    Default Spoilers & Speculations Thread

    Hey all

As I noticed a request from some users in the VIP forum for a spoilers and speculation thread out here in the main area of the forum I decided to take the liberty of making one myself. Hey all just added to the opening post the official CW synopsis for 8x20 Pac Man Fever

DEAN INTRODUCES CHARLIE TO CHEAP PANTSUITS — Concerned about the physical toll the second trial took on Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) benches his brother from hunting until he heals up. So, when geektastic hacker Charlie (guest star Felicia Day) stumbles upon a case and finds the boys, Dean decides it’s time to teach Charlie how to be a hunter-in-training. While happy to see “her highness,” the boys suspect Charlie is hiding something; a secret that could get her killed.
Personally I think this episode sounds pretty interesting as for one we get to see the return of Charlie who I've rather enjoyed in both her appearances so far And I find the idea of Dean benching Sam from hunting while he takes a break from hunting completely plausible and in line with his behaviour in Goodbye Stranger. What do you guys think is going to happen with Sam this episode as surely they won't just show Sam sitting somewhere bored the whole time? Think they'll have him do something completely separate to Dean and Charlie's hunt, or do you think Dean will be forced to let Sam join in as Charlie ends up disappearing or being seriously injured during the episode?

Oh yes I saw this before but since I couldn't find a link till you posted this confirming Curtis Armstrong as Metatron didn't add it to the opening post!

As for your question based on the clearly laughing Misha in the first picture I have a feeling that this was shopping being done between takes rather than for the episode itself Although show wise it could fit in very well with Castiel at the moment what with the fact that based on him travelling via bus at the end of Goodbye Stranger despite angel's general adverseness to such 'slow' travel. Maybe Metatron is giving Castiel lessons on how to live as a human...

I hope the description of Metatron as a type of Obi-Wan Kenobi means that he is going to be an actual good angel rather than a douchebag like Zachariah and that this means we won't see Castiel in too much conflict with the brothers for choosing to work alongside him to presumably protect the tablet

Also who is everyone speculating the actor with a knife to be?

Just added some new spoilers about 8x21 The Great Escapist including its synopsis and guest stars!

FEELING LUCKY TONIGHT? — When Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) receive a distressing video message from Kevin Tran (guest star Osric Chau), they set about trying to uncover the Third Trial. The boys make a discovery that sends them to a casino in Colorado, to find a mysterious recluse (guest star Curtis Armstrong) who may be able to fill in the holes in Kevin's research. Meanwhile, Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard) is on a winning streak. Castiel (Misha Collins) tries to elude Naomi (guest star Amanda Tapping) and the angels hunting him.
EDIT: Got some new pictures from the next episode! I'm going to put them in spoiler tags simply for browsing the thread convenience

    Spoiler:

    [LINK]

All I can say about those pictures is that Dean has become one hell of a hugging whore this season and I'm curious to see is it Charlie or something else that Sam is looking at as though he absolutely adores it in the picture below!

Another new spoiler has come through courtesy of S.E Hinton a frequent visitor to the SN set! Either 8x21 or 8x22 (she was at filming for both) will feature a character 'thought long gone'. As she mentions in her tweet that the episode features a new character and we know 8x21 marks Metatron's first appearance I am going to assume this was the episode she's referring to

    Time for a little speculation!

Bittersweettwit brought to my attention a post from Tumblr (x):

But what if the next trial is sacrificing an angel’s grace

FIRST TRIAL was something FROM HELL

SECOND TRIAL was something FROM HELL TO HEAVEN.

THIRD TRIAL was something FROM HEAVEN

I’ve been thinking this for a long time, and with the finale being titled Sacrifice, I think this is pretty much set in stone (ha! see what I did there?) now. We must prepare for the feels…

    -----

As much as I'd personally enjoy such a scenario, I don't think it's going to happen, at least not as third trial.

We have been told so far that Sam must go through the trials, and pass them. Making the third trial the sacrifice of an angel grace would completely strip Sam of its agency in the trial, because it would depend on Cas' choice. Besides, I doubt that the writers are going to give such a key plot point to Cas... it's always going to be Sam or Dean who do the heroic sacrificing.

