  • What about Xander?

    Hello

I love Xander, I really do. He was our funny scoobie. But what about his relationships? Was he lucky in that? We all know that he had 2 main relationships: One of them was Anya and the other one was Cordelia. My first question is which one really belonged to Xander: Anya or Cordelia?

    And..

What do you love about him? I really love that he finds a funny part of everything. He can also be serious if necessary.

I would so say ANYA!! They were so beloned eachother. They were very cute and a funny couple that I really loved and cared about.

So what are your thoughts about him and his relationships?

I think he belonged to Anya, they almost went all the way before he got cold feet. I think he really loved Anya, but he cared about Cordelia.
But he allways seems to screw up with women, weather its cheating, or runing away.

I don't really love Xander, well, at least not right now. He has this annoying theme to his personality. He's just there. On occasion he helps and come up with fantastic ideas, But he can be very annoying and very... Blah!

We've got a Xander club, also

The correct answer is Buffy, actually Between just those two, though, I preferred his relationship with Cordelia.

Out of the relationships he's actually had, Cordelia was the most intriguing. Their bickering and love/hate angle was very fun to watch. I think there are several moments, particularly from Cordelia, which confirm that they were more than just a fling, too. I was actually disappointed that there was no reuniting in season 3, but it worked out for the best... for Cordy, anyway. She got a great role on Angel. Xander just got screwed over like a forgotten little bitch in the later seasons of Buffy, which was sad.

I think Xander got the better deal, actually. Cordelia may have gotten a bigger role, but her character got unrecognizable in Season 3 of Angel (and Season 4, but at least that was done for plot purposes). "You're Welcome" was a fair attempt at cleaning the mess, but some people still viewed it as too little too late.

Between Xander/Anya and Xander/Cordelia, I used to think I preferred Xander/Anya, but I'm rewatching the series and loving Xander/Cordelia to bits, so I'll get back to you.

I find Xander/Cordelia way more fun and interesting, I think Cordelia is a better match for Xander. Anya was someone Xander had to take care of, she didn't know her way in a human world and just clung to Xander to help her fit in. They could've had a wonderful storyline but then they were just comic relief. I'm glad they broke up because then they got much interesting.

I prefer Xander without a girlfriend, hopefully he'll stay that way in S8.

I don't think that one of the two really belongs to Xander. Anya was the most serious relationship. Cordelia was a highshool sweethart. But I don't think they were both right for him, I still hope that there will be a nice girl for him somewere, somebody who loves him and you know ... not just his penis. I think that Xander and Cordelia could have worked if they had met eachother in season 3 of Ats or something.

                And..

What do you love about him?
I love his loyalty, he never left the 'good' side. I love the fact that he is the 'normal' scooby ... and that he is okay with that. In the end, I think he is the strongest.

So what are your thoughts about him and his relationships?
I loved his relation with Cordy. They were sweet and funny. I liked that is was a 'normal' relation. I also like the fact that they are both demonmagnets. It's funny ... maybe it's a sign?

Anya I liked, she was funny and a little light in the darkness in the evil UPN years. But I hated her as Xander's girlfriend. She was so hard on him, and she was hurting him a lot I think. I would hate it if my beau would tell my friend everything about my sexlife and other problems. Cordelia was harsh, but Anya was almost cruel.

What a good support of your thoughts! I even started to think that you're right. I also think that neither of them really belonged to him but what love about Anya/Xander was they were more instinctive and sincere maybe. but I loved the chemistry between Xander and Cordelia. Cordy was a sweetheart yes, and they were quite nice together. Maybe off the subject but I really didn't understand why didn't the writers do anything about Cordy's departure in Graduation. At least there should have been a "bye" to Xander.

I do respect Cordelia, after she saw Xander and Willow kissing, she had a pride, self-respect and she stopped her relationship with Xander.

I would also hate if my dear tell our personal stuff to others but that's her character and we can't do anything. Anya was a demon and that's what she is really.. But still love them

Xander didn't belong with Cordy, I think it was merely a way of intergrating her with the scoobies for a while because before she had no reason to but during that relationship she did. Xander belonged with Anya, they loved each other (And his penis ) to bit. Even after he left her at the alter they still tried to fix things up and still loved each other, towards the end even patching up their relationship. After Cordy left she never even tried to talk to Xander (At least on the Buffy series, I don't know about Angel. Anyone know if she ever mentioned him on Angel?)

The only known contact is between Giles-Wesley and Cordelia/Fred-Willow.
But there was also no contact between Angel and Buffy onscreen, but we know that there was communication.

Cordelia mentions Xander in season one of Ats, saying she'd sworn to herself never to date a 'fixerupper' (sp?) again when speaking about Doyle.

We did have some on screen communication between Buffy and Angel. We see them in 'IWRY,' 'Sanctuary' 'The Yoko Factor' 'Forever' 'End of Days' and 'Chosen.' And had at least one off screen meet up inbetween 'Flooded' and 'Fredless.'

We also know that Giles and Angel have communicated in 'Pangs' 'Five by Five' and 'Shells.'

Oh I did forget the mention of Xander in season 1.

True about the communication, but I was more going for the regular telephone/email/letter communication. But you're right.
