Goofy idea... what do you think would be the best couples you could make from matching up characters from Buffy with characters from Angel? All characters are fine, provided they appeared in at least one episode. For Faith, Spike, Cordy, Darla, and Wes, use either show

And no pairing people that have already been in a relationship with each other!

Some ideas that I have of pairings that would make a good couple...

Oz and Nina: Both werewolves, two completely different experiences. Both are artists, so they probably have complementary traits.

Nina and Xander: they're both really sweet people who haven't always been treated quite as well as they deserve, and Xander is field-tested in relationships with women of supernatural backgrounds.

Riley and Gwen: His earnestness would help break through her cynicism, and he'd never take advantage of her inexperience with physical and emotional intimacy.

Gunn and Buffy: I think they would bond instantly over... violence. I'm thinking more of Angel Season 2 and Season 3 Gunn, not later Gunns. Plus, Gunn probably can relate to the pressure Buffy has felt as the Slayer better than most humans could -- he was "class protector", too.

Fred and Willow: Fred kisses everybody, so it's not a stretch, and they were adorable in "Orpheus".

Wesley and Jenny: No offense to Giles, but I'm sure she'd find messing with Wes' head even more fun than she did with Giles.

Giles and Lilah: Dude. You know this.

If she weren't a lesbian, I'd say Connor and Kennedy. You know how much he likes strong women, and after she became a Slayer, they would basically do little besides have angry sex, I think.

    Oh nice idea,

Somewhere I always wanted general!Buffy and scruffy!Wesley together. They are both part of a difficult relation (Spuffy and Weslah), they both think that they are logical and objective when they aren't. Wesley isn't undead ... but can help and take care of himself. Besides, Wesley is a good man ... but not in the Riley kind of way.

I'm with you with on Xander and Nina. I think that they could be the cute and normal couple this 'verse needs so much.

And somewhere I could see Anya and Angel as a couple as well. They are both old, they both love money (really ... I can see Angel doing the money dance.), they are both ex-evil demons and I think they can snark and have hot sex together. It's not a forever-love. But I think they can spend a year or two together.

Willow and Doyle, Doyle is like Xander ... only he is not Xander. I think that Doyle and Willow would be cute together. I know ... Doyle is a man ... but I still believe that Willow can fall in love with a guy.

And Fred can date Giles. It's not a big step from Wesley to Giles. I think that Giles needs a smart, happy girl and Fred needs a new man.

edit: Gunn and Robin can have an 'attractive black men' club.

I don't know about Buffy and Wesley. I won't say his Watcher status would have been a problem -- she never respected him as an authority figure. But, I think by the time you're talking about, he was already too dark -- being human, he was darker for what he was than even her vampire boyfriends.

I'm with you with on Xander and Nina. I think that they could be the cute and normal couple this 'verse needs so much.
I'm almost tempted to solicit a banner. I really need to learn how to use photoshop

lol... I can totally see Angel learning the Dance of Capitalist Superiority. Everyone take a moment to picture Boreanaz and Emma doing the dance behind the Magic Box cash register.

      Okay, see, that was funny

It's kinda cool that the Jossverse has never even blinked at interracial dating. Buffy and Gunn would work, Buffy and Wood could actually have happened, she was interested. Wood and Faith did happen, Gunn and Fred happened, Gunn's friends thought he was with Cordy. Xander and Lissa went out, and he and Kendra were immediately intrigued by each other.

I agree about Buffy/Gunn. Gunn is human, but can also deal with Vamps, and lots of them. Plus, he's got a dark past.

Faith and Wesley. In Season 4, I was just waiting for them to have sex. Another person I could she with Faith is Gunn.

I know they dated, and I'm not saying this because I liked the two together, but Season6!Xander and Season3!Cordelia. She's newly demon-ed and he's newly single. They both grown so much, they might of had a shot at lasting.

