moments toward the end of season three to establish that. And Izzie just seems to disregard those feelings without realizing it hurts him.

    3. I'm so not caring about the whole Mer/Derek deal. *yawn* They've been going back and forth for over three seasons now. Figure yourselves the F out already. Seriously.

    4. So when is Mark going to get some real meat to work with? He's just there and it's a shame. Give him something to do alreay! We are four eps in already and he's had nothing!

    5. My stupid DVR cut off the last few moments/scenes for next week. grrrr Will have to adjust the timer on it. I keep forgetting.

    6. Oh, Callie. Poor, Callie. I was reading the TV Guide this week and one of the reviewers was commenting on how even when she wins, she loses. Too true! She gets her a man and gets married only to have him cheat. And then she gets a terrific promotion, but really only gets it because Richard thinks Bailey is essentially overqualified and no one has respect for the woman's authority. But, oh Callie, you made me this week. I think Sara Ramirez did a spectacular job this episode. She went through so many emotions. And when she looks so hurt after Izzie tried to fight her (Seriously, Izzie? I used to you so!) I about died.

    7. Overall, this season is already looking better than last. So yay on that. And it looks like this whole Gizziegate thing is inching toward a close. Thank god. I can't wait to see more Alex this year! The TV Guide says we will get more about him this season. So woo!

    8. Sorry for my sloppy thoughts!

I know! I was so looking forward to seeing Tessa Thompson again, but we get the girl from Bernie Mac. What the hell?! I mean yeah that girl was a good actress but I so would have loved Tessa more.

Callie was just made out of win this episode. I don't think I have ever loved her as much as I had at the moment when she said "Don't you dare come to me for forgiveness you traitorus bitch." I mean am I the only one that got mega chills and squee'd super hard? I used to love Izzie so much, seriously! and now I just can barely look at her. She has become so self involved and thinks that if she is in love then everything should go her way, but the thing is, is that Callie is in love also and Callie had George first. Izzie had her chance but just chose not to see him like that until he was unatainable. I love Gizzie but it just happened at the wrong time. I want my Gallie

I really liked this episode though, I thought the whole Mer and ROI stroryline was fun, though maybe I just love seeing Richard saying 'seriously' constantly and trying to fit in with the others... if only Lorelai could see him

I was kinda pissed at Derek, I mean yeah Cristina could have lightened up on Lexie but christ, he is playing favorites. He is starting a connection with her and is being just as bad a role model as Cristina was in my opinion and I really just wanted to smack him, which I had just gotten over! But he did make up for it at the end with the speech to Meredith. That was a very sweet scene.

Poor Alex, I can't wait for the next ep! I so hope they do the right thing between him and the woman who will be in the next ep, he really needs it and I can so see happiness in his future!

I was so disappointed! I was, to be honest, annoyed by Bernie Mac girl. What I liked about Tessa Thompson was she still gave off a positive feeling even though she was dying... which in the end would have so much more effect when she will inevitably die... I am betting she didn't come back for last minute scheduling conflicts or something...

I really think Izzie is only reaching for George because of his unatainability. I mean she did have a boyfriend a long way away and also fell for a guy who had a very slim chance at living... it isn't unlike her to go for things that can't possibly be low drama or less stable...

I did get mega chills from Callie, yes. Although I was a little bit irked that she was mad at Izzie that she thought there was going to be a fight. I mean listen to her tone when she said "meet me at noon". She also said it in front of interns... of COURSE its going to get round the hospital in an over exagerated way. The spreading of it also helped to build up Izzie's nervousness.

I keep expecting her to show up damnit...

I never saw him get mad at Bailey for being less than positive with the interns... theres inconsistancy in the character in that regard. I mean yes Cristina was being a little overboard... but she is still learning to help the interns learn. Not like she has been at it very long. Just as I liked Derek he had to go be an ass... I agree that the end speech made me squee v.v damnit Derek for making me love and hate you...

More on Cristina... she was in the right later on and it was easy to see it... Derek was quite mookish that way... And unprofessional and undermining to do it in front of Lexie!

