I'm freaking out!! Fran Kranz and Allie!? It gives me Cabin in the Woods vibes.

When Allie said, "Sam," I first thought she said, "Xan."

Apparently the makers began it as a twitter film, which I didn't even know was possible, but producers saw it and thought they could make a real movie from it.

I wonder if Allie visited the set of Much Ado About Nothing or if she knew Fran before filming this.

The movie even fits Whedon's tradition of genderless names. Allie's character is named Chuck. Seriously, that blows my mind. Chuck!? That is too masculine for most truck drivers.

This looks... interesting. I wonder if it's another parody or a real horror film. I Still can't get over that parody film she did in 2005... Probably didn't help her movie career move forward.

The acclaimed, indie horror comedy You Might Be the Killer has been building buzz at film festivals in recent months — but now the project has landed distribution and is actually set to premiere this weekend on SYFY.

The network is set to debut You Might Be the Killer at 7 p.m. on Saturday night, giving fans outside the festival circuit a chance to see what all the fuss is about. The movie actually started off as a meta joke between Chuck Wendig and Sam Sykes, telling the silly story of a cliched camp killer from the perspective of the unwitting murderer. It was a hoot, and quietly landed a film deal. The movie version stars Whedon-verse alums Fran Kranz (Dollhouse, The Cabin in the Woods) and Alyson Hannigan (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and was directed by Brett Simmons (Husk).

Critics have praised the project as a wacky, clever, self-aware twist on some tried and true horror cliches, framing the story around Kranz’s recounting of the tale and Hannigan’s advice as they start to realize that Kranz’s character might not just be caught in a horror movie — but causing one. It should make for a nice pre-Halloween appetizer, so be sure to set your DVR. Oh, and if you haven’t read the viral Twitter thread, check that out as well.

You Might Be the Killer premieres 7 p.m. Saturday on SYFY.