I'm of two minds on this theory on the one hand it's a plausible theory for me as we know in the past writers have complained in their interviews about Cas being hard to write for due to how powerful he is as an angel! So making him a human is certainly a great way of getting rid of that in time for Misha returning as a series regular in season nine... On the other hand since the character has been such a fundamental part of the mytharc for seasons now are the writers prepared for the change of status quo and use of the character a human Cas would require?

In regards to your issue Francy I think it depends on how they word the trials... For instance Jared said in an interview a few months back he feels Sam would sacrifice Castiel if he felt it was required for a task as big as closing the gates of hell... So they could still make it so that Sam is the one who somehow takes away Castiel grace without Cas' knowledge until it's too late... The episode could even be set up with Sam thinking he's going to be killing Cas by doing so only for us to find out at the end of the episode it actually resulted in a human Cas...

Of course as you know I love team free will and certainly wouldn't want Sam to be forced to do such a thing especially as I'd imagine it could make relations between the two strained into season nine, but its just an example of how Cas could lose his grace and it's still Sam completing the trial and playing an active part

I certainly wouldn't like that. If Cas is to fall (which I hope...most of the times), I want it to be his choice. Much of his arc on the show has been about free will, and in season 8 about his lack of agency. I don't want him to be stripped of choice again, I want him to have agency over such a huge turning point in his life, and I want the choice to be his, simple as that!! Also because it's much more meaningful if he chooses to give up his grace, as opposed to be forcefully robbed of it. I will be very disappointed (even mad) if things work out differently...

So, I have no idea what this third trial will be, or what will happen in the finale.. I'm hopeless at speculating.

Double posting (well, if someone else beside Bittersweettwit and I doesn't start posting in this thread, it's going to happen a lot lol) for this new spoilery thing. Suspicious tweet from Osric Chau (Kevin)

    Spoiler:

He could just be messing, but many people have decided that Kevin is not going to survive the season. Which I wouldn't like, but it wouldn't really surprise me, since this show kills off everyone. Kevin really doesn't deserve to die, though... so I hope Osric is just winding everyone up!

Haha this thread's like our exclusive club... Is there some barrier on the home page and only Destiel fans can pass it? (I kid, I kid for anyone besides me and Francy reading come post!)

Anyways to get back on topic I read somewhere that filming for the season is apparently due to finish next week so I imagine he's probably referring to that, but knows how his comments could be taken and enjoys winding up the fans Of course Kevin still could be killed off especially due to the spoilers I'm about to post which makes the characters myth-arc role kinda redundant now

‘SUPERNATURAL’ CASTS “NERD” CURTIS ARMSTRONG AS METATRON

‘Supernatural‘ will reprise one of its favorite guest stars when nerd goddess Felicia Day makes her third appearance in upcoming April 24 episode “Pac-Man Fever,’ but its latest casting is a divine nerd all his own. ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ star Curtis Armstrong has been announced to appear in May 1 episode “The Great Escapist” as God’s go-to angel “Metatron,” but will he be able to help Sam and Dean with the trials? Get a sneak peek of ‘Supernatural’s endgame inside!

The ‘Supernatural’ war between angels and demons will surely heat up when the long-running CW returns for its final four episodes of the season on April 25, and the CW has tapped some serious ‘Revenge’ for the fight. Via TVLine, we’ve learned that ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ star and beloved comic actor Curtis Armstrong will appear as Metatron, historically known as the personal scribe of God.

Seen as something of a cross between Obi-Wan Kenobi and ‘The Usual Suspects’ Verbal Kint/Keyser Soze, Metatron will reluctantly aid the boys when they seek help decrypting the third trial, now that Kevin Tran has gone missing. In addition to appearing in the final three episodes of the season, Armstrong’s role may recur into the ninth year as well.

We’ve included pictures of the May 1 episode featuring Curtis Armstrong below, so have a look and tell us how you think ‘Supernatural’ will close out season 8!

So it has been confirmed now that Curtis Armstrong will be playing Metatron which makes these pictures all the more interesting! An arch-angel with a gun when he should be able to just wipe the boys out of existence with a single thought, what could this mean?

