Day 9 - Favourite Male Character Angel. He became a lot more fleshed out, complex and interesting on AtS, with the flashbacks, exploration of his relationship with Darla, his history with her, Dru and Spike, other aspects of his history (such as Are You Now or Have You Ever Been?) filling the gaps in his 100 years as a souled vampire, his morally ambiguous arcs (the season 2 is my favorite).

I completely forgot about that, even now I can't remember it.
You keep waiting for the dust to settle and then you realize it; the dust is your life going on. If happy comes along - that weird unbearable delight that's actual happy - I think you have to grab it while you can. You take what you can get, 'cause it's here, and then...gone.

Day 9 It has to be Angel because we get to see such depth in the character. The ties to his human self that are evident in him souled and unsouled, the character continuity throughout, is layered and fascinating. The dramatic shifts he shows make such sense when considering his personality and background. It's this aspect that both souled vampires benefit massively from as the flashbacks allow such interesting additional layers. The fact that we get to see so much about who he was, where he has come from and specifics of what he's been through really scaffolds giving us true depth of understanding as to why he responds in different ways to wants and pressures in his life and how and why he both succeeds and struggles as he does. I love Wes and Connor in AtS too, both are in fact verse faves for me, but neither can meet the complexity with which we get to know Angel.
