Buffy and Angel have had some awesome flashbacks. But are there any you feel they missed out, or that you would love to see... perhaps in season 8, when actor age is not an issue?

From the discussion in another thread, various people were thinking that some Ethan/Giles flashbacks would be excellent. Maybe doing magic and/or crime together? Magic crime! Ocean's...two style.

Personally I'd love to see some flashbacks of Giles at Oxford (partly because I want to know what college he went to...but then again, Buffy operates in a slightly different dimension, so perhaps it's like Philp Pulman, and the colleges would have different names) but even more, flashbacks of him in London in the 70s, all strung out and Withnaily.

We've never had any POV flashbacks for Dru or Darla, those would be cool.

I would *really* have loved childhood flashbacks for Xander and Willow.

Dawn flashbacks to times when we know she wasn't "really" there.

Faith flashbacks. 'Nuff said.

I would love to see flashbacks to the watchers (Giles and Wes ... others I don't care about) when they were educated to be a watcher.

I would love to see more about the lives of Faith and Gunn before the series.

And I still want to see where it went wrong with Liam and why ... and can we have his last name?

I agree about more flashbacks from the POV from Darla and Dru. We only had in "Darla", flashbacks from her POV and they were pretty great.

Watcher Academy lessons would definitely be fun. Tom Brown's Schooldays, Watcher style (lashings and roastings and all those boarding school horrors). With a bit of Hogwarts thrown in. There was one comic that had Giles's initiation rite to become a watcher ? not as a kid though, as an adult ? which was pretty exciting (he had to face his Ripper self in this trial cave?seeing Giles fighting Ripper was pretty fun).

in the comics, we do see giles' grandmother (edna fairweather), grandfather (the baker's boy at giles' bakery) and father (looking like an older clone of tony head).

and buffy already had a comic run about her time in the asylum. it's called "slayer, interrupted".

there are comic flashbacks to dawn in pre-season 5. lots of them, in fact. she's all through the 1996 stuff and there are even comics full of alternate versions of famous scenes like dawn finding buffy drowned in the master's lair, jenny telling dawn to get away from angelus, etc... one of the best ones is where dawn feels invisible.

there are also a handful of little willow/xander moments in the original comic run. the 1996 fillers also have a little bit of giles, wesley, lilah, xander, willow, cordelia, harmony and jesse... and of course buffy, pike, angel, whistler, merrick, joyce, dawn, hank, etc...

you know what i really want to see? pike brought back canonically!!! in luke perry form! certainly would beat satsu, imo. you can't use angel or spike--i'd say go to the next best thing. best relationship buffy ever had besides angel and spike was oliver pike!

as for flashbacks... i'd like to see darla's early years with the master--and learn her real name, more about liam--perhaps see him before he became disillusioned or see him with kathy--or see what incident(s) with his father made him what he was--also want to know his last name, angelus massacring drusilla's family (and learning more about them--we know she called one of her 2 sisters "little anne" and we know that the other people in her life were her mother and uncle), etc...

if there's any comic series i'd love to see and is totally ripe for the picking--it's a comic dedicated to the vampire quartet!

imo, one of my absolute favorite fanfiction ideas i've ever read (an author named cynamin) was a story where kathy got transported into the future. i'd love to see at least a kathy reference pop up.

liam as a human, drusilla's plight and darla's early years are major interest points for me. also, the origins of the master would be awesome. we know he killed a slayer and turned her into a vampire (yuki makimura) circa 1800. she's canon because she's in tales of the slayers (on the fray page). it'd be majorly awesome if we saw him before his appearance corrupted (in mark metcalf form of course!).

Yeah, I’ve read it. I mean canon stuff. It was pretty good though, as was the Edna stuff.

Aww, I’d love to see Pike back. Not as a flashback, but now, in Scotland (or in New York if that’s where they’re settling after the castle disaster).

tales of the slayers/vampires are canon. joss was involved as were some of the show writers/cast. it's also fray's first appearance.

kathy is liam's little sister, as seen in the prodigal.

personally, i think the 1996 stuff is the closest we'll ever get to that year and since it was written with the attempt to fit it into the canon, it pretty much is because there's nothing to say it isn't. that's how i approach the comics. the ones that are written well and care about continuity are just as good as canon and often deal with periods that aren't likely to be done in the immediate now that joss usually works in. also, there are comics written by espenson and such that are hard to discount.

and then you have regular comics that were always assumed to be non-canon, but got canonized when yuki got canonized in joss' own introduction to fray in tales of the slayers.

Ethan and Giles in the 70's would be my absolute favourite amongst the choices but as some of the others have said, some more Dru/Darla flashbacks without Spike or Angel would be cool.

YES! to seeing something that we know happened but have Dawn in on it - Dawn walking into Buffy's bedroom when she's crying about Angel turning in Innocence, wanting to know what's up and Buffy trying to explain to an 11 yr old, or Angelus threatening Dawn would've been really great, really angsty for Buffy - the final straw that makes her realise she must kill him. Maybe we'll get something like that in S8.

Some tie in with the movie would've been great too, like they did in the Origins comic.

I'd love to have seen more Anya flashbacks, she was over a 1000 years old, she must have had some serious fun. I do love the Dracula idea it'd be so cool to see Dracula Prince of Darkness meet Anya terrified of bunnies but deadly to naughty men. Maybe they could have met when she performed a vengence on someone and he saw her work and admired it? I'd love to have seen more Darla flashbacks without Angel, she lived for over a 100 years before she even met him, she must have done something in all that time. She doesn't seem like the type to just sit at home twidling her thumbs. She was with the Master she must have had to have been pretty badass to have been able to stick around with him for that long, considering he didn't seem adverse to slayers and danger.

I'd love to have seen some Faith flashbacks with her old watcher. The comics would be great for this as you don't have to worry about her appearence at all, the same way they were able to give us a missing scene with the Faith/Mayor in 'No Future For You.'

More Giles flashbacks!! He has an interesting storyline, being the rebel in the 70's. Also, something more about the Watchers Council, maybe when he was preparing to be a watcher or something like that.

Tangent had a neat idea about Darla-pre Angel, that woulda been cool. Or even Darla when Angel had left her for those 90 odd years. I'd love to see how she interacts with Luke and the Master and her adventures on the Hellmouth before Buffy showed up.
