Favourite Ship?

So I was wondering what is the ultimate ship? Which couple do we the great and good of BuffyForums like the most in the whole of the slayerverse?

There are so many combinations that I thought it was best if we stuck to the canon ships, i.e. what we saw on screen (or in the season 8 comic, although there haven't been any yet)

I always have a tough time deciding on my complete favourite, as I can see the benefits in all of them, but being the old romantic that I am I would have to go for Bangel, but I also love Woz and Fresley.

Well what I meant is couples that we know actually had a relationship, rather than something that was suggested. If that was the case there would've been Angel/Spike from S5 as well! Also, I was gonna include the "flings" (Buffy/Parker, Angel/Nina, Giles/Olivia) but there wasn't room - hence "Other"

Oh and guys, not to be a huge moaning minnie or anything, but one line answers are considered spam. Please at least include why you love that ship so much!

I was hoping that the poll would be the kind I could pick more than one and it was which makes it a lot easier for someone like me who simply can't decide. I could easily tell you ships I disliked or hated but it is a lot harder to think of the ones I do like, least of all picking a favourite.

I chose;

Wilah: I just think this relationship is one of the best in the Buffyverse. I love the way Lilah and Wes play off eachother, I just love the whole dialouge between them in each scene that they are in. What I also love is how both of them understand what the relationship is and understand eachother perfectly. I loved how Lilah understood Wes had a thing for Fred, how she understood that Wes did on some level want to change or save her but at the same time understood that he didn't love her. I loved how Wes was always honest towards Lilah about his feelings, the two didn't hide anything from eachother. I also love how Lilah did little favours for Wes, in her own way she did care, like when she didn't have the sucking demon kill Lorne because he was a friend of Wesleys.

Xanderlia: Xander and Cordelia just rock togther. I loved how funny they could be, how steadily the relationship changed Cordy for the best and how she stood up to her friends when she realised what Xander meant to her. I just loved when they'd squabble and when you'd see the sweet moments between them, like when Cordy brought him donuts or had pictures of him up in her locker and when Xander bought Cordy her prom dress.

Agreed, and good point: why I love Tillow- look, to be honest, part of the reason is because they are that lesbian couple on TV. I had heard that Willow was going to be dating a woman, and I was really interested in how it would be portrayed, and I loved it. I thought they portrayed the relationship beautifully and especially in terms of the minimal focus that was put on the fact they were two girls. (Yes, some focus, like Xander's dream sequence, Willow's coming out almost accidently to Giles, but these were realistic factors.) I thought Amber Benson and Alyson Hannigan were lovely and sweet together, I liked that neither was butch, and I liked the relative calm that characterised most of their relationship, and how it was underpinned by passion that coloured their characters and drove them places when they broke up, and that their love was strong enough that Tara could develop on her own and then get to a point to rekindle the relationship.

Why I love Bangel- I didn't, you know... not 'til 'The Prom'. Then I wept like a baby...

Also, yes, Wilah. So good it's bad, or the other way 'round?! I mean, if Wes can't be with Angel... lol

I love Willow/Tara the most. They were the best couple. They spent time alot and got to know eachother well. It was pretty sad that they weren't together as Tara felt and wasn't really happn that Willow was getting carried away with her magic. It was good to have them back together right near the end of season 6 before Tara got shot. I miss Tara alot though. It was good to have her around.

Not really much of a Willow/Kennedy cuople fan...they were an alright couple. I don't think they would last long together.. . As stated in that season 8 comic, they are taking the relationship slowly for now...it seems like that Kennedy doesn't like to be touched by magic or isn't fond of it that well. I remember that she didn't like it when Willow used some of her energy for that spell to open the portal to get Buffy back.

Buffy/Riley - (ducks tomatoes) I enjoy how they both learned things from their relationships, and both characters developed, even after the de facto relationship, ...plus there wasn't much schmaltz. Riley learned not to trust the government, he learned to become his own person rather than Agent Finn. Buffy learned not to shut herself out, which helped out later in The Gift. Neither intentionally hurt the other, there was no all-encompassing angst or cheese. Again, I don't like relationships that block out everything else that happens. These ones that I like are mostly not the main focus of the show while they exist, but are still very important.

Willow/Tara - See above re: no cheese, no deafening angst. They were excellent foils for each other, bringing each other out of their self-hating shells. With the other's help they both grew strong. In season 5, we got to see how much Willow really loved Tara. s6, vice versa in Tabula Rasa and Entropy. It was sweet but not to the point of being sickly. The way it was a quiet, private relationship, not thrown in our faces, but happy, healthy and had growth for both characters nonetheless, is what makes it my favorite on the show.

Willow/Kennedy - (ducks rocks and bullets) Willow needed someone to help her overcome her fear. Kennedy was bold and brazen, but that was pretty much what Willow needed to gather the strength to actually perform the spell in "Chosen." Throwing aside that there were already too many metaphors in the show itself comparing Kennedy to an inanimate object, I like to think of Kennedy as scaffolding (you know, for the space shuttle) - standing tall and supporting Willow. In season 7, everything was all squashed together and there was no time for the relationship to be about anything but Willow. I admire Kennedy for her perseverance and loyalty - side note, little moment in Chosen, Willow and Kennedy are supporting each other out of the school like in the last scene of The Gift. Underneath the Kennedy we see most of the time, she does truly care and love Willow, and there's some of the sweetness we saw in Willow/Tara - it's just dwarfed by the upcoming apocalypse and Kennedy needing to push Willow to the limit of her strength. However, I didn't like the fact that Willow seemed to forget about Tara; that was something that wasn't addressed after TKIM and as Willow faced her worst fear, there was no mention of Tara at all. 's as though Tara's memory left in TKIM and Willow, well, forgot it was ever there after the final "tea" scene.
There was not much time for the relationship to develop in season 7 but it has seriously great, um, potential (groan...I couldn't find another word that fit...). It'll be interesting to see what Joss does with this in the s8 comic besides making tongue-in-cheek yet canon references to Kennedy dying, just because half the audience wanted it anyway.

Buffy and angel is the truest, but i loved buffy and spike but i dont think it would of lasted long really, Spike and drusilla, i think they were the best evil couple of buffy series,I loved fresly they were a ment to be together couple i think, and it was heartbreaking to watch when they started dating and then she died

I voted Bangel probably because I'm old like Angel In the Jossverse I love Buffy the most and I love those who loved her and made her happy. At least for a time she was a happy girl because of Angel. Buffy was like a woman on death row so a few months of happiness meant a lot in her life. What they had was too intense to be ignored.

I liked Xandelia too for what they gave each other. Cordelia gave Xander some self-confidence. Whenever I watch these two, I think of the song " I never dreamed someone like you could want someone like me.." Xander changed Cordelia too. It was with Xander that Cordelia found there was this woman of substance inside her that would eventually turn her into a stylish champion.

I'll proably go for the Spike/Dru and Angel/Darla. or if i can have it my way...mix and match....with the addition of Faith/Spike...only becuase to me their love was real, painfull,hard to understand, on and off...and just...my thing.

But if i wanna go soft. it's Oz and Willow. because that was all human and Oz rocks.

Can you really call it a ship though without the relation-ship. Faith tossed Xander straight out, perhaps your correct but I'm not exactly sure how one properly defines a ship. Some correct me if I'm wrong though.

I guess your right. If that can be considered a ship I guess Xander/Buffy and most certainly Faith/Xander and Willow/Xander could be classified as a ship to. Notedly, all three of those are particular faves of mine as well, perhaps I should have chose 'other' instead

I don't see Spander there, it is upsetting. I'd vote for that ship.
