Quick (Temporary) Fix for the not-seeing-smileys problem

Ok, it seems as though a few of us are having trouble seeing smileys and read/unread forum images. I think I have found a quick fix, which you'll have to do every time you come to the forum.

Step 1, the only step: Every time you want to view the forum, don't type in the URL of the forum (https://www.buffyforums.net/<page for specific forum or thread>). This includes just after you change the style from the index page (bottom left corner menu). Instead, you'll have to go to the BuffyForums domain home, http://buffyforums.net, and click on the image to get to the index. From there you can click on a link to any forum or thread without the smileys, banner, and other forum images disappearing. But if you leave the forum - to go to another site, or just closing the window - you'll have to do the same thing over again, going to the home page and clicking on the image. Remember - Don't just type in the URL for the forum index!

I've found this to work after a few tries with other methods, and hope it's helpful. If it's not, just post in/lock/delete the thread/PM me and I'll look for other client side ways to stop the bug.

I can actually see the smilies. But I cannot see the index page image. I use Firefox. I don't know why it is; I didn't check the coding or anything. But I assume there are at least a few others who cannot see it.

I'm assuming that means the image on buffyforums.net which is the link to the forums. That happens a bit for me too. Just move your mouse around until you see the link-cursor if you want to go to the forums page...I don't know a whole lot else about it.

Yes, I too cannot see the forums buttons. I just see red x's, though some are red x's with whatever the buttons are used for (like, "Reply")

okay, i may have found a solution. You may have your internet browser set to block images from buffyforums.net or whatever site Nikki has the images hosted on. I suspect photobucket, but it could be misplaced.co.uk

I'm using Firefox so I'll explain what I did to show the buttons and smilies.
Click "Tools" in the top menu.
Choose "Options"
"Load Images Automatically" should be checked. To the right of it click "Exceptions"
There will be a list of pages which are blocked. Just delete the site name or change it to "Allow"

In the alternative, add buffyforums.net as a site which is allowed.

I did everything posted here and wah lah! I can see the images finally in Firefox We'll see how long this lasts though.

Jenni Lou and digitalMindy: you can also try typing in the URL with a www. at the front, that also worked for some strange reason...apparently I can only see the image on the home page if I use www.buffyforums.net instead of just buffyforums.net.
