Okay so I heard about this the other day and forgot to make a thread about it so I'm doing that now. Apparently in Japan they have created something called the Robot Girlfriend. It will kiss you when in it's "love mode" and it apparently acts like a real girlfriend. Now granted this robot is only 15 inches tall but come on! Really?! They're making robot girlfriends for men. How ridiculous is that? Pretty soon they'll figure out a way to make life size versions which will be even creepier! *shudders* What do you guys think, creepy or a perfectly fine use of money? My vote: creepy.

i think it's waaay creepy.

but it's things like this that allow research into technologically developing fields. the technology involved in the processes in this robot will most probably come into some vital technology in the future. and projects such as this are a starter in terms of funding for larger projects. i think they need to make it appealing to certain markets to obtain funding from large investment companies, so i can imagine they've pitched this idea to certain toy companies.

sorry, it's sort of the field i'm going into when i start uni. depending on which way i take my course/ degree, hehe.

Considering what was seen in Buffy I think it's somewhat funny, but then I realise that this is actually serious and these things do exist and that's when the creep-factor starts to happen, I mean, come on, like they don't have better things to be spending money on?

But from a technical point of view it shows a great advance in the technology that is at use and further digging into such things may lead to further discoveries considering such things, maybe one day in the future we'll all have our own robots, kind of like the Jetsons, but obviously without the flying cars.

Seriously, what is anyone going to do with a 15 inch robot? A better question, why would you want one? It's not even a sexy robot! It look like one of those Robosapien things.

The Fembots were pretty cool. I wish mine were guns. That would be pretty sweet. Catch some creepy guy staring and them and WHAM! Spray of bullets come blasting out. That would be .

I was trying to find this video from Live with Regis and Kelly where they went to this technology show and they had this robot girl who actaully looked like a real person but I can't find the vid of it. Just think if they took the life size real looking robot and did the same thing with it like they did the 15 incher. CREEPY!!!
