Favorite action sequence

I got the idea from another thread in which a member said that the fight in the Hellmouth in Chosen was the best action sequence in the series. Personally, I've always thought that the battle on top of the RV in Spiral was my favorite action sequence in the show. I've listed several of the episodes that have notoriously impressive or notable action sequences. Vote for your best, and if I'm missing any big ones (I'm doing it off the top of my head), let us know!

two of the most iconic are on the rooftop in apocalypse, nowish and the opening teaser of city of... angel knocking the door off its hinges in the bachelor's party is also a classic.

apocalypse, nowish gets some points for it ending with angel being thrown off a building with a stake in his neck.

shells has the amazing moment with illyria grabbing angel and spike's swords.

and i love the bit in time bomb where illyria kills most of A.I. in a few seconds in the training room.

spike's fights with xin rong and nikki wood are also favorites.

Buffy and Faith in 'Graduation Day' without a doubt. The best stunts on Btvs ever in my opinion and made even greater by the rage and emotional conflict between both of these girls that had been simmering all season. The story behind these two and their conflict is what drove this fight into such an amazing clash, the superb and breathtaking stunts only elevated it further.

I was trying to go pretty much with BtVS, there'd be quite a bit more if I included the sequences from AtS. But, yeah, Fool for Love is one that maybe should've made the list.

Like Mogs said, Grad Day with Faith and Buffy. It's just the greatest. A close second was Becoming for me but then I got to thinking and realized it's not really the fight that makes me love it, it's the very last bit right before Buffy was gonna take him out so that was the defining factor between the two. Another good one was Giles vs. Willow but one even better was Buffy vs Willow. I mean you can't really beat Willow saying, "Oh Buffy, you really need to have every square inch of your ass kicked." Awesomeness right there!

I picked prophecy girl. My favorite scene EVER on buffy is when she just got CPR from Xander and the camera starts up from the ground showing buffy in the lead, and xander and angel behind with the theme music playing and she walks up and stakes a vampire. AWESOME!

I picked the swordfight with the fight between Faith and Buffy close behind. But the swordfight has 'me', it has Angelus and a great dramatic feeling. Finally is Buffy ready to stand up against Angelus ...

Agreed, nothing else really compares. The handcuffs segment is pure genius.

That being said, I actually prefer Buffy's stunt double from the later seasons to the one from the earlier seasons (too lazy to look up names, sorry) on the whole.

I voted for the Angleus/Buffy fight.

The fight was really awesome as well and I loved the sword fight. I think angelus would have won but buffy caught him by suprise. And the sword catching thing was part of the action sequence anyway

eh, i think ultimately the fight was at an impasse with buffy at the upper hand right before the fight was interrupted by what really caught angelus by surprise (the spell). she certainly wasn't at her last blow (a beheading? i don't think she was that thick to behead him when she needed his blood--not dust--and to shish kebab him.). technically, willow won the fight.

in a strange way, angelus won the fight when he pulled out the sword... because of that moment early on in the fight when buffy was distracted, buffy actually lost one of the last two things she had left (angel and herself). angelus succeeded in taking angel away from her.

but yeah, the "me" moment is great... though the "close your eyes" stuff is really the best part of the scene.

yeah, ats kind of pops out at me as having MUCH better action sequences.

two of my favorite moments are angel and darla jumping off of the rooftops in city of... and reunion.

I'm torn between three.

The first is the swordfight in Becoming because I just love it, I think it was choreographed incredibly well and it also includes one of the greatest moments where Buffy grabs the sword mid-stab and says "Me." Also, it precedes the whole Bangel "Close Your Eyes" bit which is one of my favourite finale moments.

Next it was Enemies, it's not really an action sequence per se, but I love the few seconds we get of Faith/Buffy fighting because it gives you a taster of things yet to come. And the dialogue and action before with Angel revealing he was acting is brilliant.

Finally it was Graduation Day with the Buffy/Faith fight for some of the reasons I said before and because it was interesting to see Slayer pitted against Slayer in a fight, literally, to the death (or so Buffy thought).

Good point, never thought about that. Maybe she was going for his throat? Or maybe she really lost sight of the big picture for a moment there...

I chose The Gift, but really there are a lot of great action sequences. I love how Buffy throws everything at Glory and the fight is pretty good. My second favourite is Faith/Buffy in Graduation day pt 2. Wow, that is amazing! Really well done and I just love the both of them kicking each other?s ass.

For me it was a toss-up between Buffy/Angel in Becoming Part II, and Faith/Buffy in Graduation Day Part I. I wound up picking Graduation Day, as the fighting is just much more tighter and gripping than in Becoming. The climax when Buffy slams the knife in her gut - awesome.

I voted for the Buffy/Ubervamp in Showtime, simply because I found that one the creepiest. It was the first time I ever thought 'oh man, Buffy could die' in a fist fight. On the edge of my seat! For all the others there was no doubt in my mind that Buffy would win. I count The Gift as winning, because she saved the world

Actually she didn't know that she needed his blood at the time. She didn't know the portal would open until Angelus was turned back and they were hugging. That's when she saw Acathla start to open up. So really, she wouldn't care if he was dust or blood. It didn't matter at that point. And Willow didn't win the fight on that one. It was already too late once she ensouled him. Granted, if he wasn't ensouled Buffy might have turned him to dust before she saw the portal open but still. Willow wasn't the winner in that one.

She must have expected it, though. Giles told her that removing the sword would activate the demon.

I very much enjoyed the Buffy v Angelus fight, but from the ones you haven't included I'd say I that I absolutly adored Spike's fight with the Chinese Slayer in 'Fool for Love'.

A beautifully arranged little fight scene which apart from having the most beautifully atmospheric backdrop, managed to show how primitive Spikes fighting skills were at that point in his 'unlife'.

The Slayer was technically the superior warrior here, but through luck and simply brute strength he managed to best her. Wonderfully choreographed. I remember in JM talks at cons he always speaks very highly of her skill and absolute professionalism.

Honorable mention must Also go to his fight with Niki in the same episode. Fast, vibrant and colourful, and which helped once again to reflect in the action Spikes frame of mind.

And finally I loved Spikes fight scene with Buffy at the end of 'Harsh light of Day'. A very simple fight scene, but well choreographed and once again showed off what a vicious little git early Spike could be. He always had a sort of dirty street fighter style as this scene shows all too clearly.

i super enjoyed the faith vs. buffy fight . DAMN
but i voted for the very last fight the scobbies every did . they went down in the hell mouth and destroyed it from the inside . it was awesome . and sad and heroic.

the angelus vs buffy fight is not one of my favs . its a little drawn out and boring . (SORRY) haha . i sometimes fast forward to the stabbing . i no the sword fight was obviously very brillant and perfect, im sure it took a lot of effort . but just didnt catch my attention haha