Personally I have two theories a) Metatron has completely lost his angelic abilities and is for all intents and purposes a human now! Although still pretty valuable to both sides due to the close relationship he once shared with God as his scribe before God went MIA or b) Like Cas at the end of 8x17 in order to keep himself undetected from Naomi and other hostile forces he has been forced to live as a human including using human means to defend himself? To link in the other photos we've seen of Misha and Curtis shopping (which I still think were probably taken between scenes) if they are indeed apart of the show maybe Metatron was teaching Cas how to live around humans without seeming conspicuous including daily routine things like food shopping?

I hope especially if it's the ladder and Metatron has been actively hiding out that it turns out Cas finds him and informs the boys of his location rather than they just happen to find a clue that by chance leads them to the tablets writers in another lucky coincidence

If Castiel loses his Grace and becomes human, its another clue to the theory that the Future we saw in The End is the actual future we may see?

Hmm I think in some ways the show could nicely parallel with 'The End' for instance the Dean of season eight shares several characteristics with future Dean such as an openness to torture as demonstrated on multiple occasions this season including the most recent episode and he's certainly more willing to sacrifice innocents for the sake of the mission! So they could certainly add to that by having Castiel fall and become human as in 'The End' verse.

Beyond that however I do not think that they will make 'The End' the actual future! For instance Sam has already said yes to Lucifer and proved to have the stronger will in Swan Song and him and Dean are still working together unlike in The End where they'd been separated for years! So yeah I could see the current time-line having similarities but no I think the time for The End future as shown in that episode being a legit future has passed

Due to some tweets by Taylor Cole, there's now speculation about Sarah Blake from Provenance possibly coming back!!!

I hope so!!! I really liked her, and she's ALWAYS been my number one pick for Sam!! They may just be bringing her back for a one-off, and in that case I seriously hope that they are not going to bring her back just to kill her off.

It would really be great, for this fan, if they brought her back to eventually be Sam's endgame (Amelia was badly received, so they might not want to continue with that storyline)...but it would be too good to be true, so I don't believe that's the case!

So we all survived the Buffyforums apocolypse And I welcome you all back with some lovely new spoilers

Taylor Cole (The Glades) will reprise her role as Sarah Blake, the art gallery owner Sam clicked with in Season 1 (!) — and she’s “not going to be the only blast from the past” as the CW series wraps up Season 8, expecutive producer Jeremy Carver tells TVLine.

“The reappearance of old friends is somewhat related to the trials, and not in a very good way,” teases the EP.
“I can tell you that if you think we’re going far back [in the show's history] with Sarah, keep going. We go back further than Sarah.”

Meanwhile, Carver dishes that the end of the current season will see some resolution to this season’s major arc, which in recent weeks has found Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) completing series of complex trials in order to close the gates of Hell. (Not up to date? Refresh with our recaps.)

“Inevitably, this is all leading to a big conclusion with Crowley,” he says. “I think we’re going to see Crowley rising to a new level of ruthlessness we haven’t seen before in order to defend himself and his kingdom, as it were.”
He adds: “I think we’re going to see Crowley presented with a new twist on things that will effect him forever, as well.”

    Man of Letters Will Return

Supernatural Season 8 bringing back new ‘Men Of Letters’ drama before it wraps, new spoiler. Recently, TV Line dished out some new, “Supernatural” season 8 ,spoilery dish in their recent spoiler chat session, and it turns out that we’re going to see some new info on that whole “Men Of Letters” arc they introduced a few episodes back with the whole grandfather drama. We’re going to see both negative and positive aspects of that particular legacy.

