  • Move Plots You Want To See

I'm looking for a future career as a script writer and i've just finished my first film, which was a Buffy film.

Now i have three Buffy films in the pipeline. I've finished my first which was a re-make of the original movie and an adaptation of The Origin comic (I do accept the origin as canon but i have a few problems with it).

So my next film takes place straight after chosen, and here is the plot:

It continues straight after Chosen, and Buffy and the gang go and relocate to Giles' house to start to build their new army. Whilst they are building their army, a new threat has risen, an Old One. Eons ago when the Old Ones ruled the earth, there was a evil and very powerful one. A few Old Ones decided he was too powerful and that his power should only be if demons were to become extinct. The Old Ones took him down and put him in a come and bound him to another plan of existence, they put a curse on him, nad that curse was if the hellmouth were ever destroyed they would need his power to fight back against whatever destroyed the hellmouth as they believed if the hellmouth were destroyed then that meant demons would soon be destroyed. So he awakes and Buffy and her new slayers that are slowly being found have to destroy him. Sub-plots include Xander mourning Anya which see's him at the end leave (We know he is going to draculas), Willow and Kennedy leave for Brazil to train a small batch of slayers who are trainging to be witches as well. And over the course of the film we will see how they have come to season eight, mostly. At the end we will flash forward to Buffy and some slayers rob different banks over England.

After i wrote that film my last Buffy film wil be set in the futire when Buffy is in her forties, she has retired and has let a new slayer run command central, when all the slayers, except Buffy and Faith loose their powers, they have to go back to the slaying and destroy whatever has taken their powers away from the slayers.

I havent gone into much detail about the last film because:
-I've got a while until i start that
-I want to see how After The Fall and Season Eight go until i wright anything that is going to contradict something else.

So what plots would you like to see for a Buffy Films?

A small idea for a Buffy movie: Buffy and the gang split from all the newly made slayers, and send some people like Andrew or Robin to train them. Meanwhile, she finds Spike's alive, and Angel has broken away from W&H. Some bad guy comes, and both gangs reunite to fight them. Yeah, it would contradict everything that happened in Ats s5, BtVS s8, and Ats: After The Fall, but who gives a crap!?

I would be mad if it contradicted established canon.

I know, I was just expressing what I wished would happen and happened over previous seasons to go along with it If they made a movie and it didn't follow Ats s5's crappy plot, then I'd me mad, just because Joss made that; it's part of the televised series! You can't just erase it. Season 8, on the other hand....

I'd love to see some kinda momorial held to honnor the fallen heroes. I'd also like to see Dawn training to fight, I think with her current crazyness in the comics, we havn't seen any real Dawn.

I would LOVE to see her training with Kennedy and the other potentials.

I agree with lee. Bring back the Master. I'd kill to see a proper Buffy vs. The Master fight, rather than the tame one on the Sunnydale Library roof. It should be like The Gang vs. Glory or Uber-Buffy vs. Adam. The Master was so underrated.

Also, no Spike. Get more Xander/Andrew geekiness (the only thing Andrew's good for), make Dawn less whiny, Buffy slightly less bitchy than she appeared to get towards the end, and ya gotta have Faith.

Well Joss himself did say that he would drop what was written in the comics if it meant he could get a Buffy movie off the ground.

So If Joss isn't all that fussed, I don't think it should hamper you either.

People are reading toof ar into what Joss said. He only said he would drop the comics story if they made a movie and the script couldnt work well into the season eight story line. If it could fit into the storyline he would keep the season eight comics as canon.

Basically he was saying that the comics weren't 'fixed' canon.

That under the right circumstances (ie if they stood in the way of getting a money making live action project off the ground) their existing storylines could be changed.

                    So they're flexible.

I can't help but giggle at the pining, wistful hope that this actually comes up, but I tend to think Joss is smart enough to not go *looking* for that kind of situation to arise. Indeed, there is every reason to assume at this point that he is putting *zero* energy into trying to get a Buffy feature off the ground. Since he already has a TV show going, already has a money-making Buffy venture going, and knows that his actors are all over the map (and that he'd need a script before there'd even be anything to talk about with his star), why would this come up?