Poor Alex, I can't wait for the next ep! I so hope they do the right thing between him and the woman who will be in the next ep, he really needs it and I can so see happiness in his future!
        Spoiler:
I am still Alex/Izzie... I don't want him with Rebecca v.v She bothered me at the end. Also did anyone else notice that the guy that wants to amputate his leg was a Nip/Tuck storyline? That... would bother me if this weren't Greys

I guess I am the only one who wasn't pissed at Derek. I was telling this to Heather in a PM earlier. I didn't think he was being overly harsh with Christina. He saw that she was treating Lexie like shit just because she is Mer's friend. It was wrong. And Lexie might have made a mistake but she is an intern and that's what they do. They have to learn somehow. Derek was trying to facilitate that, I think. So, he was a little mean but someone had to snap Christina out of it. She tends to get wrapped up in things and isn't always able to look at the bigger picture. If she could step outside herself a little she might see that. So I don't know. *shrugs*

But you weren't alone, Joe! I got chills when Callie said that too. It's nice to know this show is actually able to make me feel again.

I was all for Derek too, actually, both with the Cristina thing and the Meredith thing. Frankly, he's putting his cards on the table, telling Meredith what he needs, and telling her what he's willing to accept. It's just kinda a pain, though.

I'm really hoping Mark's gonna get a decent storyline soon, though.

And Izzie... I was embarrassed for her. I just wish she'd have realised long ago that the unnattainable thing was no good. I hold no hope for Alex/Izzie now- she needs serious alone time and he needs Ava! Yayay! She's coming back!

And Callie. OMG I Callie. She has it so rough, and believes in the vows she took... and her life just sucks now... She's a strong kick-ass chick. I her. Totally.

Altogether: a good ep, looking forward to next week!

Just want to add: I think Adele was unfair- I get her point, her reasoning, but... she's being unfair. I do always love seeing Loretta Devine, though. She's a top actress.
I also thought the storyline of the couple who were pushing each other too far- that was so horribly tragic. Domestic violence at its worst, imo.

              I really enjoyed this episode

Finally Gizzie came out and was laughed at! They are definitely fighting over nothing and Alex was amazing throughout! I loved the way he showed his feelings for her and the simple act of bringing her the issues at the end.. not to mention how hot he looked in that top!!

Derek and Meredith.. kinda blah on all this. I did enjoy Meredith losing the patient and Mark telling Derek she is still an intern. When Derek was telling her at the end how he wants this life with her but if he meets someone else before she's ready then it's fair game was a nice touch. I think she needs to realise that she has the classic abandonment issues and that she needs to get help for it if she wants to keep this amazing man. I'm sorry but if that isn't motivation to get help I don't know what is!

I liked Callie again in this.. with that guy who wanted his girlfriend to lose all that weight.. when she was yelling at him 'let me break someone's bones' I did feel that I really hope she forgives George but tells him he has to transfer to Mercy West or something, I can't stand Gizzie so much I'd lose George in a heartbeat. I feel there isn't much else to go with him now. He's lost a parent, got married, had an affair.. it's time to close his story.

Christina and Derek were great, I loved how he was teaching her to teach Lexie. The Chief and his niece.. I'm with Jenni Lou, I really hate re-casting so much, even for a minor storyline /sigh It did lead to a moment with Adele that touched me. 'I thought your job was to save lives' I guess she's too close to see that her niece will die anyway, and that treatment would have been a horrible option.

Hopefully the season will continue getting better from this point

Ouch. Not that I disagree. We know so much about George and he's become a bore with this whole affair ordeal. We know more about him than probably any other character, if you think about it. I'd like to learn more about Alex because we NOTHING and even Izzie because we haven't even met any of her family and no her daughter doesn't count. Or Mark....there's got to be more to him than once having had an affair with his best friend's wife.

So, yeah, I could let George go real fast too!

Yeah Alex is a really interesting character for me and I even still feel I want to know more about Izzie's past but as long as she's not still weaping over George!

I just feel the balance of the characters has gone wrong. It's so bad when the lead character is so hatable and then they have just developed these people in the wrong direction and badly at that.

Bring on more Alex, at least he still seems normal
