BW thread problems

    BW thread problems

    I am having trouble accessing most threads on BW. I get error messages similar to those that appear when BW is down. I am sure I am not the only one. Anyway, I really want to look at the fanart challenges and stuff but I can't. So I was wondering if maybe we could ask the thread starters to post their challenges over here.

    This BW stuff is really annoying. I am this close to abandoning it for good. Now it's to the point that I can't even look at posts during the uptime!!!!

    I support that idea! Maybe we could PM the artists that run challenges at the moment and ask them to post their challenges here as well. It has to be frustrating for the people, cause their challenges are interrupted all the time and they miss out on entries, which really isn't fair, considering the hard work that goes into creating a challenge!

    I am actually prepared to give up BW as well. I see really no reason to support a board that isn't taken care of.

      I don't even think Mark knows that loads of pages on BW don't load, I've PMed him but I don't know when he'll see it /sigh

      What's also fustrating with the challenges is that I can't view the first page of the organising challenges thread to copy it over here!

        oh no!! As far as the order of the next people running them, I know I am still like 10 people down or something.

        I think we might have to consider restarting that if the thread issue isn't fixed soon enough...just so that we can get back to a natural state of things. :/ Sooner or later it's just going to come down to staying the course at BW or drifting away to BFN (BForumsNet ). This whole juggling back between the two is going to get more than obnoxious.

        I know Mark doesn't want to let BW go but if he can't find a permanent fix he could always just wipe the forum out and start again. It wouldn't be the first time he's done that anyway...

        I still think the problem might be an outdated MySQL on the server. Maybe it was never upgraded. And is the VBulletin software up to date? That may cause some strange issues as well. It can't be the size of the db because there are loads of other forums that are way bigger that function properly.

          The VBulletin software is pretty up to date on BW. I know we had a new version installed last year, this is the same version but an upgrade, here is 3.6.4 and BW is 3.0.6. I think installing the upgrades takes a lot of time on such a big forum and I know Mark hosts it on his own server which may not be completely up to date. I just don't think he really has/cares to put the time into it.

          I'm happy to restart the organising challenges thread here and getting the battles going as they were. I want to have as much here so when BW is down this place runs almost the same. As for leaving BW completely I'm really going to be considering it soon if nothing happens, but I won't ever ask others to do the same. I will keep this place going as well as I can.

            Of course not. But for me, I think it's just a matter of time. Especially once this place picks up. I just don't see resolution coming soon for BW.
