  • Most Annoying Villians..

(Hopefully I'm not making too many threads..slow day here at work, and hopefully this isn't a dupe)

Just one (loose) rule: Can't be a flavor of the week monster, has to be someone that's been in at least two episodes, unless you REALLY hate them

    For me? Darla and Warren..

Darla, I can't really put my finger on it, just hated her character, and Warren, well, for some reason he just looks annoying, coupled with his attitude and how he treats women..just can't stand him.

Also, now that I'm thinking about it, Amy and Rack were intolerable as well.

For me, The First, by far. Idiot, not threatening, "oh look, it taunts!", is dumb, not corporeal, does nothing, idiot...wait, did I already say that? Yeah, there are numerous reasons it's dumb. It was like Buffy was trying to be epic, but failed miserably. It was much more epic in, say, Seasons 3 and 5. The First was just lame.

TokyoMonster, that opinion of Darla is weird, for me, after seeing flashbacks in Angel.

I agree about the first. As far as Darla goes, I haven't seen Angel yet, so maybe I'm missing out on some decent character development.

I didn't hate Adam, and I liked how every merged together captain planet style to make Buffy a super slayer, but he wasn't a favorite villian.

Oh yeah, thanks for that, I hated the annointed one. He was worst than the first as far as actual damage dealt goes..the kid did nothing but look creepy.

You are That's all I can say to not spoil you.

Yeah, I didn't hate him. He could've been executed much better, but he didn't suck, and I like the way he connected with Riley. Would've been better had he not killed Maggie, too.

After some episodes, Glory started to annoy me. But The First was the worst, he could be so epic but it was a awful executed bad guy without a person, humor, scary moments or anything memorable since Amends.

Aww Man Drusilla IMO was one of the best and one of the reasons why I love season 2.

But the worst are: Adam- Just plain Annoying and Stupid.
The Judge was a waste of time, I hated that one
The first wasnt my favorite either.

For me 'The First' wins hands down. One of the most useless, badly thought out 'waste of spaces' that every graced the show. Utterly helped ruin season 7 for me really. Oh that and the flaming Potentials of course.

I agree that The First Evil in Season 7 was the most useless and even more boring than Glory.

C.S.Lewis in The Screwtape Letters shows that evil is not an independent, autonomous force. Evil is parasitic, which is to say that it is every normal impulse for food, money, sex, position, exaggerated and deformed so as to become destructive.

That was why the Mayor was so good. He was recognizable with aims which we could understand, but with a psychopathic indifference to as how he got them. (I am not clear why he wanted to be a big snake however. Was it necessary?)

A good villain should be attractive as well being morally threatening. He should be a temptation as much as a danger. He should elicit sympathy like a version of the Christian devil, appearing as a beautiful and sad young man saying, "I am the lonely one, the rejected one. Won't you be my friend?"

                        Adam: Sucked so hard.
The First: Could've been awesome (See CWDP) but became USELESS.
Yeah, those would be the two.

Darla from Buffy and The Anointed One come to mind. The Anointed One cause he's pretty useless and Darla because they spoiled her character, as Angel's sire, she deserved more.

I would have to say The Trio. All three of them were like annoying dogs who wont stop humping your leg. They were always there and a lot of the time it was they were just there for comical relief. Besides Warren, killing Tara. I always wanted Tara to die by someone else, if that makes since. Warren and Tara really had no connection, probably why a lot of people liked her death.......... I just didnt like the Trio.

The First. Thought it was pretty great in 'Amends' but it was terrible in season seven.

I also really found Warren annoying as well, couldn't stand his voice or mannerisms at all.

And in general I wasn't a big fan of The Trio. I'm not as geeky as them and didn't find a lot of their geeky jokes all that funny, I found the plots surrounding them rather lame and like my bad guys to actually pose a real threat. In general they never really were intended to, so it was pretty much a waste of time having to sit through their useless plans that were often played just for laughs.

                                Among "high-profile" villains...

                                1) Adam
                                .

                                .
                                .
                                2) The First
                                3) The Anointed One
                                4) The Judge

(set made by Francy for me)

I didn't like Adam for two reasons
                                  1. too monotonous
                                  2. was often the sub-plot that distracted the episodes from from the main plot (ie. "This Year's Girl," "Who Are You?", "Superstar")

I didn't like Warren because he was just downright annoying. There was absolutely nothing appealing about him, unlike Jonathan and Andrew who, although they too were annoying, had layers to them that made me sympathize them.

I actually like the first, I think it was meant to be a more psychologically damaging demon that a physical one............obviously........ with it being incorporeal and all.

Adam was the worst in my opinion, he basically did what the first did, which was get other demons to do his bidding. Except Adam was fully capable of doing things himself, he had the strength, the brains everything! But he just wound up seeming like a lazy villain in my eyes and didn't do anything remotely threatening except kill a child, and that was handled in a "Look, Adam's a bad thing!" way. Maggie Walsh was supposed to be the big bad, they were clearly setting her up for it, and it would have been very interesting to see what they would do with her, but unfortunately she decided to leave
Hence Frankencrap being the rushed replacement.

The Gorch Brothers were useless too, but I've already rambled on that subject in the 'worst episodes' thread.

Quite! Also, its hair stood straight up (when it was Warren it did anyway). The First was a joke in season 3 - "I get it, you're evil, do we have to keep talking about it all day?". It should've stayed that way. Boo!

I didn't like the Trio as villians. I liked Andrew in season 7, but with Warren and Jonathon I hated them. I like my villians to be supernatural in make up. I know they knew some magic and weren't totally unintelligent (Andrew with his languages and Warren with his robots and so on) but i want scary other wordly stuff as my villians. I didn't like the first too much, it was a good idea in theory and it may have worked better as a Wolfram and Hart continual villian with season 7 it coming into his own. If it was going to use people ala Caleb, I'd have preferred it give more that kind of power, maybe Caleb and two others, with the UberVamps as the seconds and the Bringers as the lackeys.