Ooh, I'd really buy this one.
          Spoiler:
And being a vampire, he's just her type Though, pre vampire would probably work out better, huh?
For earlier Gunn/Buffy, if we ignored the fact that he was with Fred, a pre-him-killing-Fred's-professor Gunn and Buffy could be cute. I have a feeling that earlier Gunn might think she was a bit too preppy? Though, maybe not.

I'm imagining the scene where Angel finds out. That would be awesome.

Fred and Willow: Fred kisses everybody, so it's not a stretch, and they were adorable in "Orpheus"
Willow, not exactly smooth with the women is she? Hee, that "I'm seeing somebody" scene was brilliant. I don't know if Fred would go for a lesbian relationship in the long run, but a fling might work out. Perhaps if they'd both met in a slightly parallel storyline where they'd both done postgrads at Harvard or something?

Giles and Lilah: Dude. You know this.
          Yup. Is so.

Maybe if he dressed up as Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and pretended to be a drag king? I know plenty of lesbians who'd still do Captain Jack Sparrow. And maybe Kennedy'd go for the drag king angle...?

          Other pairings...

Anya/that businessman who is like a god to me but whose name escapes me...damn. He'd accept her as both a demon and a woman. She could teach him how to dress and love him in spite of his geekiness

Kate Lockley/Giles - ok, maybe plays into her daddy issues a bit too much, but I think he might actually help her be less grim, but she'd respect him for his realistic view of the world...and he'd be a little shocked at himself for dating a pig, but strangely attracted in a sleeping with the enemy kind of a way

Anya/Groo - two fish out of water. Plus, she'd appreciate his physique. I'd like to see her as the one in a relationship who's more clued up about the world. I think they'd be adorable together. And he'd totally treat her like a queen, which I feel she'd enjoy.

Joyce/Holland Manners - so, he's evil. So, he's married... I can see still them having a brief torrid affair. He'd take her to all the best restaurants. She'd remind him what it was to be human. Buffy and Dawn can't be the only Summers women who dig evil guys?

Willow/Lilah - I think evil Willow would be just up Lilah's street. Lilah approaches evil willow to get her to work for W&H. Evil Willow declines, but they spend the night together anyway. When Willow becomes good again, she tries to save Lilah, but she's a lost cause.

That woman with the purple eyes from She\Xander - demon women like him. And I think they'd appreciate his lack of macho attitude.

See, Faith and Wes *do* have the kind of history that would be a problem, unlike Buffy and Wes. The torture, also.

            How about Lindsey and Anya?

A lot of people have said for a while that Xander and Cordy would have been a *great* couple around the later seasons of Buffy and Angel, and I agree, but there'd have been no getting around it with the Jasmine story. I *really* would love to see Xander's reaction to the news that she died.

David Nabbit, Wolfie... and that is *funny*.

            Agree on Giles and Kate.

Y'know, Groo/Buffy has some simple appeal. I think especially in her Season 5 ennui about relationships, or in Season 6 as an alternative, um, toy to Spike. I don't think she could be serious about him. He, being Groo, would simply adopt her as his new princess.

You think Jheira and Xander? Really?

Ooh, I agree with Wolfie on the Anya/Groo ship. You just know Anya would love being called a princess, and he'd bend over backwards trying to please her. Works out for both parties. Plus, Cordy went from Xander to Groo, so why shouldn't Anya?

I always wanted to see, maybe not in a shippy way, but a Wes/Buffy meeting. I would love to see Buffy's reaction to how much Wesley has changed.
The story's kinda bland. It's about this guy named Dumbledore Calrissian who needs to return the ring back to Mordor.

Side question- are there shows that do? I mean Grey's is all about mixing it up too? Most of the other shows I can think of have either black or white characters rather than a mix, so I guess they don't have a chance to show interacial relationships.

                100% on both of them!

