  • The very last episode!!If you were Joss Whedon...

What do you think of the very last episode? Should it be better? What could have been done to the very last episode? In the end, Buffy says I love you to Spike... What would you do to this scene, if you were Joss Whedon? OR what would you do to Angel? Let him to stay with Buffy and fight?? OR what would you do to Spike? Would you let him die to save the world??

    Think, answer and discuss....

I think it's moot, since the story is still ongoing in Season 8

I wouldn't have done "Chosen" any differently based on the Season that had taken place, but I would have done the season itself much, much differently, so "Chosen" would probably have been different as a result.

One thing about "Chosen" would probably be not to use Angel as a guest-star if he is only there as a mcguffin, providing the amulet and exposition. I mean, aside from the 'shippy part of it. But if you're going to have him there, have it mean something more to the plot.

I would have left the spliff-smoking scene in there. And I wouldn't have had quite so many ubervamps?also seemed a little ridiculous that normal humans were able to fight them. Perhaps would've just had normal humans versus bringers.

Like KoC, I would've lost the Angel bit. Just felt tacked on. And I would've made it more necessary for Spike to stay to the end ? as it was, it seemed like him dying was a bit pointless as all the ubervamps were already dead long before he burned up! Unless the point was that he was just showing off?

Also like KoC, I would've changed the whole (or much of) season 7 rather than necessarily changing just Chosen.

I would have had Angel stay for the fight. Or maybe have Buffy phone him or something to still warn him. Cause I liked the moment where she had to get him to leave and set up a second front. I would have made the episode 2 hours, and then somehow get some of the Angel cast in there as well. I think if it had been done right, it could have worked.

I would have cut down some of the Spike stuff, sorry I know people like him, but I felt he just had a bit too much pointlessness. Would have had him live, cause his death was 100% meaningless except for destroying Sunnydale.

For Willow I would have had Tara visit her XD. I know its a real Tarafan thing to say, but it would have worked having Tara being with Willow for the spell for that full transition.

Agree about less ubervamps. It took Buffy a smack down, leaving her bruised and bloody just to stop one, yet the new slayers, and even reg humans (Anya cut up three in a heart beat) were able to stake them (even though they had rock like skin...).

More Xander/Dawn. They had like one fight scene, but again time restraint. So a two hour episode would have opened up the First to take more forms, even maybe get Kendra back. Also making the First comporial to fight Buffy would have been interesting... some how... Like taking the form of Kendra.

So much of what happens in Chosen is as a result of other things set down earlier in the season that some retcons would be needed but:

Less slayers vs less vamps but with maybe a ticking clock that would unleash the vast army if something doesn't intervene. Sort of vamps now with the threat of more vamps later.

I would also like a physical enemy for Buffy to take on in the battle, someone identifiable from the sea of vamps (i.e Caleb) the fact that the first cant physically hurt Buffy takes away from they're direct confrontation.

I'll have to have a think about the rest.

I'd also agree that Angel only seems to be there to have Angel there. He soesn't really do all that much. If we keep him in he needs to join the fight.

There's alot of things I would have change as a last episode... But since the series is moving on in comics, it doesn't really apply.. But there's one thing I would have.. Bring Tara back.. I just really wanted her back in the last episode.. But maybe in season 8.. (not a spoiler. just a wish)

Sorry to be late for answering Spuffbeste! Firstly I'd have put a kissing scene between Spike&Buffy absolutely!! but not in the 'I love you' scene..so that's my theory:

-Buffy rans to the bus..then catches it. After getting out Of Sunnydale, when they look there, suddenly Spike comes out with his everytime-coat, which he uses to hide from sun. Then in the bus, they have a short convertsation then kiss=) how about that?

I agree with you. It would be more meaningful for Will to do a spell with Tara. Because they had been arguing about magic stuff and this spell made Will to some kind of angel when you look her apperance. So it would be more meaningful if we look from this side.

                  Great idea,Leonardo!!

I would have had the Scythe explained differently in an earlier episode. My concept is that the Scythe gives Buffy the chance to activate a certain amount of potentials instead of every single one in the world. For example, ten potentials out of Buffy's army are selected by Buffy to become fully fledged Slayers.

My reason for the above is mostly Dawn. Dawn was originally training to become a Slayer, before the potentials were introduced. When Joyce appears to Dawn in "Conversations with Dead People" she warns her that when its bad, Buffy won't choose her. It would have been nice if Dawn was a potential but not Chosen by Buffy when she was given the option.

The final reason for my finale alteration is that Buffy could have actually of let the other ten Slayers take over and protect the world. She could of lived as a person and not had to worry about the fate of the world, ?cos there'd be ten other girls doing that. Instead these days she has to worry about organising thousands and thousands of Slayers.

Though my idea appeals to me more, I am perfectly happy with the television series finale that Joss delivered. As a fan fiction writer I read in to the potential of stories too much is all.

