Romantic moments in the Buffyverse

I don't think I've seen a thread about this, so I thought I could start one. We all have our favorite ships in the Buffyverse, but I'd like to know which do you think...
1. was the most romantic couple?
2. was the most romantic moment in the series? (Either on Buffy or Angel)
3. what do you qualify as romantic?

1. was the most romantic couple?
Honestly I actually think I want to give this title to Willow and Oz. There were so many really sweet tender moments such as Oz wanting to wait, Oz saying when he first wants a kiss from her, he wants her to be kissing him. They made me literally squee so many times. Willow fighting to get hm back after her...err cheating. I know cheating sucks but still doing what it takes to make it up to a person and get him back

2. was the most romantic moment in the series? (Either on Buffy or Angel)
Do I have to do just one? How about per couple?

Cordelia/Xander: Cordelia standing up to her friends and telling them that she is going to keep seeing Xander. I just thought it was a fabulous moment for both of them individually and as a couple. I love when someone put everything on the line for their significant other.

Buffy/Angel: Her kissing him in the ice rink while he still has his vamp face on and not noticing. I love when you see pure love past the physcial elements. Beautiful.

Buffy/Spike: Actually it is before they are ever a couple but when she pretends to be the Buffybot and thanks Spike. I thought is was a great moment for them.

Wesley/Lilah: Him ripping up her contract was just a beautiful moment, and the look on her face when he does it.

Cordelia/Angel: The only moment at any time was the last few moments of Your Welcome.

Uh I don't know if they are considered a couple but Gunn/Gwen when he risks touching her skin and them softly begins to touch parts of her body (I know that sounds really naughty) but I actually thought it was beautifully sweet.

Spike/Dru: When Spike tries to get Dru out of the church and the Dru ends up carrying him out..I know we are supposed be be all "oh crap" but I found it really endearing

Okay I may think of more later or take time to truly try to rank them but I am going to stop for now.

3. what do you qualify as romantic?
It doesn't have to be the epic, I am going to die with our without you level that Buffy Angel had, even though with them I liked it, Many times it is the really subtle sweet or even silly moments a couple have that get me the most.

I'm also going with Oz and Willow. They aren't my favourite couple, buy they were cute and did a lot of thngs for eachother.

2. was the most romantic moment in the series? (Either on Buffy or Angel)
There are a lot of great scenes with couples, but I wuill try to find the really romantic ones.

I love Gunn bringing breakfast to Fred in Double or Nothing (I think). It was such a cute boyfriend thing from big Gunn. He was a really cute boyfriend. I want also Gunn as a boyfriend.

I've to agree with Boltmaiden about Angel and Buffy in WML. It was a really important moment for Angel because for(maybe) the first time, he is accepted for who he is by somebody. I don't know if Buffy noticed how important her acceptance was for Angel, but I love it.

Also Oz buying the little witch thingy (I forgot what it was), it's not a great gift ... but it's better than a golden ring because this is an unique gift. If you give Cordelia the same, she would probably be not very happy. It's chosen for Willow.

Wesley reading the Little Prince for Fred was beautiful, but I doubt that we could call it romantic with her dying.

Of course, the most 'romantic looking' scene is also one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the 'verse. It's Giles coming home in Passion, and there are roses and La Boheme ... He smells that rose ...

3. what do you qualify as romantic?
Doing something sweet what is important for the other. Or a pleasant suprise like a breakfast or a little gift. But for me it has to be real for both characters and it shouldn't feel forced. Making a romantic dinner to make up with somebody is less romantic than a little 'I Love You' in the supermarket.

Wow! This is difficult! And it's very hard to keep my 'Ship out of the way of my feelings!

I can't really say who was the most romantic - because there were many romantic moments by many 'Ships and not all in my favorite.

- The OZ and Willow "goodbye" scene (first and last one)
- Willow and Tara moments...
- There are some Bangel moments I loved - The "Wild Horses" dance was so sweet...
- Anya and Xander in Season 7
- Wesley and Fred! The whole Fred turning into Illyria episode - I cry every time!
- Here's one that's a litte weird - and only because I just watched it - when Connor was born - the alley scene between Angel and Darla! I cry and cry at that one! So touching how Angel stays with Darla to the end!
- Here's another (Just because I am watching S3 Angel) - Gunn and Fred's first kiss - very sweet!

And of course all the sweet Spuffy moments are tops for me!!

Definition of romantic...

I know all the moments I mention above seem to have the "someone to die for" theme running through them or had a moment in which life was in the balance.

I'm loving all your answers!! and I think that so far, we agree on Willow and Oz being the most romantic couple, 'cause even though I'm Spuffy fan I think that Willow and Oz were really great together, they were the best couple IMO, see, I hate the Romeo and Juliet vibe, for me romance doesn't have to be epic and tragic, it's more about the little moments, the little things you do to make each other feel special, Willow and Oz had a lot of that, and well Spike and Buffy too in season 7 (and maybe we saw a little of that from Spike in season 5 too).

aw, i'm very happy to see that the majority vote seems to be willow/oz! ^^ i loved them so much as a couple. they really "got" each other and they were so incredibly happy together.

