  • Best Angel Tearjerkers

Okay, so, we know Buffy had plenty of crying scenes, but did Angel? Not many people think so, but hell yeah. It did.

    To name a few:

    Hero: Bye-bye Doyle
Five By Five: "Kill me, Angel! I'm BAD!"
    Reprise: The Elevator Scene
    Epiphany: Kate
Lullaby: "You make sure to tell him that"
    Forgiving: That final scene
    Salvage: Off goes the head
A Hole In The World: Bye-bye Fred
    Shells: The End Montage
Not Fade Away: You name it; "Lie to me," "You're not part of the solution," etc.

My favorite? Faith's breakdown in "Five By Five". Deserves an emmy. Deserves two. No, make that three. Eliza Dushku is frackin' fantastic.

I agree with all of the ones you've listed, but I think my top tearjerker is Connor and Angel in Home. I've seen that scene at least four or five times, and I've cried every time. "Do not say you're sorry!" and "You let him get me!" break my heart. VK and DB rock.
The story's kinda bland. It's about this guy named Dumbledore Calrissian who needs to return the ring back to Mordor.

I said other because you missed the biggest one....the "I'll never forget" scene in I Will Remember You. I bawl like a baby everytime, Sarah's acting is just that good....

Though Fred's death is a close second....

        What? No You're Welcome? REALLY?

God losing Cordy got to me on a level that none of the others did. Though I suppose it was less of a tear-jerker and more of a numb feeling. I'm still voting for it though. Second would probably be 5 x 5.

Edit: The more I look at it the more it seems like you are missing a bunch. I wouldn't say the decapitation scene was much of a tearjerker. Or Angel trying to kill Wes. Or the elevator. In fact the only real Tear-jerky ones IMO would be Wes' death, Fred's death, an the Shells montage. And 5x5 of course. And Hero. ok, so about half. I'm in a wierd mood. Sorry.

I was just listing random ones of the top of my head I know I missed a ton, so I put other However, IMO, I think the decapitation scene is a huge tearjerker. Dead!Lilah talking to Wesley is so sad!

Oh, I Will Remember You! How could I forget!? That's pretty high up on my list, too.

Oh yeah.. I would have voted IWRY cause I still cry ..I think I'm not going to, but then Sarah does that "I'll never forget" and I do.
But I voted for the end montage in Shells since that wasn't there.

My vote went to "Other". The "You're Welcome" scene where we find out that cordy has died gets me everytime Plus I love the conversation they have before angel get the phone call. Second for me wouldve been Fred's death In AHITW.

my cry scene is wesley's death. that gets me the most.

i've cried at a total of 3 scenes in the entire 11 1/2 seasons of the jossverse. "wesley, why can't i stay?", fred smiling in the car as she drives (what a bittersweet smile--it's halfway between trying to keep from crying and hope) and "would you like me to lie to you now?".

the two closest that come to that is... buffy sending angel to hell--when angel doesn't know where he is, angel asks about her being hurt, buffy realizes it's angel and she gives that face as she hugs him--also "close your eyes". and darla staking herself and then holtz letting angel go while holding connor in the soaking wet alley.

my biggest chill moment actually has to be keith szarabajka's delivery of the "and was it your hands..." speech. especially the child's coffin part. that man's voice is incredible.

"Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh and cruel. But that's why there's us. Champions."

My favorite has to be Fred's death in AHITW, the "Why can't I stay" is totally heart-breaking. My runner-ups are the finale montage of Shells since I'm so moved by Fred's death, watching teen Fred full of hope going to LA is really painful too and finally You're Welcome last scene, tear-jerking as well, probably because this is the only scene Charisma acted well (), joke aside I must say it's probably one of the reasons, the last scene is written very well and Charisma excellent acting hooked me.

I always believed That Ats had more tearjerkers than Buffy.

                    My favourite;
                    Forgiving - Angel's Attempted Murder

That moment is so powerfull and you feel so bad for both guys. And their fun en great friendship dies, and it never will be okay again after that scene. And I love the acting, AD and DB are fantastic in that scene.

But almost all the 'Angel lost Connor' scenes are tearjerkers as well. The moment Holtz kidnaps Connor, Angel sitting on his bed with Cordelia next to him, Angel putting the little crib away ... and the scene in 'Home' fits as well where Angel loses Connor again. And Angel sending Connor away in Deep Down is heartbreaking ...

Of course the death scenes are tearjerkers; Doyle, Darla, Lilah, Cordelia, Fred and Wesley ... I cry everytime when Cordelia, Fred and Wesley are dieing.

The goodbye scene in IWRY is a heartbreaking scene as well.

Umm can i ask why this is a tearjerker - Reprise - Elevator???

                      I. dont. get. it.

The one that gets me everytime without fail is Hero, when Doyle dies... Also You're Welcome & Shells

It has to be A Hole In The World - Fred Dies for me. It was so bitter sweet that Fred and Wes had finally admitted they wanted each other after so long and have it cut off in such a horrible way. Fred's "Why can't I stay?" always makes me cry. Then we have to watch as Wes deals with Illyria who looks so much like Fred. It keeps his pain raw like an open wound.

Not Fade Away - Wesley's Death didn't upset me as badly even though it was painful to watch. It had the comforting thought that he would be with Fred finally after death. While I don't think Wes was seeking death, I think he welcomed it.

                                This is the right answer.
Fred's death is crazy nuts, but "that isn't enough time..." Oh GAWD, I bawlled.

I voted for Wesley's death. So well played by both Alexis and Amy.

Another one that gets to me a lot is the final scene of Origin, where Connor confirms that his memories were returned when he says "You gotta do what you can to protect your family. I learned that from my father." The lack of any spoken words after that, just to two looking at each other, just gets to me. You can feel that while he's sad to see his son leaving yet again, it also meant the world to Angel to hear his son say those words.

I watched 'The Trial' today and the last scene is a tearjerker. In my head, the last time Angel cried was 'Eternity', but he cries in 'The Trial' as well ... and there is no overacting or fake crying, and he is sitting in one corner with tears in his eyes and Darla on the other side of the room ... also with tears in her eyes. I didn't remember the episode this powerful ... but wow.

Yeah, YW should be here, and I agree that the Forgiving scene isn't at all a tearjerker, it's more of a "holy crap Angel is trying to kill Wes!" moment!

For me though it's either Wesley or Fred's deaths, though I picked Wes's death since it's the best death of the Buffyverse IMO, or even the Jossverse actually. I want to cry every time Wes says, "I've MISSED you!" Though in some ways Fred's death is a little sadder since I think Wes was happy to die in NFA...."Why can't I stay" and "I will not be cut down by some monster flu!" always get me too....

A close second (maybe even over Fred's death) is that end montage in Shells....oh god help me it also makes me want to weep, to see that continuation after all that we've seen of Fred! The only part of Shells worth watching IMO.....

Yeah, ATS is definitely a sadder, more heart-wrenching show than BTVS! Most of the main cast dies after all!

Fred?s death was just heartbreaking, just to watch her like that. Dying little by little and Amy Acker and Alexis really brought tears to my eyes.
Second runner up, Wesley?s death. What really gets me is when he asks Illryia to lie to him and be Fred. Then, Fred kisses him and starts crying. I am such a crybaby.

You could put on the poll the scene at "Home", when Angel looks through the window how Connor is happy now.
