I've definitely seen this being remarked on before, or have done myself, not sure. I can't remember if it was in the rewatch or elsewhere (or both). I think it's a link which can be seen to show both Buffy's disquiet at what she has done/the relationship that she doesn't think is good or viable and how much it hurt her when Angel said that. She is intentionally looking to hit back at Spike and trying to gain distance by hurting him/verbally pushing him away.

I think saying 'here endeth the lesson' is a common phrase used to indicate the person speaking is coming from a position of knowledge/authority, the tone being that of an old fashioned sermon when taking a passage from the bible.

That's great and I don't think that counts as being unhappy with you.

Nah...that's not proper annoyance - that's simulated annoyance. That emoji is gonna do itself a serious injury one day! Thing is - I can totally imagine you jumping up and down like that.

I was looking for the thread about plot-holes in Buffy (can't find it)- I'm not sure this counts as a plot hole but it just occurred to me...I was reading the rewatch and watched parts of S6 again, and there's something that doesn't add up.

When Riley returns, it's one year after he left. Sam reveals to Buffy that what Riley needed was time - lots of time - and that it took Riley "one year" to get over her. When Buffy asks Riley how long he and Sam have been married, he says "four months."

So - he was still "getting over" Buffy when he was marrying Sam? Even if he'd been away for 14 months, it seems odd to get married JUST when he's getting over her -after one year passes. And why would Sam be OK with much of their early discussions involving his ex? (I wonder what Riley related to her about the relationship. It doesn't sound like he told her much about his cheating, it sounds more like he presented himself neutrally as the one left feeling hurt - Sam says confidently "there's no bad guys in this one, Buffy." ) The more I think about it, the more implausible and bizarre I find the Sam-Riley relationship - especially when it's presented as something stable and to be admired/ emulated when really - from what I've gathered - he spent a year getting over Buffy and in the midst of that - or immediately after - married Sam.
I want the fire back. - Buffy Summers

I think that Sam accepts that Riley will never fully get-over Buffy (doesn't she say something to that effect?). Riley's behaviour is that of a man who is still either in love, or at least crushing on, his ex. It could be that Sam simply accepts that Riley can love two people at the same time, and that she's the one he's married to, and she's the one he'll be leaving with.

I don't think the audience is being asked to like Sam/Riley, because Sam is not a real person. She's simple perfect in every way, and I wonder if she was just in the same corps as Riley and he asked her to pretend to be his wife and play a role
