Lost Season 5 would be Whatever, Happened Happened. Fitz now knows the machine was finished by Deke's father. If it's WHH then Flashback-Fitz shouldn't be wondering who would carry on after they are gone; as it seems they spent their lives making the plans before they could actually create it.

Flashback-Elena was tired of Robin babbling about Flint; like they didn't know who she was talking about. Again if it's WHH then she should already know and this plan Old Robin told May would have failed but it seems like this is the first time Robin's ever put it all together.

The only way it could work is if "the aftermath" is not related to the future at all. Something bad must have happened that they evacuated a town for Daisy to quake, knowing the possible "afterrmath" of destroying the world; but willing to chance it because the threat near the town was worse.

Flashback Elena knew who Flint was. She shouted: "There is no Flint! Seriously, she needs to stop talking about people who won't be born for another 50 years." How would she know Flint was someone from the future (and even his approximate age when they meet him in the future) if she hadn't remembered who he was?

Flashback Fitz and May clearly had been to the future and knew what would happen. Fitz shouted that they were in a "time loop" and that they have tried to save the world already, and failed. "We couldn't change it, Voss couldn't change it, even Daisy couldn't change it. She saw the aftermath, and she still destroyed the world." He's referring to Voss, the guy who would try to kill/has tried to kill Daisy in this episode in order to prevent her from going back to 2017/18 and destroying the world. And flashback Fitz also clearly implied that Daisy had been to the future, seen the ruined Earth, came back to prevent it and still destroyed it.

Their problem is exactly that, at the moment, it seems that "Whatever happened, happened" is the rule. That's why Flashback Fitz was so frustrated. He was yelling that they can't change the time and can't break from the time loop. But for the storyline to be resolved somehow (and not be totally depressing, as well as in contradiction to the rest of the MCU), they will have to find a way to somehow 'change time' - the exact same thing Fitz is saying can't be done.

You keep waiting for the dust to settle and then you realize it; the dust is your life going on. If happy comes along - that weird unbearable delight that's actual happy - I think you have to grab it while you can. You take what you can get, 'cause it's here, and then...gone.

OK you have me with Voss but the "Who will carry on after us?" bit still doesn't make sense because Voss told Fitz about Deke's father. You would think if Fitz could leave weapons in place for around 70 years then the team could have somehow left themselves a note about how the first plan failed.

OK the VFX guy says this is an alternate timeline after all. And as pointed out, why would May, Simmons etc be flying with Robin to the Lighthouse when last we saw Robin was already there with Hunter? https://www.reddit.com/r/shield/comments/7rvxs4/vfx_supervisor_of_aos_says_flashback_is_what/

What he says doesn't make any sense. Not buying it, as it contradicts what's actually on screen.

Sorry, I don't think Mark Kolpack is a credible source of info on what is going on. He's not a writer. He doesn't even need to understand what's going on to do his job. That's if he even paid attention to/understood what he was asked in the first place.

And that's not the first time he's talked to fans on Twitter about the storylines and seemed clueless. During season 4, he was arguing with some fans and said Fitz' father wasn' abusive, it was just how parent/child relationships were back in the old days.
