  • Returning characters

So what characters in the buffyverse (including characters in angel) would you like to see return in season eight or after the fall?

In Buffy's Season eight, I thought bringing Amy back was brilliant, but Warren was despicable. Their story hasn't been resolved so I'm trying to reserve judgement , but I really feel he should've stayed dead and it should've been Rack who was brought back as Amys boyfriend. It would make a lot more sense I think. He makes more sense as Amys boyfriend, as not actually being dead when we thought he was and being in the season where magic is playing such a large part.

Other characters that I would like to see again...

D'HOFFRYN! With twilight trying to end magic, it would seem d'hoffryn would surely want to stop him. Even though we've seen his very evil side, we've also seen his funny side and I could see him fighting on buffy's side like Dracula.
I think OZ is already planned on returning & I'm anxious for that as well. But how about DEVON! I want to see him again just because he was hot and I wish we saw more of him. He was friends with Oz so he could come back alongside Oz. maybe they're lovers now lol. There WAS always something about oz, so quiet and sensitive- plus he was attracted to Willow...just kidding. I don't want oz to be gay, but i'm just saying it really wouldn't seem all that crazy a notion. Really, I just think it'd be cool if Devon & Oz were still friends.
At first I didn't like the idea of Riley being twilight, but the more I thought about it, it would make sense & it would add alot to his arc. So I'm hoping RILEY is twilight and that it's not Caleb. Also, we could see GRAHAM come back with the militarys role this season.
OLIVIA. Don't know how she would work in the story exactly, but Giles should be with someone.
GLORY. Also don't know exactly how she might fit into season eight, but I loved her and I'm somewhat unclear about this, but I don't believe she's dead. She was merely beaten back, right? Even though Ben is dead, she could return in another form or something.
DRUSILLA. However it is worked, she NEEDS to return. Whether it be in Angel or Buffy. I'm thinking she would fit in more over in Angel: After the Fall because she'd have more story with Spike & Angel. Maybe a battle with Illyria over Spike? Dru would more than likely be dust, but it might be interesting.

I have been happier overall with the returning characters in Angel myself. I thought Gwen Raiden was a great character who is finally playing a bigger role. I enjoy Groo and it's nice to see him without having to be Cordelias lapdog. Nina Ash is more interesting in the comics, being stuck between her human and wolf form & I like that she's playing a bigger role than last season as well. It was also nice to see Kate Lockley after so long.

One character in Angel that shold deffo return is LILAH. She was one of the series best characters. We've seen her once already since her death and now that Wes is in a similar situation with the 'contracted after death' thing, it wouldn't seem far fetched at all to see her again.
EVE was a pretty craptastic character, but I would like to see what happened to her. She might be more interesting if she became even more evil. More than Eve though, I think ANNE should return. We saw her in the last episode and she has a history with Gunn so she could fit into that storyline. She was kind of a boring character in her later days, but does have a colorful past over on Buffy when she was "Chantarelle" & "Lily", so she might be a totally different person now that everything she was working for went to hell.
I love love love HARMONY, but we got a heavy dose of her in season five so I don't really care to see her again I guess. I'd rather wait awhile for her character to develop! She hasn't really changed since Buffy season ONE! Turning her into a vampire was hilarious and awesome but she didn't even really change then! I know she is supposed to be really airy, so I guess I wouldn't want to see her become more serious and dark, so she wouldn't really fit into After the fall. She would make it seem less hellish because she's too comical.

Of course I'd love to see Tara, Anya & Halfrek again but they are dead and unless it makes sense and is an awesome story then they should stay dead.

Firstly; I don't want dead characters back. We had some dead characters return and that was more than enough.

I would like to see Oz again, but not in BtVS like most people, but in Ats. I've the feeling that he fits better in Ats. I love his conversations with Angel and it would be nice if he could help Nina with her trouble. And the non-powerd humans have better roles in Ats where every hand is needed.

I'm afraid that Riley will be fighting against the slayers as part of an army. I don't know if I want to see that. So he can stay away for his own safety.

I would like to see Drusilla back, but again ... in Ats with Spike and Angel there is more story for her. Maybe a great farewell for her or a great new story? And I want Darla to return in a flash-back or something like that.

It was nice to see Kate again, but I don't need to see every living character ever on Ats back ... so I can do without more return of storyless characters. Or they have to give the character a purpose like Kate with the Epiphany speech.

