  • Season 9

Now I for one know that it can be annoying when people getting excited about future seasons this early on, but, I have recently read that Joss has said the following:

"I do know when season eight ends," Whedon said. "But I also know what happens in season nine."

We all know how Joss can tease us with unclear comments like the one seen above, but, I am pretty convinced that Season 9 will happen.

    Are you?

    I am

As you said Joss seems to know where he is heading for the end of this season which I feel is great so at least we know he has planned it out and it won't just go on and on, it will keep tight (even if it will take four years to finish ) and now he seems to already have planned a season nine which is even better. I actually can't believe that Joss has thought that far ahead, I think it shows how passionate he is again, kind of like how he knew in s3 what he would do for the end of season five.

Though it is too far ahead for me to speculate what it may be about because we hardly even know how season eight is going to go yet

I dunno... I hope he means it. But he's EVIL.
I can't really trust him after killing my FAVORITE charecter and then, after we thought she died he put her on the opening credits and then we discover she really is dead and it was just a scame!. grre.

I assume you mean Tara... Amber was only in the credits for "Seeing Red", and the character was alive in that episode. I don't think Joss was teasing when you could have only thought of the character as 'dead' if you'd been reading spoilers. I think it was a nice shout-out to Amber's work to put her in the credit sequence. One of the few things that Joss and Mutant Enemy should be ashamed of is that she wasn't in the credits for the entire Season, and arguably Season 5 as well.

There will be a Season 9, I believe, but keep in mind... Season 8 will still be going on well into the next decade if it is set for 40 or 50 issues right now. We're on 8.07 for October, which means October of 2008 is approximately 8.19, October of 2009 is about 8.31, and October of 2010 is about 8.43. That's if there are no skip months, which we already know there will be. So, with the promise of Season 9, we seem to be assured that, if nothing else (like a movie or mini-series), we'll still be getting new, canon Buffy stories for at least another 10 years or so based on what Joss has already said.

What episode was Balfour in the credits for? I don't remember.

The Jessi character was not in the credits. Joss has said that he wanted to put him in for the first episode so as to throw people off-but they didn't have the budget to make two opening sequences that early on.

I was not aware of that... although he did mention it on the "Welcome to the Hellmouth" commentary, didn't he?

Yeah-I believe that is how I know it. Although at this point all the commentary and interviews sometime bleed together. He definitely did not do that with Amber Benson though. Her placement into the credits was more of a "we should have done this earlier-it's the least we can do" sort of thing.

Ah, I was sure I actually read he did it! But I really do think he did the Amber thing to throw us off.

Well, he doesn't have any obligation to respect the sensitivities of people reading the spoilers -- it's just a by product of why they are called *spoilers*.

Y'know, what I've never heard them explain is what kept them from putting her in the credits earlier? They just not get around to it? Has anybody ever asked it straight out? Seth Green got into the credits by Season 3 and was kept in for Season 4 even though I think they already knew he'd be leaving. Michelle Trachtenberg was in the credits from "Real Me" on. How'd Amber get hosed like that?

lorne was almost a constant fixture from parts of season 2, but also most of season 3 on. he wasn't added in until mid-point through season 4.

lilah certainly could have had crediting for the first half of season 4.

sometimes they don't because the cast is already too crowded (much of buffy's later seasons), which could explain why tara wasn't there. also--she honestly did less than lindsey, lilah and lorne when they were just at guest star status. at least amber benson got cast status in her last episode. they should have done the same for stephanie romanov at least.

"If there is no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do."
"Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh and cruel. But that's why there's us. Champions."