More Xander. If that means no Angel, then so be it. I believe Kennedy, Faith and Wood got more spotlight in the final episode than Xander, which is... holy crap. I know they were potentially setting up a Faith spinoff with the Faith/Wood stuff, but it still is what it is. Meanwhile, Willow is now a goddess. Come on! Give those of us who still care about the guy as one of the original three SOMETHING.

Yeah I agree. SMG had the same problems apparently, she wanted more Xander in the final and wanted it to be two hours long. Too bad she didn't get her way earlier in the season as well, as one of the reasons she lobbied for Bander was to give Nick B some more screetime. She felt he deserved it, and he did. But the lack of Xander in 'Chosen' was a complete joke. He should have been put before Kennedy, Faith/Wood stuff, Angel and Spike as someone deserving of screen time. He's been there from the start.

Same goes for Giles as well, and to some extent Anya. Anya was used horribly after 'Sefless' getting nearly no screentime at all and Giles' screentime in 'Chosen' was a joke. They should have had more of Giles and Xander, and more Buffy/Giles interaction as well. The look and smile was good, but the two had so much history together, a lot more than either Buffy/Angel or Buffy/Spike and the fact some good conversation between these two didn't happen as a result of shipping, pisses me off.

Angel would have stayed and fought by Buffy's side. The potentials would have been pushed so far back into the background, from the start of the season, that it wouldn't be an issue in Chosen.

We would have had 75% of the scenes revolving around Buffy and the core four, with Oz returning to assist in the fight at the end, he could have come with Angel. Kennedy wouldn't have existed.
Dru, reeking of humanity just like Spike presoul, would have returned to help Spike, she would have saved him in the end. Much like the scene of her carrying him out of the ashes in WML.

Like everyone else, I would have changed the entire focus of season 7. All the Bads would have returned for the smaller battles before the big bang at the end.

Whosoever Shall Call Upon the Name of the Lord Shall Be Saved!

Hmm.. I kinda would have liked Angel to fight with them, but I love his walk away just like in Welcome to the Hellmouth, and the "sometimes is something"... Actually I think I would have had more Angel in the 2nd last ep, rather then just 1min or so. Would have been more satisfying when he leaves in Chosen.
And yeah, more Xander and Giles.. but I don't want to part with any of the scenes! It just needed to be longer.

Ive read alot about some of the idea's SMG had for the show and for te most part i agree with her. I cant help but think Seasons 6 and 7 would have been better if SMG was incharge as i think she understood what the audience wanted.

Firstly, it would have been two hours long.

I agree about the less Ubervamps. They probably should of had at least one potential go with each team, or just the few that escaped run towards Xander and Dawn, since the used sunlight to kill a few of them. Which would have been more realistic.

I would have spent less time with the shippy-ness. The Bangel and Spuffy was too long. It's kind of funny how the Bander scene was shortest, and contained no words, but still summed their relationship up.

I would probably have cutout the Dungeons and Dragons scene with Giles, Xander, Andrew, Amanda, and Anya. It was funny, but I think it'd be a better deleted scene, and the room it left for the episode could have been used for something else.

Anya's death. It's not that see died, but the fact that a Bringer cut right through her like it was nothing. I really don't think a Bringer is strong enough to cut the way it did.

I would have probably saved Caleb for Buffy to fight in the hellmouth, possible turning him into something big a scary.

You know, I'm just not sure. I do like the ep, I think the show ended well, but like others I really would have like to see more of Xander & Giles. However, I do like the little bit w/ the four of them, as they walk away Giles' comment the "The world is doomed." .... makes me grin, since it's a flashback to the premier ep.

Okay, sorry, back on track here....um, I wouldn't have had Angel stay to fight, no matter how much I love having him around, but I think the fact that he was needed to set up a second front was a good point. I would have probably found a way to keep him around for a little longer than he was, though... 2 hours -- definite change...would have given much more time for all the missing aspects and the story wouldn't have felt so crammed into the ep...
                                  It's blood...It's just like mine.
It doesn't matter where you came from or how you got here.

I too Wouldve Made it 2 Hours, I like Spike But Less of Spuffy- shipping, and Wouldve Got the cast of angel Involved somehow.

I love this scene, it sorta takes you back to 1997 when the show premiered. But to get back on topic. I think I wouldve Ended the Series with that Line, The four of them talking about what they were going to do now that they saved the world again and Closed the Hellmouth, Giles Remarking "The world is Doomed" and then closing with Buffy Smiling while looking at the Crater.

I would have done a little more with the core group of characters Buffy/Willow/Xander/Giles. They had a very quick and nice moment in the school before the battle, but they are what made this show so great and I would just have liked to see a little more of that classic interaction and banter between just the 4 of them.

And maybe not in this episode necessarily, but I wish Oz had come back at some point in season 7.
