  • New "Angel: Aftermath" Interview with Kelley Armstrong

Here! Go take a look, it's very interesting.

(How many issues is this going to be again?)

Interview says 5 or 6 issues. Sounds interesting, but I wasn't expecting much in the way of spoilers. Going back to an earlier exit on the roundabout will hopefully mean that we'll see something similar to what Angel was always supposed to be -- no big corporate power, no Hell A, just helping some helpless. Of course, since Wes is dead, Cordy is dead, Gunn is dead, and Fred, too, he'll either be solo or have new MoG made up from Gwen or Nina or Connor or Spike.

Ah, thanks. I didn't read the summary up top, I just jumped straight to the interview.

I'm a bit wary about the "one or two" new characters. Is there really any place for them within so few issues?

Also, I wish someone would ask her whether Joss will contribute to, or at least approve of, her storyline. Her comments on "canon vs. canon" were a bit vague.

If enough people die at the end of After the Fall, I guess they could fit in a few new characters. That makes me nervous...

I think she did say on her website that Joss has final approval. Her canon comments seemed to be more about her worrying about acceptance from the fans than anything, which I found kind of endearing.

All in all, a good interview. I really liked hearing her answers about favorite character and episode. It's nice to know she's a fan.

I enjoyed the interview, thanks for posting it.

Nice that she is talking with the/her fans as well. Stephen Mooney, Brian Lynch and Byrne are doing it as well and I like that.

Sounds good. The canon issue seems pretty clear to me: it's considered canon, but she wouldn't hold it against anyone if people decided to ignore it (the way some are ignoring season 8). Her take on canon seems pretty interesting, really, in that she thinks it's ultimately up to the fans rather than Joss.

I do too Enisy - having Joss back up her work with a "Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval" would certainly help quell any uneasiness. I'm always leary with the way other writers might handle my favorite characters. Especially Spike! Lynch has his style down so clear it will be hard to hear someone else's voice.

I'm secretly hoping Lynch and Uru will continue with a Spike: Aftermath or something to that affect

Yeah I didn't think the canon issue was that vague either. She's confirmed that it's an official continuation of Angel's story but that people don't have to view it as canon if they don't want to. Which is no different from anyone who chose to ignore a televised season, 'After the Fall' or season eight. At the end of the day it's the official continuation of the series, but it's up to you wether or not you're going to hop on for the ride.

I don't care if it is Joss canon (not a canon freak) so long as they retain the ATF numbering and make it an ongoing series--meaning make it canon within itself. Know what I mean?

I've never read anything by her, but I hope she continues to do Q&As.

She probably will. She has a whole section of her forum dedicated to Q&As.
