After Wolves at the Gate

Does anyone know or want to speculate what the next arc after Drew's arc is going to be? I'm curious if it'll be Jane Epenson's turn...? I'm assuming there'll be a stand alone, written by Joss. Maybe...

The next arc after "Wolves at the Gate" will be written by Joss himself. However, there has not yet been a title given for it. When the arc starts, with Issue #16, cover artist Jo Chen will return to the series.

So there won't be a standalone between 'Wolves At the Gate' and Joss' new arc King? I knew Joss was writing Issue 16 and the arc after this but I assumed that meant he'd be writing the standalone and then the arc, the basic reversal of 'The Long Way Home' and then 'The Chain' Am I wrong?

There goes my speculation that the standalone after this arc will be a Buffy Birthday episode

Oh, it could be a standalone. I'm not sure. He's writing at least the next 5 issues, regardless. I don't think he's going to let anyone else write the standalones.

Oh ok. Well in that case I'm sticking with my speculation that 8.16 will be a Buffy Birthday stand alone. Basically because Xander said he was going to save the vamp nest for Buffy's birthday. Could have just been a joke, but it reminded me of when Willow said "which reminds me Buffy's birthday is coming up..." in 'DoubleMeat Palace' and her birthday episode took place two episodes after. For some reason it just feels like this will happen again.. and I just really want a Buffy Birthday Issue. It could be very touching.

Chen hasn't done the cover since 8.11 I'm not sure why but she had to take some time off. 8.16 will be her first cover since 8.10 (Anywhere But Here.)

After wolves at the gate we will see a standalone with a crossover with fray in if you have no already heard. Then i think joss is writing an arc. Now buffys birthday is in January and i think that the timeline has placed A beautiful Sunset in early January so the fray crossover standalone might be buffys birthday, i would like to be a prophecy of the future and in the vision she sees fray. but if that is not buffys birthday that issue the arc might be her birthday.
