Two Issues I'm Blah About...

Sorry if this is something that can't be changed but I noticed to different things that aren't are too...short compared to Buffyworld and I was hoping that they could be lengthened:

1. Signatures. It says only 4 lines is permitted. Only Buffyworld I know it was longer. At the moment I can only fit 3 and a banner here. On Buffyworld I could fit at least 4 and a banner. Is there a way this could limit could be...made less limiting? I have a site, banner credit, a fanfic, and the occasional random thing like a challenge or battle to link to/put in my siggy. Maybe lengethening the sig line limit to 5?

2. PM length. On Buffyworld I could send a 55+ page word document in 12 point font "Times New Roman" with multiple spaces and whatnot to somebody in one PM. Here, I can only send roughly half of that in one PM. I don't know what the limit was on Buffyworld or what it is here but it is a hassle of sorts to send half of a fanfic to an editor in one PM, wait 60 seconds, and then send the second half (with the possibility of repeating this process again if it's a REALLY long story) just to fill up another members PM box faster. So maybe making increasing the amount of words/characters permitted in a PM?

Sorry if these are...petty issues. But they've been bothing me the past while when trying to do the things I need ( Funny to use that word when it's not really 100% necessary) to do on here. And if they can't be changed, then no biggie. I'll deal like I am now. But yeah...I'm done being greedy.

I don't think you should feel petty for bringing it up. Although this is a new forum, it came about because of BW and as such, we all had gotten used to the way things worked there.

I, for one, would be fine with adding another line for sigs. As for PMs, I am sure it something Nikki could look into. I just don't think she has been able to tweak every variable to the forum yet...since there are so many things. I know in other threads we are all talking about what is missing or what we miss. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I don't think you should feel petty for bringing it up.

Don't worry about things like this. They take me five minutes to change and I don't know to do them until someone brings it up!

So you now get 5 lines of text and a banner and there is no limit on text in private messages

And thanks for making me feel better about asking about this, Jenni. I just wasn't sure if it was like...something Nikki set herself for a reason or if it was just a forum default. And I didn't wanna go questioning Nikki's reasons for setting the limit at what it was. Hence the fear of coming across as...petty and stupid.

Another thing I noticed, we can only have 250 characters in our sig. I'm pretty sure we were allowed 300 at BW.

I increased the characters in signatures to 300 excluding BB Code for non VIPs

Nikki, one small thing....I can't live without the "new posts" button, I think it's my favourite function! On BW, it showed the new, unread posts, but the most recent ones stuck also after you read them. Here, on the other hand, once you read a new post, it doesn't appear anymore...it's not a big deal, but it was so much more convenient to just click on new posts, and have all the most recent conversations you were taking part in (like the chat thread), instead of going back everytime to the main page... is there a way to change this? If not, I totally understand, and I'll deal! Thanks!

I've been looking for this Francy because I hate that too, and I hate having the 'these threads have been updated but not visited since your last visit' threads, there is a reason I haven't read them and I hate them sticking on that page!!

So I'll let you know when I have some luck with that option

Is anyone else having the same problem when trying to edit their posts that sometimes it says it is saving changes but never does? It makes that swirly thing, says it is saving but nothing happens and in the end I just make changes, cut the words out my post, delete that post and have to paste them in a new post instead. Sometimes it works but very rarley, is the editing doing this to anyone else?

Not to me, well not that I've noticed. Although sometimes I click the edit button but it doesn't let me change and I have to refresh the page, is that part of your problem?

Mogs, when you get that, just click "Advanced" and your edits will appear in the full editor, then you can submit.

It happens to me too. Not very often, but usually at the most annoying of times. If it does, I hit stop and just click the "Go Advanced" button and my changes are still there.

If you are having trouble with the in thread editing interface then I suggest you just hit "Go advanced" immediately when wanting to edit and just skip the in thread editing dialogue.

Yeah that little editor box that first comes up is only really good if you have made a small post and are editing it. A large post it takes a long time so it's easier just to go quickly to 'go advanced'

Well if you have nothing in your signature and post a bit, then put something in your signature, that something won't show up in the posts you made before putting anything in because if you go to the full 'post reply' you'll see one of the boxes is 'show signature' and if you have nothing it defaults to no. But if you had something in your signature, changed it then the new stuff does show up in all posts. I've just checked, I only put a banner in my sig this weekend and yet posts I made weeks ago show it.

It's just if you've had nothing in before it won't show that. I mentioned it in the FAQ thread because everyone kept asking!!