With BtVS, I don't really need to see characters back, I prefer to know more about the current characters and some new characters in other squads.

I'm not sure I want Drusilla back, actually, in either series. She's the only member of the Fang Gang who isn't dead or redeemed, and doing the latter with her is probably going to come off like a rehash of Darla. I kinda like to know that she's just causing havoc somewhere.

The characters I do want back: Oz and Riley (if he's Twilight) in Buffy, Lilah in Angel.

(set made by Francy for me)

Personally, one of the biggest things I hate about After the Fall is the fact that there's not many original characters. We've got Spider and maybe Beta George, but he appeared prior to After the Fall, so he doesn't fully count. I hate how the randomly place in old characters, but have have no mention to characters like, Anne and Harmony, who we know were in Los Angeles. Anne ran a shelter for runaways, which would be totally be fitting this season.

As for Season 8, I wouldn't mind an old character or two, mainly Oz and Riley/Sam, as long as they're not forced into the storyline just to be there. Also, a villain like, Drusilla popping up for an arc would me okay with me, as long as it's an original storyline.

I'd like to see Oz, Riley and Drusilla back for Buffy Season 8. Only I think Oz would fit better in Buffy given his history with Willow and the Scooby gang, and honestly I really don't think 'After the Fall' needs any more characters returning.

So far the cast list is just too big in 'After the Fall.' Whilst I get a fan happy when I see old faces, the more I reflect on it the more I wish all of the people in 'After the Fall' hadn't been brought back. Nina and Gwen have hardly got stories at all and it feels as if they're there more just because it's a comic and they can be without actor's limitations. And whilst it was fun to see Groo back it's doubtful he's going to get any real story either. We already have to deal with the stories of Angel, Wes, Illyria/Fred, Spike, Lorne, Connor and Gunn without all these other faces turning up.

Anymore and I'd find it very unlikely that any other character just happened to be in LA the night it got sent to hell, which is why I want Dru to come back in Buffy season 8 instead.

The only person I'd want back is as Enisy said, Lilah, because I think she'd be fantastic. But other than that I really think Atf has had enough old faces return.

I was so disappointed that Ethan died so quickly after he popped back up in The Long Way Home...I loved Ethan, he was always one of my favorite villains. I would have loved to see something like what Wolfie et al. did in the BW season eight, where Ethan and Drusilla were working together...that was very cool.

I would like to see Drusilla back regardless, but it would be a bit weird to see her back without spike...not really sure on that one.

Otherwise...I really hope twilight is a new villain, and not a returning character...enough with those! Amy/warren was incredibly lame, and not well thought through (what with the whole Warren appearing as the First thing...), and I expect more out of Joss & co.

I seriously want to see Oz and Drusilla to return most of all characters and Lilah in Angel.

I want to see Oz to return to maybe throw a spanner in the works for Willow because her and Kennedy aren't technically together at the moment and it'd be interesting to actually explore Willow's sexuality and the extent of her gayness because she suddenly turned "gay now" and it's like, "so you were attracted to guys one minute and now you like girls?" Well, I think it was girl in particular and then Kennedy came along and was like rebound. I'd also like to see Oz return in Angel because like somebody said he could really help with Nina's wolfy-ness, also he works well with the team, well Angel... but it'd be interesting.

I'd like to see Drusilla return because she's the only one that nobody has a clue what happened to, it'd be nice to fill in the gap from Crush to where she's at now. Personally
              Spoiler:
I think she's going to return in the Buffy/Fray arc of season 8, I still have a strong feeling that she's the shadowed woman on the front of Georges Jeanty's 8.17 cover.
But even if she doesn't she could still come back. Or maybe, again, in Angel to bring up old feelings between her, Spike and Angel because she is the reason they hate each other so much.

I'd love to see Lilah return because she was just the best character in my opinion, best evil character at least, I loved her and it'd be interesting to see her return, although I'm not sure how that would work exactly, but it could do.

Also, I'd like a general crossover arc where all the characters from Angel and Buffy have to come together to fight something evil, but that'd be quite huge for one arc and would take up quite a few issues and it'd be confusing because season 8 and season 6 are done by different companies. But it'd be nice to see Jeanty's or somebody elses drawings of the Angel crew and vice versa or whatever. I'd be especially nice to see Buffy's reaction to Connor if she doesn't know already and to see Willow's reaction to the whole Fred/Illyria thing assuming she doesn't know already. Also that Spike isn't dead in general.