The topic itself (or rather, the Paley quote quasi-hijack of it) wouldn't exist if not for some folk's need to find a moral victory in a completely moot remark by Joss that doesn't effect the here-and-now canon status of Season 8 in the least bit.

Beardo, do you write these for your own entertainment, or is your hope that Fox and/or Joss will want to develop it? My own guess is that even if Joss were to get his hands on it, he'd probably have to pass on any script that depowered the Slayers permanently. Whatever controversy it created for the way it was carried out, he's obviously very proud of using that as a general message of female empowerment through spreading the Slayer powers around, and he wouldn't roll it back (or if he was going to, it would have happened in "Wolves at the Gate").

Are you familiar with "Fray"? Joss' comic mini-series about a new Slayer a few hundred years in the future, after an extended period of no magic, no demons, no vampires? If you wanted to take a swing, *that* might be something a movie could get made out of. In fact, just a straight adaptation of the mini-series into a feature would be fantastic. It really is one of the best stories Joss has ever written.

I'm writing them to get my writing skills better. I'm interetes in Fray and i might just start doing an adaptation of the comic, but for now iw nat to finsh these Buffy films. Who knows, in years to come, when Buffy is long gone and Joss is old and out of the job, i might be making a buffy film, that's if my future in tv production, writing and directing picks up.

I imagine a TV movie would be easier to get a green light for and easier for Joss to control.

I can see two that would attract me:

                          1) Buffy has lost her Slayer power owing to a betrayal by Willow, and has a vertical climb up the cliff face to get back on top of the situation.

                          2) Buffy vs Faith, with Giles backing Faith with view to displacing Buffy and using Faith,he hopes, to regain control in the name of the Council.

The great thing would be to keep them tight and fast moving, and have no meandering so that everybody who ever appeared in the TV series has a cameo. I would also appreciate it if the whole Season 8 scenario could be consigned to the Alternative History Department.

Item of irrelevant information for the King.
Queen Elizabeth, the late mother of the present Queen , was known as Buffy when she was a child. She grew up in a Scottish castle in the early 1900s.

Oh I doubt a movie will ever get made myself, as I've said on many occasions, so I for one am not "pining" for anything.

Although I could see a total reboot of the franchise years down the line. Maybe afresh new young cast playing the same roles, or a kind of 'Buffy the next generation' with a new cast playing totally new characters, but set in the Buffyverse.

Well i doubt that would happen seeing as all magics etc disappear according to what Fray is told and no slayers are called. Unless they just do a Fray Tv Series, which would be quite good i think.
Another one of my ideas for a buffyverse TV series was a Tales of The Slayers Series. It would follow the adventures of three slayers. One past, one present, one future (Fray).

To be honest I think that if a spin off was on the cards and money was to be made that Joss wouldn't let that get in the way of getting it done.

Actually, Sue's right, a canon reboot years off is the most likely live-action scenario. It would be bittersweet, though, because the Buffyverse really set itself apart on television, before heavily serialized shows were cool, as being this canon-intensive, self-referential series.

And it would probably have to be a *real* long while. Take "Star Trek" -- 41 years have gone by in a much less canon-intensive universe before they've actually done a recast, quasi-reboot (this year's JJ Abrams "Star Trek" movie).

I'd rather see Fray as a feature film than a TV series, though -- the original story is basically perfectly drawn and paced to be adapted into a feature film, and it would give the Buffyverse a film franchise. There's every reason to think it could really hit -- look at the box office for the Blade movies, Underworld movies, 30 Days of Night, etc.

quick question... and i'm sorry if i'm being simple. But, how can they relocate to Giles' house if his house was in Sunnydale, and Sunnydale, well isn't there anymore?

The fact that Giles has a house in England might be the reason, we sore him there in Lessons when Willow was there. When he came to Sunnydale in season seven he was staying with Buffy wasn't he? If he wasn't he would have been at a motel.

how about Buffy having children? maybe in a 'premonition' or magic spell of some sort, she sees her future, or what one possible future could entail. and then has to fight some big bad to allow that to happen. i think she should be a bit selfish.
