  • Watch Ep 1: The Long Way Home

    Said by the maker:

This is my animated version of the first "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" season 8 episode. Since it is only in comics, I made an animated version. I used "The Movies" Pc game, to animate which simplifies things a ton. For the most part, I followed what it said in the comic but I had to cut things due to what I could and couldn't do with the game...I will be making the other episodes soon..

    Comments and Ratings are appreciated.

I DID NOT WRITE THE COMIC, OR CREATE THE CHARACTERS, I AM NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR THE STORY I SIMPLY ANIMATED THE COMIC
    Watch it then discuss it:

Question: why put in the original actor names in the opening credits? They can't be credited as pictures

Well I'm actually having a ball watching these. It is really funny -- but also I really like it as I haven't been able to get any comics except No Future For You part 1. I mean the animation is really funny, I accept that there must be so, so many limitation and it's not done badly at all. Some things will prove more challenging.

My only problems are the speech -- honestly can't the person copy out the speech properly? And secondly the full extent of scenes -- I really wish that everything was put in there because I think some parts of conversations and maybe scenes have been cut.

Other than that it's great, I mean it's not like it's a Hitchcock film or anything but it's entertaining to watch and good because all I know from the comics is plot outlines on wikipedia!!

i wish the sims productions didn't cut out so many scenes. there is so much missing it doesn't entirely make sense (also, the person needs to spend a bit more time in sims body shop--i personally have made some pretty good look-a-like sims--most of those sims are just generic sims characters rather than designed to look a part). there's a person on youtube that made "once more, with feeling" sims--and that person is just brilliant. not only are the characters pretty good... but they even made many of the outfits and sets.

it would be wonderful if somebody with some amazing skills actually made the whole thing like a rudimentary "buffy: the animated series" (and "angel: after the fall" as well). subtitles would probably be best.

having seen some absolutely *whoa! they did that?* star wars fan productions (my favorite being "how the sith stole christmas"), there are some really talented computer animators out there even among fanbases. i think this would be a great project if we had any of those people among us.

I felt they shouldn't at least cut the last scene. It was the most important scene in te whole arc. And not hard to do.

Some scenes like when Dawn splashed Xander with water, I can see why they were cut, but simple scenes like the ones I mentioned shouldn't be.

Also, they changed Renee from black to white in part 2 and 3, which is confusing and wrong.

I still feel like I missed something where Renee was black in the first place Seriously, even now, I look at the book and I still fail to see it. I couldn't care less really, only affects fan-casting, but it troubles me that I'm lost in the woods on this one.

Haven't watched this yet, but will check it out. Anyone got a link to the OMWF sims as well?

I'd say she's probably mixed race, but not sure (harder to tell in comics I think, since the colours are a little different from real life in any case, and no one looks exactly like life either in terms of their features.

She reminds me of a girl I dated who was half caucasion, half (east indian, pakistani maybe?). Or, she could just be pretty tan. Like I said somewhere else -- the ambiguity is going to make fan-casting polls pretty interesting

What you need is a detailed accent system, based not on Kendra-style "tink" or Leah's Scottish, but defined by a complex spreadsheet of text size, colour and font.

I think it's fairly applaudable that the person took the time to make it at all... I mean, despite all the obvious flaws I was grateful to be able to see it. Entertainment value, high.

Are you talking about this one?! This one over here?! I watched that video just last week and thought it was the most hilarious thing because it was so bad! Which is a compliment, in some aspects, because I don't think this guy thought he worked for Pixar.
But, oh man, in this video, when Anya, Tara and Anya sing "It's getting eerie..." I burst out laughing! And Anya's rock-n-roll bit is almost funnier than the actual scene.
Nevertheless, I still admire the work. Or it's intent at least. I too was impressed by the accuracy of the clothes, and the set. Even that shot where Willow grabs a book and slides over next to Giles was well done... pretty good job if you ask me.