Dru Dru Dru Dru Dru Dru Dru Dru Druuuuuuu!

Though preferably for season 9 rather than 8, as I think there are quite enough characters in the game at the moment.

Also, Riley would be interesting in the context of all the military involvement. Please not as Twilight though. Though I'd buy Graham as Twilight. But I wouldnt' be all that interested.

So, an anti-returning-character vote for me for Twilight!

I'd like to see Riley and Sam again. Though not if she's dead and he's twilight. I don't think Riley could be Twilight anyway; I love him but he's not that bright or motivated. I'll take Drusilla anywhere, as a Big Bad or a villainess of the week ( re: month). Her lack of family and supposable lack of direction might work well as a parallel for Buffy and crazy is always fun. Segueing on crazy, Dana. Not for any real narrative purpose, I just want to know what happened and if they have a special needs Slayer Squad, which is what I always assumed. Olivia or anyone Giles has every remotely shown interest in, Oz, The Potentials, and Clem. Also Kendra the vampire slayer, just because I liked her.

I'm still not ruling out that Ethan is Twilight and it was a big fake-out.

I'm giving Amy/Warren a chance. I actually thought Amy was quite good. We saw her jealousy in regards to Willow in 'The Killer In Me' and that she's turned more like her mother, which is nice that it's an internal fear in 'The Long Way Home.' I found it believeable she'd want to make Willow pay, especially if she was associating with someone who really would want to make Willow pay. Those kind of feels rub off on you sometimes. And I also felt it gave more significance to 'The Killer In Me' which if you think about it, came quite out of the blue.

Warren was a big mistake with the whole First ordeal, but I actually do find him rather creepy. I think Amy/Warren a quite a creepy couple in general. It'll be interesting to see exactly why Joss did bring them back and what he has in store for them.

I'm not interested in seeing Dru back at all.. unless it's in a flashback, or to be staked. Yes I'm still carrying a little bit of resentment after the season 2 finale, and the death of Kendra
I enjoyed Amy and Warren.. but loved Dracula and Faith of course more. Be interesting to see what role they play later down the road. Riley I'm not so interested in... oh maybe a little, but he's not that exciting (yet). Much prefer some Angel.

Chalk one more up for the Dru club.

Not to be redeemed or killed but just to breeze in cause bucket loads of chaos and breeze out again. That's when Dru is at her best for me. I also think she would be best in a villian team up as her, umm, eccentricities are always better displayed if she has someone to bounce off.

Others I'd quite like to return would be:

(Living) Lyle Gorch, Sweet,Tucker Wells, Marcie Ross and the Order of Taraka (not technically a character I know but still...)

(Dead) The Mayor, Mr Trick, The Master, Maggie Walsh, Quentin Travers, Halfrek.
                          JUST ENOUGH KILL

Much should have been done with Sunday, played by Katherine Towne in the first episode of Season 4, The Freshman. A beautiful female vampire, witty and sarcastic and powerful, and not in the least afraid of the Slayer, could have added to the excitement of the series as a recurring character whom the Slayer could never quite turn to dust.Is it too late? Of course not.

Yes was she the one who almost broke Buffy's arm? If thats the right one the one Buffy staked by throwing the stake, I thought it was good to see a bit older vampire who gave her a fight and wasn't just some idiot grunt vampire.

It just occurred to me the other day re a "returning" character
                                Spoiler:
from another comic...Fray! But, same universe, that it would be the perfect opportunity to return another character who's been in one of the comics....Doctor Who! Come on, it'd be brilliant to have him in a panel in Fray's time.
                                Please?

I'd love D'Hoffryn to return, even with some more vengance demons, I feel like we should be introduced to more. Anya and Halfrek were such interesting characters, that I don't see why we can't have more.

I'd like to see Mr. Maclay again. I dunno why, but he seems like he would fit right in with Twilight, him and the entire Maclay clan. I'd love a confrontation between maybe Willow and Beth (Tara's cousin). I know... I doubt that this will happen, but it'd be interesting to see them working with Twilight.

But I'd like to see kinda Joss' stand on it, since he wrote the episode "Family" he must of had some idea of what the darker secerets were for the family. Though then he went and killed Tara off before getting a chance to bring em in again...

But he should write a comic that takes place in season 6, after Tara and Willow break up with Tara going back home for a day or two.