It's an obvious call, but the original unnatural brats are a perfect match, they can whine and whinge and get kidnapped on Tuesdays together- yep, Connor and Dawn.

oooh, see now I like the idea of Buffy and Wes - not dork Wes, but badass Wes... I think that'd be a very intersting match-up....

yeah, I can't really think of anyone to go with Fred since there weren't any 'real' manly men on Btvs...Giles is too old for her IMO, and Xander is too much of a putz...

Sigh... such baseless scorn for the Xand. I don't think he and Fred would have hit it off romantically because it would have felt too much like Willow.
I think they would have been pretty much instantly good friends, though -- they've got the same empathy, but she's honestly too intellectual for him (not too *smart* per se). I think that was a problem for Fred and Gunn, too. Gunn and Xander are a lot alike, actually -- had their circumstances been the same, they'd pretty much be the same guy.

Ever since that episode where the ATS gang thought they were teens again (Spin the bottle?) and we found out that Fred was a pothead I've wanted her with Oz. I mean she is kinda like new-Willow so we know she's his type and I think she'd be all intrigued by his intelligent yet slacker qualities. And she's so tiny she'd make him feel all manly even when he wasn't wolfed. Plus-since she's been cool with Lorne and Angel-you gotta think she'd be accepting of the whole wolfie-mojo.
I've been considering a fan fic on this couple.

I've always liked the predictable Cordelia/Harmony. And Xander/Dawn. I also think the gentle goofiness of Xander/Fred would be sweet.

Does Angel/Faith count, since she was more on Buffy than on Angel? B/c I think they would make a good pair, they have so much in common and are going through the same thing, and seem to have good chemistry....

Otherwise the one that I've always considered and liked is Willow/Fred (Frillow, lol?)--they had some nice chemistry in Orpheus, they're both science nerds who get excited about scholarly things, and I could totally see Fred being bi--she seemed interested in Willow as it was in that epp! Plus Fred reminds me a bit of Tara, and I've always thought that she and Willow would have been a much better ship than stupid Willow/Kennedy....ugh.

I don't think I'd like Giles/Lilah, it'd be too much of a repeat of W/L, IMO, and I just can't picture anyone else with her! (Except maybe dark!Angel, but he's an exception....).
Promise that you'll return to me.

Though you could equally say the reverse... that other shows that do blink or avoid it are disgusting! Is it a big deal on US tv? I mean, do people comment on it when it happens? What about Grey's, does that raise any eyebrows?

Other thoughts: the Tara/Fred suggestion's interesting, but I feel that Fred might need someone a bit edgier? Though still a brainbox. So Willow/Fred seems the best there. Can't think of any actual lesbians on Angel though so the Willow shipping options, limited.

I'm not aware of any shows right now that make a huge deal out of interracial dating... but, I've also seen Buffy complimented as being a trendsetter on the subject. I don't think there's something *wrong* with a show making an issue of it, but that's only insofar as it's treating the fact that there are real life challenges that interracial couples face.

Angel/Faith counts -- they were on both shows, so might as well allow it. I've always felt that Faith is a better match with Angel or Spike than Buffy was.

Thinking about it, I'm not really placed to comment on interracial couples on US tv because I'm not sure how much of an issue it is there. Actually, I guess I'm not really sure how much of an issue it is here... depends where you live I suppose. So, yeah, it is good for a show to reflect the troubles that people go through.

Angel/Faith works better than Faith/Spike imo, because I think both of them are looking for a good person to make them better, in a way. Angel's no (erm) angel, but he does have that virtue vibe that I think both Spike and Faith like (even if they don't admit it).

angel/faith - i'd totally go for this one. frankly, i think faith right now has more in common with early buffy than buffy does. and this is a much better match than faith and spike. faith cares about angel and wesley in ways, imo, i don't think she truly cares about any of the btvs crew--including buffy and giles. i'd love to see her with either angel or wesley (you hear me, joss!?!?!).

anya/david nabbit - anya would be a very, very happy capitalist and david can get off on many demony tales.
