    Default Favourite Non-Original Cast Member

A poll is being held to vote for your favourite non-original cast member, closing on the 11th. Plenty of Buffy/Angel are included and at the point I put this up Spike was winning, Fred 5th, Oz 6th, Anya 7th, Lorne 8th, Tara 11th.

    Quick, go vote.

Spike and Castiel are ahead, for now. I'm ok with either one winning, so it's all good!

I'm surprised by the lack of Lost characters. Just Ben in there, but what about Juliet, Mr. Eko, Desmond, Daniel Faraday, Richard Alpert? They are all very popular characters.

Speaking of that website (TVbreakroom.com), there's another list dated June 4th - Top 10 Favorite TV Couples - Speculative (Fiction), voted by the fans (and apparently the victor was 'helped by actor retweets). Buffy and Spike are at #8, Mal and Inara at #9 and Wash and Zoe at #10. The rest are from Once Upon a Time, Dr Who, Merlin The Vampire Diaries and the winner is from Supernatural (which means I don't know them, though it looks like they're the Winchester bros' parents?). http://tvbreakroom.com/top-10-favori...s-speculative/

Apparently, top 20 from this list will compete with top 20 from the so-called realistic shows later on. Here's the entire poll: http://tvbreakroom.com/monday-madnes...s-speculative/

Huh, Willow/Tara weren't even nominated? I'm not even a big fan of the couple, but it's really a surprising omission.

edit: And there's a (confusing) explanation from the author:

Yes, this poll is for guy/girl couples only. But I love Tara’s character (haven’t seen Torchwood yet), and I plan to include her in next week’s poll. It’ll be for characters who joined shows later on (anyone know of a better way to phrase that for the poll?), so be sure to come back and vote Monday!
Unless they're going to be doing a separate same sex couples poll, I gotta wonder why?

And here are the results for the top couples from "realistic" shows (and for most of them, calling them "realistic" is hilarious Of course, they just meant 'non-SF, non-fantasy').http://tvbreakroom.com/top-10-favori...alistic-shows/
    http://tvbreakroom.com/monday-madnes...les-realistic/

(Boo, why are Veronica and Logan so low on the list? How come they didn't qualify?)

Firefly is at #3. I've never heard of the show at #2.

Polls where you can vote for as many options as you like are even more pointless than the usual internet polls.

Though it's hilarious that Angel and Cordelia have like one percent approval rate.

Bones is considered the best long-running show? I couldn't even get past season four and I have watched eight seasons of Charmed and read the Buffy comics...
Xander: "Willow, you are the best human ever! I adore you! Well, that's the cookies talking, but you rock!"

I know what you mean, which is why I only voted for Spike so that I didn't dilute my vote down. Feel a bit guilty for Oz, but only a bit .

I only voted for 1 - Spike But I would also be happy with Castiel. Both are great, but I still love Spike most - IMO, you can't beat the Spike journey story.

A-OK, feel better now voting only for Spike. Wesley is sorely missed on that list.

There's a weird Dark Horse versus between Spike and The Strain http://www.darkhorse.com/Blog/996/da...pike-vs-strain

"In this corner, Buffy's off and on love interest, William the Bloody, Hostile 17, The Blondie Bear of Sunnydale...SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKE!"

I can hear the cheers from DH PR department.
"Gunn dies, Illyria Survives, Spike shanshus, Angel looses an arm and Xander looses an arm too, which is odd because he wasn't even there."

Complete with a pic of the first issue's cover just in case they could be more transparent!! I don't think 'the blondie bear of Sunnydale' is a moniker that Spike would appreciate in any way whatsoever and hardly sets the tone for a vs battle, ha!

And the poll has ended. Yep, Spike won. I took too much time to decide which 10 to vote for so in the end I didn't, but it wouldn't have changed the results anyway.

For the record, if I had voted, I'd have voted certainly for:

    Spike
    Jessica (True Blood)
    Oz
    Anya
    Lorne
    Ben (Lost)
    Gwaine (Merlin)
    Dawn
and then maybe I would've voted for August from Once Upon a Time (but I haven't finished the season yet so I'm not sure yet), Sweets from Bones which I watch occasionally, and I don't know if I'd vote for Tom and Hal from Being Human since I've only started season 4.

The poll is really lacking in Lost characters, the author obviously didn't watch it since she added Ben when someone suggested him, but Lost had a bunch of very popular non-original cast members: Eko, Juliet, Desmond, Daniel Faraday, Miles, Richard Alpert...

I'm a sucker for anything like this. Shame Oz lost to Anya by 4 votes, but I'm glad they were both in the top 5.

The only one that wasn't there that I would have included was Scorpius from Farscape.

There's a new Monday poll - Favorite TV dads. Not that many Buffyverse characters are there for obvious reasons, but Angel is in the running. Rick Castle is currently in the lead, followed by John Winchester from Supernatural and Keith Mars from Veronica Mars. Tony Head's King Uther is also on the list.

Now as I haven't seen all of Angel forgive me for what may in fact be an obvious answer but in what way could Angel be considered a best dad? I thought Connor pretty much despised him, no?

Sorry, my bad. Not Best TV Dads, Favorite TV Dads. Basically, favorite TV characters who are dads.

Anyway, Angel isn't the worst dad on the list by any stretch - it's not like he was a good dad, but it's mostly not his fault. The list has lots of characters who are popular and who are dads, but who are awful fathers - like Rumpelstilskin from Once Upon a Time, Lionel Luthor or George Bluth Sr. Prince Charming doesn't even know he has a daughter so he doesn't get to be any kind of dad, though not through his fault. It's debatable how good or bad dads people like Al Bundy or Jack Bristow are. Is Bill Compton on the list as a dad to his human children, or to his vampire childe?

And now I'm sorry I voted before Ben Sisko from DS9 was added to the list. (At least I think he must have been added in the meantime, i don't remember seeing him on the list, and I looked at it twice.)

You keep waiting for the dust to settle and then you realize it; the dust is your life going on. If happy comes along - that weird unbearable delight that's actual happy - I think you have to grab it while you can. You take what you can get, 'cause it's here, and then...gone.

If it was best TV dads, there would, in place of a poll, be a Keith Mars gallery.

If we revisit that non original character topc after next season, I think Bree Turner on "Grimm" would do well.

If the distinction is them being a dad and being a favourite you would have thought they would be reasonable examples unless what you really enjoy about a tv dad is what an arse they are to their kids!! I was surprised at how few of them I recognised on a read through and nostalgia made me vote for Cliff Huxtable!!

New poll on the same site: Favorite villain. Lots of people from Buffy/Angel (even though I'm disappointed they didn't include Holtz) Spike is currently in the lead, despite not actually remaining a villain for a long time, but Ari from NCIS (played by Rudolf Martin, aka Dracula!) is just 3 votes away.
