I know that we have a section for clubs but I'm not sure if this relation is ready for a thread in that section. So I started one in this section, besides we can talk here about the last Nina/Angel action without spoilerwarnings.


How do you see their relation; like a romantic one, a friendship or something else?

Do you like the relation between the two?

Was/is Angel using Nina?

Do you see potential for this relation? And would you like to see more of it?

It's not a secret that I really like this ship, I can see this as a lasting relation ... I know that it looks like Nina cares much more about Angel than Angel about her. And I think that this is partly true, but I don't think that Angel was using her ... we already saw before that Angel has trouble with focussing on more than one thing at the time. He is in hell and he wants to save everybody, I doubt that Angel's mind is buzy with girlfriends or anything else besides the hell situation. And he seems to really care about her and he enjoys being with her. Angel lived without sex for 100 years, I doubt that he felt the need to jump on somebody because he could.

About the name for the ship; Ningel sounds stupid ... but so do Spuffy, Bangel, Tillow and all the other names. Anna could work as well, but it reminds me on 'Bike' (Buffy/Spike) a name what is more besides the ship name.
After Dangel, Bangel en Cangel ... Nangel would be logical but I don't like Nangel.

How do you see their relation; like a romantic one, a friendship or something else?

I see it as a romantic relationship -- she was pretty clearly infatuated with him from day one, he was clearly interested when he was talking to Wes in "Smile Time". And now, in "After the Fall", she seems *very* interested, very protective. He hasn't really done anything to reciprocate yet, but he's aware of her.

Do you like the relation between the two?

I like it pretty well. It was nice to see a relationship that didn't allow Angel to luxuriate in his brooding. However, I think he was dating up in Season 5 -- she deserved better than she was being treated.

Was/is Angel using Nina?

Not really using her, but he wasn't being fair to her, because he was sleeping with her despite his attempt to hunt down Buffy.

Do you see potential for this relation? And would you like to see more of it?

Yes to both.

Angel/Nina. Name combinations are mostly lame

I saw it as a romantic relationship, it was obvious that Nina was interested in Angel, and his interest for her (I think) was genuine too.

I liked the "lack of drama". They had a nice relationship, apparently, easy going and not a relationship that would cause the end of the world. It would have been very nice and healthy for Angel if they would have had more time. But I felt a little sad sometimes for Nina, because I liked her and wanted that Angel would be more "boyfriend material" for her, of course with the battle of all battles coming his way, I understand why he kept the distance.

Was/is Angel using Nina?

Maybe a little bit? I don't know, it seemed like he really wanted to give the relation a chance at first but just coundn't with all that was going on in his un-life at the moment. He was distant and it kind of reminded me of (and please I hope nobody gets offended by this) Buffy and Spike's relation, cause it was a sexual and needy relationship, like both Angel and Buffy reached a point in their lives when they kind of just needed to be with someone. Of course Angel and Nina didn't have the drama or the violence of Buffy and Spike's relation (which was good), but there was a certain convenience in both cases.

Do you see potential for this relation? And would you like to see more of it?

I think it has potential, yeah, and I would love to see more of them working things out and trying to be a couple.

Oh, I don't have the answer for that, every name seems silly. *lol*

I don't think you can really call it friendship as there's clearly a romantic undercurrent going on there. But I do think so far in 'After the Fall' it's been pretty one sided. Nina's romantically interested in Angel, Angel's aware of it and that's about that. Still romantic though, and doesn't mean it can't evolve.

Do you like the relation between the two?

Generally yeah. I mean to be perfectly honest I'm not that invested in it, it doesn't really evoke strong emotions in me. But it's a perfectly fine and fun relation that I have no problem watching unfold whatsoever. I like Nina's character and I like Angel's character so it in no way hurts my enjoyment of the series when these two share a scene together. And I think it's the most believable and natural way to go, they couldn't just go back to being friends with it all being hunky dory after their history, however brief it was.

Was/is Angel using Nina?

Nope, I don't believe he was using her at all, they were just simply at different stages in the relationship. Nina was more invested in Angel and more focused on the relationship whereas for Angel it was more of a release. At least that's how I interpreted it. And I don't think that means Angel was using her whatsoever, she knew how he felt. The one time I thought it was a bit strange was how she knew he'd went globe trotting after Buffy which must have stung her a little. But she's a smart girl and she made the decision to sleep with him regardless. Angel must have cared about her, first because he tried to get her out of LA before the whole thing went down and secondly because he asks Wes "what can I offer her?" If he didn't give an ass about her he wouldn't be worrying about her like that.

Do you see potential for this relation? And would you like to see more of it?

In all honesty, I don't know if I can see Angel reciprocating. I haven't read Issue #11 yet so perhaps something goes on in that issue that might change my mind, but at this point it seems one sided. I got the impression Angel's uncomfortable because he knows Nina's still interested but he isn't. I think Nina was ultimately right when she said that he's an amazing guy but "he's a terrible liar." Angel just didn't seem fully invested in the relationship and I haven't seen anything since to make me think he is again. His "maybe after we-" reeked of him trying to get out of a sticky conversation. Generally in my opinion there doesn't seem to be anything to indicate Angel wants to start anything up again.
