    Hmmm...

In my User CP and Edit Avatar, where it gives the option to browse and upload an avatar, underneath that at the very bottom it says:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or ____ KB (whichever is smaller) You can check there to see what your limit is.

And I usually try to be underneath all forum kb restrictions by 5-10% just to make sure that the file fits. When you push the actual limits it can get wonky.

Yeah, mine still says 48.8 kb. I don't know maybe it takes a little while before it changes or something.

No, mine also says 48.8 KB, and I've been VIP for a year

Lyn, maybe that's just for moderators?

No. I'd say that's right. It's only 10,000 for non VIP. So you've already been elevated. Besides, I was going to guess 40-45 before I checked.

If you have an avatar that's more than that, then post it in the avatar thread in the Misc section and I can change the kb size for you.

No Lyn I've had 48.8 kb the entire time I've been on BF! It hasn't changed.

Oh! Well then, Nikki must have been generous when we moved over. At BW it was 9.7 kb for non-vip.

Pretty much any non moving avatar should easily fit under 20 kb. If if it is bigger than than that the kb size can usually be shrunk without noticeably losing resolution.

We moved servers in the early hours of yesterday morning so all posts for a few hours were lost unfortunately.

I noticed that we used to be able to see who was else was viewing a thread you were in, by scrolling down to the bottom of the page. I no longer have that anymore? Is that just me or is it gone for good?

Yep I removed that. The server load for the forum is off the scales high. To avoid me paying double for hosting I've had to make some cut backs to reduce the load.

Yeah, I was wondering that too. (Vampmogs question, that is.) Nikki, what are the costs like, can I ask? I know the shiny beautiful new site () has the option of contributing, but just wondering what these costs end up as... ?

Well at the moment I pay £100 a year for the site and license, but the forum has grown fast and they want me to pay £25 a month instead.. so it would be a huge costly jump if I can't do little things to reduce the server load. I've done a lot of behind the scenes stuff and it has dropped. Hopefully this will be enough to sustain us for a while!

Oh ok. I was just curious, and yeah anything to cut costs is a good thing. Thanks

I'm currently trying to upload a new avatar, whenever I try to upload it from a link from Photobucket, I get this message:
Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file.
Whenever I attempt to upload from my computer, I get this message:
This is not a valid image file.
Whenever I try to upload a different avatar, I get the same messages.

Does anyone know what's going on?

Yeah this seems to be one of the bugs the server move brought up. Only found out about it this evening and will try and get it fixed tomorrow

Hey is anyone else having problems with the forum? It works fine for a little while then becomes really slow and won't load pages or anything. It's only this site I seem to be having trouble with, is it just me?

No, it's not just you, I've noticed the same thing, couldn't even post replies in the AFA section this morning. Probably this has something to do with the server move, too.

The server appears to be running some process that are taking us up to 60% memory useage. I'm sure it'll be done soon Being new it's got lots of stuff to set up still and I'm slowly getting the hang of understanding it!

I have a question %) Is there any way to un-subscribe from the thread I had replied to some time ago? I'm no longer interested in the discussion, and notifications I keep receiving are kind of starting to annoy me

I'm not very familiar with subscriptions, but I think this should work.

In your UserCP, on the left menu, click on "Edit Subscriptions". This will bring up all your subscribed threads. To the right of each, is a check box. Check each one you want to edit and in the bottom right underneath the list is a drop down menu. Select an option to change your subscription preferences or simply delete it. After choosing the option, hit the "Go" button.

    Hope that works.
