vamp-angel vs. vamp-gunn? (again proving that david boreanaz wore that vamp-makeυp/prosthetic amazingly well.)

Ohhhh. Angel is a vampire. Maybe it's not a literal cover? If it is literal, I'm curious why and how Angel became a vampire again. Because there were theories that Gunn became a vampire because Angel became human ... but Gunn is also a vampire. Hmmm I really want to know what happened.
Gunn's head looks weird, but Angel's vampface looks great.
Oooh. Very interesting! I'm thinking it's more of an artistic cover than a literal one, if only because I don't see Angel regaining his vampness until the end of AtF, if ever. But this makes me excited for the showdown-- I'm especially curious as to how Angel will react.
The story's kinda bland. It's about this guy named Dumbledore Calrissian who needs to return the ring back to Mordor.
Yeah I'm not going to just assume he's a vamp again until I see it, the covers are a lot of the time simply creative and symbolic. Remember the Issue #5 cover of Angel and Spike fighting which never happened either.
Not sure why I was so shocked to see[]Angel the vampire, with Wolfram and Hart it was always a possibility since we still don't know why is human in hell.
I have to say I really like those of you who said that maybe it is how Gunn views Angel, that is a great theory. Because personally I think deep down I would be disappointed if they

really turn Angel back because it has been done already. Angel chose to give up his humanity for Buffy's safety and to be able to keep fighting. Then it seems like again they try to take him out of play by making it harder to fight, but it didn't stop Angel and it has made me love him as a character even more and having him human now has made for a really good twist and it just seems overly cruel to once again take away from him. Besides keeping him human again keeps things more complex and forces Angel to fight even more through strategy and brains over brawns.
And this may me have a blanking in the brain, but since he is human is the curse gone thus meaning Angelus is history? Or is keeping his soul still a concern since we don't know why he is human now? Because in a weird way I think I would mourn never seeing in my opinion the greatest villain in the verse ever again. I mean yes eventually that is what I wanted for Angel but I guess I wanted that only at the end of his story, gosh I am really selfish when it comes to Angel:, having to still worry about loosing his soul, not wanting him to truly move on from Buffy, lol:
And actually now that I think about it does anyone else think that could be another interesting twist, he is human but his soul is not safe and thus if he lost his soul while human we would almost have a new form of Angelus, it would make his crimes even worse because he would be human, even if it was only technically speaking.
Okay so yeah that was a lot, sorry it's late and yet my mind is still wired.
I'm going to assume that Angel is human for keeps because that would suck much less. Seriously, the fact that Joss even jumped on Angel being human when Lynch pitched it is proof enough that Angel as vampire is over, narratively speaking. There's really no new depth to mine there.
I don't think of Angelus as being something that can be "gone" that way -- if anything, it's Angel that's an artificial construction of the curse, not Angelus. That by becoming human, "Angel" mode was fused into place.
angelus is a blank slate--a demon who is created from liam's memories, but is not liam.
vamp-angel is liam, who grew from angelus' memories--but is still liam with the demon, angelus, living in his body and mind... powerless to act, hungry, unable to affect, only privy to the power of suggestion, etc...
human-angel is only liam, but with angelus' memories included among his own... and short of a mind-wipe, is liam with all 386 years of baggage.
in other words, with human-angel, the psychotic bunkmate is gone, but not forgotten.
and i actually have to go with it being more interesting right now if angel has to get l.a. of hell as a human. it's harder for him.
it would be great if that image is either gunn still thinking angel is a vampire or angel using a glamour to make others think so.
though somehow, in twisted thinking, it would be awfully revenge-worthy if, when vamp-gunn finds out angel is human, gunn wants to sire him again. now that would be tragic. also... an excuse to really need willow quick... which might not be easy if they're still in hell and liam/angel gets sired again. however, that would be somewhat a repeat of darla in the trial (minus the dying from syphilis... that we know of).
yeah, i'm on the 'yay! human-angel!' train right now (though warm feelings inside about seeing that old, comfortable vamp-face again).

I thought Angel says in the comic that the "Vampire disguise" is sort of like a "glamour". And as long as he is alive people will think he is a vampire. That's how he's fooled people for so long.
It's funny KoC - I think it would really suck more if Angel was human. I want everything back to the way it was when they leave Hell-A. That seems more like the Joss Whedon I've come to know and mistrust.

I really like Angel in this cover. He's not in vampface (check the teeth), but it looks like he might be, which suggests that the vampire is still a part of him even though it's not, y'know, literally part of him anymore. Also, I wonder if Gunn knows this, seeing as he has no stake and is going for Angel's throat?

An idea has crossed my mind recently. I recall Brian Lynch posting on a forum site a list of things to look forward to in the coming issues. Number 6 on his list was an ominous message of "death is coming". Well, isn't that interesting? Taking a look at the cover for issue eleven featuring Angel with his face vamped out might suggest that this death he is speaking of could possibly be the death of Angel's newfound humanity (again, bleh, but yet in a more literal manner as opposed to the day being taken back in season 1). This would be commonplace in the Angelverse as death and life and other things of the like often have double or opposite meaning of what is being said. Now though that's usually within the universe (said only by actual characters in the series) itself, who's to say that Lynch wouldn't play with our heads and make us think someone's life was coming to a possibly permanent ending? Now, of course, I'm not banking all of my chips on Angel dying and then coming back. I also believe that the other logical candidate would be Lorne. I don't know why. He's one of my favorite characters, but I just have this gut feeling. We'll find out soon enough though, won't we?
I think that Gunn is going to be dust. The problem with Angel being sired again will be that we don't get Angel back but Angelus. And there is no powerful witch in the neighbourhood. Considering that Angel has to save LA from hell, I doubt that they will turn him back in Angelus. And it's not like the big powers want Angel to be a vampire, because they made him human in the first place. So the way it happened in IWRY, won't happen this time.
I hope that Lorne doesn't die. He is the only one left of Angel's friends.
