Happy Victoria Day everyone. In Canada this is the long weekend that launches the summer. Hope you're getting a stat (statutory) holiday too.

Not today. We get our next Bank Holiday on the 27th. So enjoy today for all of us non-Canadians

Does it seem odd you're celebrating banks and we're celebrating Queen Victoria's bday?

Do we? Thanks for the reminder!

    This is funny.

I'm not laughing at NF but at his claim that “Sadly some remainers have become radicalised, to the extent that normal campaigning is becoming impossible". It was a milk-shake - not a Molotov Cocktail! Next thing you know "radicalised" Southerners will be talking to each other on the tube! Makes me proud to be British!

I can't actually condone it but it's all getting a bit silly. MacDonalds were asked to stop selling milkshakes if there was a rally nearby. As far as I know, Burger-king refused to comply with the request. The world's going to hell in a handcart!

Hmm...I've just bought a Kindle Fire because my ipad was irritating me. Now I'm irritated with the Fire because it's not my ipad. For a start - it's a stupid shape - either the Fire's too narrow or the ipad's too wide. And...I've got to re-tap to find my stored books etc. Why is everything so unsatisfactory...and so hard? I'm really disillusioned with modernity. I think I want a car with a choke lever and wind-down windows.

Oh a choke . . . I never drove a car with one, but I have fond memories of my mum and granddad pulling and pushing on the choke, swearing up a storm, trying to get the car to start . . . good times

Yep - good times. The heater packed up on a regular basis; there was no central locking and hubcaps were plastic but you knew where you were with a choke and an 8 track tape player. I can't leave the house in the morning without charging at least four pieces of tech the night before!

I'm pretty sure we were supposed to have flying cars by now. Back to the future promised them.

Back to the Future? I've been waiting for them since 1962! I never learned to parallel park because I was promised cars that folded into a suitcase!

This all reminds me of a scene from West Wing (sorry no vid)...

Leo: My generation never got the future it was promised. Thirty-five years later, cars, air travel is exactly the same. We don't even have the Concorde anymore. Technology stopped.
    Josh: The personal computer.
Leo: A more efficient delivery system for gossip and pornography? Where's my jet pack? My colonies on the Moon?

Love it! If we can't go forward we might as well go backwards. I'm gonna be first in the queue for a quill and a horse. If the horse fits in a suitcase, so much the better.

Funnel Cakes are elaborate doughnuts! I'm well disappointed by this! It's a doughnut made by dropping the batter through a funnel. So it's a doughnut made by someone who can't be arsed to find a proper ring doughnut dropper thingy?

Me too...and I wanted it to be so much more than an elaborate, bird's nest doughnut. Why is life full of these little let-downs? Moreover, why is a funnel cake kicking Andrew's arse? Apparently, it can be made of batter or choux pastry, neither of which is difficult (I say this with more experience of eating cakes than making them). It's all very...unsatisfactory.

Well I think the easiness of making them might be the joke? That a funnel cake would only kick the arse of the most inadequate of bakers

There's a Disney blog that mentions Funnel Cakes. http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/funnel-cakes/

Apparently, "Food is a Theme Park". There's a guide to "Funnel Cake Kiosks".

The internet is truly a wonderful instrument. God-given for the benefit and advancement of humankind.

Can't make a funnel cake; kicks off about fruit pockets; in awe of bloomin' onions, then enthuses over apples. Can't help thinking we're missing something vitally important here. Apples were a sign of man's downfall... perhaps non-sugary, fresh foods are a sign of Andrew's redemption?

Possibly it's about Andrew's redemption. Does he talk about food in Season 6? I can't remember. Is his association with food (ooo, don't forget slaughtering a pig, that's food related) only in Season 7?