Here’s what they had to say about it in their spoiler session statement, ” Given what a winning introduction the Men of Letters received earlier this year, surely that’s not the last we’ve seen or heard of the secret organization, right? Right… ish. “We will absolutely see the positive and negative effects of being legacies,” says EP Jeremy Carver, adding that MoL “are involved in some capacity” later this season.”
    8x22 Clip Show Synopsis
FAMILIAR FACES RETURN AS THE THIRD TRIAL NEARS — Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) reunite with Castiel (Misha Collins). Digging through the Men of Letters’ files, they stumble upon an undiscovered film which could be the key to the third trial. Metatron (guest star Curtis Armstrong) enlists Cass to mull over problems at home. Meanwhile, Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard) digs into Sam and Dean's past. Taylor Cole, Graham Wardle, and Cindy Busby also guest star. Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb (#822).
I looked it up on the wikia and the other guest stars are Tommy Collins (Wendigo) and Jenny Klein (Shut Up Dr. Phil). The common thread between the three appears to be that they were all saved by the brothers from monsters in some capacity... Could the third trial be that Sam has to commit a great evil by killing them to close the gates

    New Episode Clip for 8x20
Two things about this clip... First of all I'm being really superifical in saying I hate Jared's new hair cut as shown in this clip! It looks disgusting... I want his lovely long hair back damn it And secondly I'm now beginning to think maybe they are planning on addressing Chuck this season or next what with the random name dropping?

I plan to update the opening post later when Im back on the laptop, but here is an official description of season nine released by the CW.

The thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester brothers continues as SUPERNATURAL enters its ninth season. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent their lives on the road, battling every kind of supernatural threat. Over the years, after dozens of bloody adventures, they have faced everything from the yellow-eyed demon that killed their mother to vampires, ghosts, shapeshifters, Angels and fallen gods. They even came face to face with Lucifer and the Four Horsemen in averting the Apocalypse. With the help of allies — both human and supernatural — they’ve discovered that every threat they vanquish opens a new door for evil to enter in. In the show’s eighth season, their supernatural hunting expedition led them directly into an age-old power struggle involving the King of Hell, legions of warrior Angels and a series of divine trials to prove themselves worthy of sealing the Gates of Hell forever. With the help of their protector, the fallen angel Castiel (Misha Collins), Sam and Dean’s lifelong quest to rid the world of evil will take everything they’ve got. As dawn arrives after their endless struggle and sacrifice to defeat the world’s monsters, they know that, come nightfall, something otherworldly — something supernatural — will claw its way out of the shadows, demanding their attention. SUPERNATURAL is from Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (“Charlie’s Angels,” “The O.C.”), Robert Singer (“Midnight Caller”), Jeremy Carver (“Being Human”), Phil Sgriccia and Adam Glass.
Is McG and Sgriccia new excutive producers? And has Adam Glass recieved a promotion?

McG has always been the executive producer. That is why the show is so awesome!!! Or at least started that way when he would have been putting input into shaping the new series for television.

His company is Wonderland Productions the other vanity card following Kripke's scrap meta onel.

I am not sure about Phil Sgriccia, he may have already been exec producer he has been with the show for so long.

Lol, I like the imagery of morning coming as well as something clawing out of the shadows!

    Lydia made the punch!

Ooh picture me embarrassed I was not aware that the show had any executive producers other than Carver and Singer. Do you know how much involvement McG and the other excutive producers are likely to have with the day to day running of the show?

I like the imagery too, but it sounds a little odd in context. The whole imagery suggests of dawn arriving makes it sound as if the end of season eight had involved the boys making a momentous change for the better, but with Sam and Dean's decision to abandon closing the hell gates the status quo has remained and the demons are just as active apart of the world as always?

I'm interested to find out though what the thing that will claw out of the shadows will be... Since the episode explicitly stated that the angels fall will be like Lucifer's I'm assuming they're still going to have their powers intact. Will the season's big bad be the thousands of angels now stuck on earth with no way to return to heaven? Or do you think this season premise is an indication with the dropping of the hell trials and the angels wings clipped they're planning on moving the mytharc away from angels and demons once more?

The show has several executive producers, but Carver has the title of showrunner. I don't think McG and Sgriccia have much influence on the creative process.

I am quite unclear how this whole 'angels falling' thing is supposed to work anyway. I mean, we know that angels need vessels, so what? Are we supposed to believe that all the angels we saw falling at the end of 'Sacrifice' just got consent from their respective vessels? Or will they be reborn as human babies, like Anna?
