  • Buffy References...

    ... in other media:

I was reading a great little book the other day called "Girl meets boy" by Ali Smith and the sister character has an inner monologue going on after she discovers the main character (her sister) is gay and part of it is "She liked Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But so did I. I liked it too. And it had those girls in it who were female homosexuals and they were portrayed as very sweet..."

I was going "Squee!!!" as I read that!

Anyone else got any references to BtVS or Angel they've found around the place?

An Australian comedy band called Tripod make a reference to BtVS in their song Crap Karate. On the dvd when they mention it there are cheers from the audience.
"And remember, we keep our supraesophageal ganglion to ourselves. That means you Jimmy!"

    Mr Ray, 'Finding Nemo'

Not really a reference, but it reminded me of an episode in Friends when they all think that Phoebe is a pornstar, but it's actually her twin sister, Ursula. Their last name is Buffay and the movie's called Buffay the Vampire Layer, i think it is. bahahahaha, that ep is so funny

Very sweet...apart from the whole going evil/mindrape bits...

There's one incredibly bit in Will and Grace when Jack's trying to chat up some guy who works in television by blurting out: "Ohmygod, Buffy is my LIFE!"

        I hear ya.

First poster- Lol Willow and Tara refernce (It certiently ain't a Kennedy and Willow Refernce).

Charmed had a reference to Buffy when Phoebe said "Where's Buffy when you need her).

Are we there yet? Brieftly mentions Buffy as one of the shows in the beginning when the maion guy is yelling at a kid when he asks for some cards.

I am sure I got more but can't remeber them right now.

Guitar Girl - a teen book about a rock band. They come on stage every night to the Buffy theme, and one of the characters is called Joss!

A stupid self help book about not killing yourself I read in a waiting room a while ago referenced Firefly A LOT. Basically, it seemed to be saying, if you have suicidal thoughts, watch Firefly. Sound advice, I'm sure.

One of my lecturers mentioned Buffy the other day in connexion with Arete in the Odyssey. Not really a reference in another media, but I thought it was cool.

Another teen book described someone as having, "bright, Buffy lips", which as a description, I didn't completely understand!

There are LOADS of Buffy references though. I will come up with more probably!

              No one mentioned Supernatural?

Well, first off, the whole episode "What Is And What Should Never Be" is a whole rip off of "Normal Again", and the creator said so in the commentary.

Also, in the episode "Hell House", a geek ghost hunter is greaking out and the other geek ghost hunter goes, "Calm down. Remember WWBD. What would Buffy do?"

I know in the movie 'Bring It On' someone says "lets beat these Buffy's down" to Kirsten Dunst. Ironically the movie starts both Eliza Dushku (Faith) and Clare Kramer (Glory.) And I only saw a snippet but in the second Bring It On movie which stars Hayden (Claire) from 'Heroes' they mentioned Buffy again.

I thought that was pretty cool lol !