2. was the most romantic moment in the series? (Either on Buffy or Angel)
there's so many to choose from! oz's pez witch for willow. oz's little replies about how cute willow was when she does something... he had a bunch of those. lol. or the realization the next day (not the actual night) for both buffy and spike that their night of holding each other meant so much to them. buffy kissing angel when he was vamp'ed at the skating rink was a cute moment as well.

3. what do you qualify as romantic?
i'm not sure. i suppose its all the moments we would consider really "cute" or a moment in which the love someone feels is shining through without them saying anything. its not the "i love you's" as much as the actions proving so.

-For me the Willow/Oz first Kiss
-When Angel acheived perfect happiness. Note: that it was not the sex that made him lose his soul if it was then well I don't want to. Just think 'bout it. I feel like a prude. Anyway it was the sleeping with the love of his life knowing how much they loved each other. It was due to the contentment. It just showed the love.
-When Willow chooses Tara over Oz

3. what do you qualify as romantic?
Just going out of your way to show someone else you love them. Got to be fairly spontanious. And definately not expected or compulsory. (Valentine's day as a example)
The love you put in to make both the other and through them yourself happy.

Hands down, the 'Willow' kissage speech by Oz. Before the I wanted Xander and Willow to get together, but then this clinched it for me.

Thought I'll add a poll to this thread and maybe it'll make it more interesting for people. So vote!! and post your opinion as to why you have voted for the couple.

I voted for Willow & Oz ... and Fred & Gunn. If Wesley & Fred got more time, I think that they would get a vote as well because what I saw was adorable and sweet. There was just not enough time.

Willow & Oz because they really tried to be great lovers (well until Willow started to kiss Xander) and their little moments were so sweet, the little gifts and kisses. There was nothin epic or forever about it ... it was after Fred & Gunn the most normal couple and I like that.

Fred & Gunn were two minor characters who were together in times where Cordy, Connor, Angel and Wesley took all the screentime. But sometimes there was a little Gunn & Fred moment and those were not very interesting but incredibly sweet, tender and normal. Their first kiss was romantic and they were the only couple where we saw normal dates and there was breakfast on bed, little insecurities, together in bed without hot sex or dramatic dreams, speeches etc. ... just a scene of two people together in bed without any bigger meaning. I love it ... and I loved how the relation did end, very natural and without any drama.

Maybe I do vote for the normal couples instead of the really romantic couples ... but I think that a normal couple is very romantic where the big relations are over the top and loses the little moments. Everything is epic, meant to be, important for the story, etc. No little normal moments ... or not enough.

But can I give a little mention for the scene in AHITW where Wesley and Fred are in bed and he reads 'the little prince' because she loves that book.

One of the sweetest moments was an Oz POV when he first met Willow. He saw past the sea of Lycra-spandex Cat costumes and other sexy Halloween costumes and spotted Willow in her Eskimo costume. I thought that was so "telling" of OZ - he was a man of depth.

I think there's elements of romance in all the couples really. Though I agree with the poll results that Oz/Willow were the most romantic, I also voted for Buffy/Angel and Giles/Jenny. I think traditionally, those three couples were the most romantic of the series and were kinda written that way. Whereas others such as Xander/Cordy, Xander/Anya, Buffy/Spike, Angel/Darla ect were more snarky, though obviously with romantic moments in there as well.

I really liked the scene between Oz/Willow in ?Amends' I thought that was wonderful, a real treat, I'm quite fond of that couple I thought they had some really awesome moments.

Willow and Oz were pretty romantic, but I voted for Willow and Tara, as I love how Willow was able to bring Tara out of her shell. I loved when Tara was doing Willow's palm and she said she saw 'Willow hand' and gave one of her little smiles, aww.

Buffy and Angel. of course. they were so intense and u could feel the love between them. they were incredible.

well hmm . romantic? theres so many.. tai chi buffy and angel, buffy and angels second kiss, willow and oz (the kiss speech) willow and oz goodbyes (although they were just a little upsetting and sad, but u can see the passion. oh and jenny and giles were sooo ****ing cute together. ****. ou i love fred and wesley!!!!!

Romance is sooo hard to define and find examples, it can be soo many different things and emotions. angel and buffy are like seeeeping with romance haha

I voted on Angel/cordy. They got great chemistry and a good storyline. But they could had some more time together.
My second favorite is Wes/fred.

The most heartbreaking scene is in WITW when Wes watch Gunn and Fred kissing.
All Cangel scenes in you're welcome are amazing.

I voted for Willow and Tara. They've always been my favorite couple, and I think they share many beautiful, romantic moments during their relationship.

Actually the most romantic moment for me was when Tara sung to Willow in "ONWF"
My favorite moment of TV ever. I have to leave the room if someone even hums any of it.

There are a lot of great couples out there, but I voted for Willow/Oz. They were so sweet together and we see that they had a lot of love and respect for each other. I mean, Oz had great stuff, like wanting to wait for Willow, not kiss her until she was ready to kiss him back and the most awesome moment for me: when Willow was held captive in "Choices" and everyone was discussing whether or not save her, Oz got up and destroyed the cauldron, without a word. Wow! And their breakup was heartbreaking.

I also love Willow/Tara that had a great romance too. They fell in love first with their minds, with their love of magics and then came the other kind. Also, throughout the series they share a lot of sweet moments.

4. Buffy/Spike (S7) (the scene in Touched is incredible)
5. Fred/Gunn (although I think Fred was better with Wesley)
