  • Favorite Ship! The Ultimate Poll!

Well, we have to know...who is our favorite ship of the Jossverse? Inquiring minds want to know and debate!

I have many ships that I love, but to vote for just one, it has to be Spuffy! (On Ats, I would go with Fresley... )

So who is your favorite ship? Is it one of the ones listed above, or is it some off-the wall ship that I didn't think to include? Let us know!

      Xander/Cordelia

They're not romantically cheesy and both of them are snarky and witty, it makes the relationship much more interesting to watch, besides when they have a romantic moment it becomes extra cute because their romantic moments are quite rare

Bangel..forever and always. Sorry, but I grew up with the show. From the beginning to the end. Always loved Bangel and when Angel left to go to LA I was heartbroken. I enjoyed watching the antics between Spike and Buffy but no matter what arguement someone gives me I will always see Angel and Buffy together.
Seems I couldn't vote twice, I have to say that Wesley and Fred are my favorite couple that never really got a chance. The stuffy, shy British guy and the babbling science geek...they would have made the cutest couple. Regrettably we never got to see much of that relationship. One of the few flaws in the Jossverse.

I would say a greater flaw is bringing about the relationship by making Fred suddenly see Wes in a romantic way overnight, with no development, and no prior indications! Or that Cangel never got a real chance....

But yeah, obviously Cangel is my OTP, I just find them to be the most well-developed, natural, and, as KoC put it on another thread, "organic" relationship in the Jossverse. I love friendships-->something more (except for Bander, for some reason), and think that as close of a friendship as Cangel had was a perfectly goo "foundation for future bliss".

I love how Cordy and Angel slowly grew closer and closer over the course of the seasons, and how they changed one another for the better, bringing out the best in each other--Angel made Cordy a more serious, caring, and selfless person, while Cordy made Angel lighten up a bit and feel more of a part of the human world--as Doyle once said, "She can have a very humanizing influence." I love how it's a more subtle and gradual development, not *BAM* Love at first sight! I love how they interact, how Cordy keeps Angel fighting the good fight, and refuses to let him sulk and brood when there's work to be done; how she gets him "back on track" in YW, and how she's the only one who dares to go see Angel after the kidnapping and comfort him. How Angel knows Cordy better than anyone, and vice versa (at that point). How both would put the other's life before themself and do anything for the other person (especially that CORDY would do that, given where she came from! I love it!).

I love how much they need each other as well, how much Angel misses her when she's gone and the lengths he goes to get back into her good graces when she's mad at him at the end of season 2. Just the way in which Cordy is Angel's connection to the world in general (TSILA). The way he smiles at her, even back on BTVS, when she was able to make him laugh, when he rarely did so back on BTVS. I love Angel's dreams and fantasies about her, how protective he is of her, and how he goes crazy when she's in trouble or danger (such as when she's sucked into Pylea, or bitten by Darla). I love his tender and sorrowful kiss on the forehead in TMB. I love how they fall in love with each other on the show, when in the beginning you'd never expect them to do so. I just love this couple so much, and I hate how they were never given the chance to be with one another, or more than one real kiss--it's such a travesty and a shame.

Lol, sorry for the ode, but I couldn just go on....I'm not saying that Cangel is the only couple to have all of these aspects, but all of these aspects combined with others unique to Cangel is why I love them so much together!

I also love Spuffy, which is my fave BTVS ship, as well as many of the other ships listed, with my other faves being Wilah, Frunn, Xanya, Tillow, Xandelia, and Bangel (seasons 1-3). I also like Willoz alright--btw, LRae, that's how you abbreviate W/O, it's Willoz. I pretty much like most ships in the Jossverse.....but Cangel most of all!
Promise that you'll return to me.

I've got a tie between Buffy/Riley and Willow/Tara. These seemed to me like the healthiest relationships and the ones that had the most potential. Unfortunately because of circumstances both of them ended, and both of them had their problems, but these were overcome (about a minute too late for one) and it seemed as though they were stable, caring relationships. You could tell Riley cared about Buffy, Willow and Tara cared about each other, and Buffy really did care about Riley to the extent that she knew she could - but she did not know the entirety of what she was doing to him, treating him as a rebound. Also, both Buffy/Riley and Tara/Willow were built up realistically, in a way that hurt none of them, and as humans they were able to have a future together and be happy.

Since we could only vote for one option and Ruffy was not listed I voted for Tillow. I also enjoy Xanya, and perhaps Bander if it's realistic and doesn't ruin the tight friendship of the Scoobies.
Buffy: It sounds like it's difficult for you. Maybe your sister makes it hard for you to establish your own identity. You said she's controlling, she doesn't let you make your own decisions -
Dawn: Yeah, and she borrows my clothes without asking.

I am a Spuffy, as most people know by now. Nothing fictional will ever top the love I had/have for Spuffy. I don't like Spuffy for their actual relationship in season 6...for me Spuffy is the whole journey from School Hard to Chosen, step after step, development after development, with its ugly moments and its beautiful moments. It's amazing to me to remember where they started, and see where they ended. It wasn't easy, but they made it possible together!

Wow, then you need to pay closer attention...Fred started to see Wes in a romantic light in Lineage, which was episode 7! Smile Time was what, episode 14? So it wasn't overnight. She started seeing him that way with his statement "I killed him because he pointed the gun at you Fred" and you could actually see Fred having the lightbulb moment!

Plus for someone who's so gaga over You're Welcome () how could you miss the way Fred practically was drooling over Wesley when he was performing that spell?

btw, LRae, that's how you abbreviate W/O, it's Willoz.

Well yeah, I noticed that moment in YW--then in the next epp she's after Wes and kissing him. That's what I meant by overnight--of course I don't know how long time passed in b/t, but the point was that it's the equivalent of overnight in terms of what we see--she first realizes she likes him when he performs the spell (I don't know why she randomly began to see him in a new light in that moment, which is another thing that bugs me, but she does), and then in the next epp she's trying to get Wes to notice her new feelings for him--not much development in between. Or indication as to why she suddenly sees him that way during that spell.

I don't like season 5 much (and only recently got it on DVD), so I haven't watched Lineage in a while, but I don't remember her necessarily seeing him in a new light then--she had realized he loved her before, back in season 4. And didn't she continue to show signs of liking the science guy even after that? I'd have to double-check and re-watch, but as far as I recall it seemed like the lightbulb moment happened in the end of YW, only one epp before they get together, and the lightbulb moment seemed very random and inexplicable--like, we're going to kill off Fred in too eps, so let's get them together for a little bit. If the lightbulb moment did occur in Lineage as you say, then it's even weirder, b/c I don't recall any more romantic reactions to Wes/developments on Fred's part b/t then and YW....

I like to keep my options open, so I try not to ship too much. However, the ones I've clung to through thick and thin and Spuffy and Xangelus are Spander and Fuffy. I know they didn't technically happen on screen, but I've got a good imagination and broadband. Spander because of the wealth of brilliant fanfic and the snarky and witty dynamic that the two characters. Fuffy because mmmmm, and for more mature reasons: I love how attracted Buffy is to Faith's darkness and how they're never really able to let their guard down around each other, but we're constantly wondering what it would be like if they had.

I'm also a big fan of Kenlow, because Kennedy's a wonderful character and I think the best possible partner for Willow at that time in her life.

                        spuffy

I'd have to say Spuffy because it really underlined the fact that both Spike and Buffy are children of violence (of course because he's a vampire and really enjoys fighting for its own sake, and her slayer power comes from demon sources) but also because it explores the relationship between sexuality and aggression. That last scene is astonishing on so many levels----both actors expressed amazing passion!

A lot of people don't care for Smashed, but there's a lot in it. Remember that Spike only became interesting to Buffy after he reveals that he does have power to fight her despite the chip? I was also interested in the theme of manipulation throughout the episode-----Amy manipulates Willow to go out to the Bronze, the college guys try to manipulate Amy and Willow, Spike manipulates the trio, and of course Buffy manipulates Spike. He's putty in her hands! There's a typical Jossian use of poetic justice-------the college guys who try to be womanizers end up dancing in cages, Spikes attempt at phoning Buffy results in her getting the upper hand on him (again). After the first fight between Buffy and Spike, he ends up on his knees (again) which to me carries out a theme of redeeming chivalrous love,so obvious at the end of Season 7.

Another theme explored throughout the episode is loneliness. Willow offers to make a companion rat for rat-Amy, even though she believes it will end badly. Spike shouts at Buffy-------"I'm the only one here for you, pet. You got no one else!" The whole Scooby gang yearns for Giles and his expertise.

I found facial expressions in some scenes odd and very jarring, but all in all I saw a great deal in this ep!

                          .
Sigh. Those ships that didn't happen always get me the most in fanfic, especially a very dark with bad ending Xangelus. I love Spander for the witty, snarky mood, if you wanna understand Spander just picture Xander/Cordelia and place Spike instead of Cordelia and there you have it. Buffy/Faith is so damn sexy, I'm not into female slash, but I can admire that ship. Willow/Anya is the female Spander.

Anyhow I voted other for Bander of course. Though a close second would be Wilah, a dark relationship done right.

As for the Willoz, or Woz, or what have you, i figured out a perfect new one. Ozlow, I think it sounds a hell of a lot better than the alternatives.

Perhaps b/c Sparmony actually happened as a relationship, whereas Bander has yet to occur, and is currently only a hope of fans like yourself?

The more egregious error was ommitting Ruffy, which is definitely one fo the major ships that occurred on the show.....

Well, Spuffy of course is my favorite 'Ship. As someone stated in an earlier post, part of the process of liking Spuffy was watching the whole unlikeliness of the 'Ship in the beginning grow into something that I enjoyed.

And although Sparmony is not my favorite 'Ship - I liked the chemistry between Mercedes and James better than the chemistry between Sarah and James.

Well I'm not really a shipper but I have to say I did enjoy Wesley and Lilah's relationship. There was sort of a tragic beauty about it that defied the conventions which Wes summed by stating "It's not always about holding hands. What started off as lonliness and self loathing became something more.
